Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

I know this probably has been answered but I wanted to make sure about it.

We booked through AAA and received our Mickey Mail with one set of ME luggage tags per person and since we are taking more than one piece per person, I emailed our AAA TA to request another set of tags. What if she says we don't need to have another set and to just let the Welcome Center know we have more than one piece of luggage? I would like to have the second set of tags (for piece of mind) for my luggage. How would I go about getting them if she won't?

thanks :surfweb:

Call DME directly. The phone number is in your DME booklet.

We didn't get a booklet for DME, we just got a packet that has something to scan for our DME rides.
You got nothing from DME except a piece of paper with something to scan on it??? No directions to the DME area, no info regarding the DME policies, nothing??
This is getting ridiculous. I hope that people start checking in here to let us know exactly what they are getting from DME..not from Disney specifically, but that DME packet that they 'used' to send out.

I recently received several DME packets and they all had the booklet in them - I wonder if that was a mistake. The only ones that did not have the booklet were the ones with the extra luggage tags I had requested.

I should rephrase this, we got a "booklet" but it also included vouchers for our special extras that we got from booking through AAA. There was no separate "DME booklet". My parents are booked also but they got a DME booklet and then they also got a "booklet" with their vouchers for their special extras. Does that make sense?:confused3

Yes, it makes sense. Did you book your stay yourself, or are you included on your parents reservation?? The mail that you get, with all those vouchers for extra stuff like minigolf or meals or such, isn't the same as DME mailings. They are two different things.
I just have to wonder why your parents got a DME booklet, with vouchers, in it while you didn't. Did you get luggage tags for each person listed on your reservation??? You should be getting a yellow luggage tag, for DME, for each listed person. Doesn't sound like you got that either. I would call DME and have them send you the packet.

I think I know what you mean because we got the same thing. It is one pretty thick booklet with the DME vouchers and directions to DME in the airport in the front of the booklet. In this same booklet are the vouchers for the arcade, Planet Hollywood, etc. Our yellow DME tags and the regular complimentary Mickey luggage tags were in the package as well. We are 25 days out and received the package a little over a week ago. We did not get a separate DME booklet either.

:flower3:Sorry if this has been asked but the thread is really long and I have read some but have not found an answer yet. My sister & I have a trip planned in sept 2012 and the reservation is in her name, now she lives in another state than I and we are meeting when we get to Disney. Disney has told her that they cannot mail me my magical express luggage tags that when it comes time they will mail them to her and she can send them to me. :confused3This sounds totally insane to me and am hoping that my sister was told wrong, can anyone give me anymore insight into this . Thanks Mary

Your sister was told correctly. They can only send the packet to the person who holds the reservation.

Thanks for the quick response. So I guess if she doesn't send them to me in time then I just go to baggage claim and take them to magical express myself. Right? Mary

Right, one option is you don't take advantage of the luggage delivery and you take your bags with you to the bus. That's what I would do if I did not have the tags.

I have never tried it but I've read another option is to provide a description of your bags for DME to locate and deliver.

You can, but you don't have to. Even if you don't get the tags you can still have DME deliver you luggage. You will just give the airline luggage receipts and a description of the bags to the agent at the counter.

Thanks for the other options, I am traveling with my Dd it is a surprise birthday trip for her and I was trying to lessen the hassle of getting the bags.Mary

With DME sending out the info packets/luggage tags about a month prior to travel, you should be able to have your sister mail yours to you...as well as your vouchers for the bus.
You can have vouchers printed up upon arrival, but it will slow you down. You will have to go to the counter, show ID and then get new ones printed. But, you can also give them your baggage claim receipts and a description of the bags at this time as well...then they can send someone to get the bags for you.

So.....have your sister mail you the vouchers and luggage tags as soon as she gets them. Then, you can use them. Otherwise, just stop at the counter before heading to the bus lines.

Thanks for all the great options, and will take your advice. Everyone has been of great help on this for me.:thanks:Mary

We already got our DME tags for our trip next month, but....we switched our flight times....same days, going to same resort....I called and "ordered" new tags with the new flight info, but worst case scenario, if I don't get them can I still use the tags we have?? All that's different is the flight info on them.

I could be mistaken, but I think the only information on the tags is information about your resort reservation, not your flight.

Makes no difference, your existing tags are 100% fine.

All that really matters on those tags is the barcode. The barcode is a computerized version of your reservation number. The barcode is scanned in order to route your luggage to the proper resort and then to the proper room. The fact that your flight time changed doesn't in any way change how your bags will be routed.

If your flight NUMBER changed, it will be helpful to call DME (866-599-0951), but that has nothing to do with the usefulness of the DME tags.
