My bags are packed and I am ready to go... I hate that song. Actually, my bags are not packed yet but they need to be soon because I am leaving for WDW tomorrow.

The trip started when I found out for some reason I had points that were about to expire if I didn't use them before June. Forget that. Figured out I could get 5 days standard BW view and use everything but 2 points. The call to Member Services couldn’t get me that but did have a non-savanna view at AKL for the same amount of points. OK. Then decided I didn’t want to drive so booked a decent fare on AA for the flight.

So who is going? Me. Solo, no other passengers on this ride. My child affectionally known as the kid is in the middle of her International Baccalaureate (IB) finals and is in full study mode. They have multiple tests/papers for each of her classes and she needs to achieve a certain cumulative score to get her IB Diploma. The caring father that I am I decided to support her by leaving town. Actually, she was all for me getting away so I would not be bugging her about studying.

Do I have any plans you ask? Well no. I will be at Pop tomorrow and Kidani for the next 5 days. Did find out that the Touring Plans folks are meeting at Cava del Tequila tomorrow afternoon and I snagged a RSVP to that party. I also need a haircut. Bad. May hit the MK barbershop while I am there.

Tomorrow’s Itinerary: Super Shuttle picks me up at 6:10 AM. AA flight leaves at 8:10 and arrives in Orlando sometime after that. (Hey, it gets there when it gets there) Magical Express to Pop, check in, maybe to the MK to get my hair cut then over to EPCOT for tequila. From there I have no idea. Will play this totally by ear and see where the winds take me.

May try a first. A semi live report. Have this new I-pad that I want to play with while I am there. This thread will either die quickly or maybe I can post some stuff to keep it going.

Day 1 Part 1 Arrival Day: Must be in the front row

Day 1 Part 2: Meeting other Disney Nuts

Day 2: The bus ride from Hades

Day 3: DHS, FREE FOOD and a not so cheap meal

Don't let it die!!!! Keep a live TR going.

Darn! We don't arrive at AKV until the 13th. I'd love to be at the World when you are. Please keep at that ipad and do the trip report. I still love your sense of humor. (Hope this plan does help DD study -- many of us are rooting for her IB diploma).

Yep...we cannot let those points expire, can we ;)

I almost missed your post because there is not a reference to "being nuts" in the title! Signing on for the semi-live trip report-even though you will be traveling solo, I'm certain that it will not be boring since it is already planned for you to involve tequila in the trip :rotfl:

Sounds like you'll have a nice, impromptu trip. I'm happy you were able to work this out so you don't lose your points! I will be anxiously checking in for updates.

We shall see. Depends on internet connection and if I can figure how to get my pictures uploaded.

That is a shame. Would like to meet up. She is plugging away at her tests. One English and two math ones down. She has multiple tests and/or papers for each subject. They are done around May 22nd. The non IB kids have already checked out for the year. Not really fair.

If this TR continues, I need to think of a Nuts reference. Tequila with Len Testa should be interesting. And you are right, letting points expire is a crime.

Thanks. We shall see how it goes.

Looks like someone found there way over here. You could have transferred me the points.

Tequila with Len Testa should be interesting.

Last time I had tequila at Epcot, it was interesting too
I had one frozen margarita on a hot day while strolling around the lagoon and had to grab a doorframe in France to steady myself!
Come to think of it, that was also the trip that the lapu lapu got me at O'Hana :rolleyes1

Please try to do a trip report. Your TR's are great. OH, what a way to celebrate cinco de mayo, the ditch in mexico. So jealous right now. enjoy!

Oh, good. I saw your post on another thread about going, so I am glad you are considering a trip report. Please, please? :thumbsup2

One tequila, two tequila, three tequila, floor.

Happy Cinco everyone. Good day more or less. Took 6 hours to get from my door to getting off the bus at Pop. Spent the afternoon at Epcot. Hot. I mean Animal Kindom in August hot. The only touring I did involved AC.

Made it to Len Testa's event. He bought about 20-30 shots for the gathering. I opted for a margarita. Ice was a deciding factor. It was a fun group and a good time was had by all. Nothing like a bunch of Disney nuts getting together.

Left the park before there was nothing left of me but a puddle of water. Stopped at the pool bar for a refreshment and to watch the Derby. Probably the pool tonight. Tomorrow, check into AKL and maybe a haircut.

I think you may have part of the title here for your trip report... :)

I like it. See the new title.

Spent today on the bus trip into the twilight zone. Checked into AKL with a few complications. I am an idiot sometimes. STOP IT! And you know who I am talking to. The rest of the day was at the resort at the pool. Taunted a few Tweens that were obnoxious. Got ugly and they had to drag the father off to jail. OK not really. Did say something to the kids and when they continued picking on this much smaller kid, told his father to control them or I would take care of it. They left in a huff. Or maybe It was a minute and a huff. (Bonus points if you know the movie reference).

Was going to the MK tonight for the parade and fireworks but it is night EMH is so I will probably do that tomorrow. Tonight I am going to try to get into Jiko and sit at the chef's "bar" for dinner.

I know this is boring without pictures but getting them to my IPad is too much work. Thanks Norm for the suggestions, may try it later.

Or at least you would see it it it would let me edit the title. Just spinning around trying to load it.

Duck Soup!

I actually quoted one from that movie on Thursday at work. I am a critical care nurse in an "acuity adaptable critical care unit," which means that the patients come in sick and then stay until they are ready for discharge. With a base staffing number including both critical care and telemetry nurses, this sometimes gets us into trouble with the balance of nurses if our number of critically ill patients exceeds expectations. I was in charge on Thursday and one of our big managers stopped in to ask how things were going. My response...."Awfully decent of you to drop in today. Do you realize our army is facing disastrous defeat? What do you intend to do about it?"

Long story short-he did nothing and left me to figure out how to rob Peter, Paul, and Mary to get through the shift and yes...I was singing the "Leaving on a Jet Plane" song just trying to keep my spirits up! Even though you don't like the song, you have to understand that it was more of a threat to cope with adversity that day :upsidedow

Hope you were able to get into Jiko tonight-the chef's bar is one of my favorite places if I am dining by myself.

Anxiously awaitng the new title to appear :goodvibes

I'm in CJ! Sounds like a fun solo trip. I saw the Cava event on the Touringplans blog, and thought it looked like it would be a lot of fun. I'm glad you were able to get an RSVP in for it.:thumbsup2

Raining right now. Planned on the MK tonight but will try to get into Jiko instead. Spent the morning at Epcot. Did the Culinary tour for Jiko and Boma. Pretty interesting and free food. Can't beat that at Disney. Had nice conversations with the two guides.

And the love bugs are out. Not too bad but they seem to like hovering around me.

So glad for another CJ9200 TR! We should be there right now, but for some ugly medical reasons we canceled the day before leaving so points in holding. :headache: Yours is one of the few TRs that I would read even without pictures, you have such a snarky sense of humor it's fun!

Hopefully you'll throw us a bone and send pictures once you get home!

We are staying at AKL in 2.5 weeks! Can you tell me about the Culinary tour? Is it offered daily? Where do I find out about the time/sign up? Thanks! It'll be hot, and I'll be 6 months pregnant, so that sounds like a diversion I could really enjoy. :)
