Sorry if this was already answered..DS at the Polynesian? Appreciate some help.

This is my favorite DSA at the Poly...in front of the Tangaroa Terrace opposite the "parking lot" entrance to Tokelau:

There's another between Tokelau and Tahiti that I used but failed to take a picture of.

This one is directly out the Ceremonial House toward the pool. There is now a bench there also but no shade:

There's one to the right of the front entrance to the Great Ceremonial House close to the CM stairs to the monorail area on the 2nd floor.

Visited the Poly last week for breakfast at Kona and walked the grounds...discovered there's also a DSA between the patio area of Capt. Cook's and the pool. It's well shaded and has a bench. Haven't gone through all my photos yet, if I have a picture of this one I'll post it later. :tink:

Well I did it. We're staying at the 2 DVC resorts with the least DSA's in August:scared1:

Must be BLT and AKV. Hahaha. Those are the two we stayed at too. It was a challenge! That's why I'm back on here...trying to decide where ELSE to try next time. Parks were no problem for me but those two resorts made it really hard to have that 1st and last ones of the day!
:guilty:

Yes you guessed correctly but I LOVE AKV and the kids really want to try BLT. I requested close to elevator for both so we'll see.

I'm glad you love AKL; it's not my favorite resort and after our stay there a couple weeks ago is even further "down on the list"! :lmao: First of all, this is where I spent my last night at DW:

Had been having some problems with the index finger of my right hand before our trip and the "problem" decided to rear it's ugly head the 2nd day of our visit. By Friday, I was in such pain, I checked in with the walk-in clinic close to DTD and ended up spending the next 8 hours waiting FOR my appointment or waiting AT my appointment! :headache: Bad infection, put on antibiotics and made a trip to our local ER the day we returned home. This is the garage area DSA:

Now, if you're in the areas between the lobby and the pool I would say the trip to a DSA wouldn't be TO bad; BUT, we were in the Simba area which meant a walk down the LONG hallway, down the elevator to parking area and then the walk to the DSA. Not to bad but a good 5 minute "trip". If you are unfortunate enough to be in the Zazu section, I'd say, "Pack some water and food, the trip down is going to take some time". :rotfl2: My walk down this l-o-n-g hallway:

I even counted one day and I took over 200 steps from the lobby elevator to our door; the walk to the parking area elevator wasn't quite as long...maybe 150 steps! Let's just say, if I "lived" at AKV's, I wouldn't have much of a problem quitting! :lmao: :tink:

Hello Everyone!

I have a silly question....my husband and I are going to WDW in December. Both of us smoke.

Neither one of us have flown in about 20+ years. I know that we cannot bring a lighter on an airplane.
What about matches?

And do you just purchase lighters once you get to your destination? Does Disney even sell lighters?

Thanks so much for your help!

Yes you can bring matches , I confess I have packed lighters in my carryon and even 1 in my pocket !!this was an accident and I did not realise I had it till I was thru security
It did not make the metal detector go off or the one in my carryon has gone thru fine !! The worse they will do is confiscate it You can pack them in your checked luggage as far as I know it is okay to do that!! Disney has lighters and cigarets but they are behind the counters and you have to ask !!At least they did last year !!

I thought you could take lighters now in your carryons. Seems like TSA lifted that regulation a year or so ago.

You certainly can take lighters on the plane. DH and I both took them 3 years ago on our honeymoon to Las Vegas. So, no problem to take them now.

Oh I did that in 2010 :scared1: But I was worse! We were there for just over 2 weeks and I wanted to take a new (full) lighter with me so I bought a pack of 4 or 5. At the airport hotel before our early departure I had the pack on the bed to take one out and leave the others in the car. In the rush to get out of the room the whole pack was tossed into my carry on. I only found them when I unpacked at POFQ

But there was nothing to alert me or anyone else to the fact that they were there!

Is it just me or does the Grand Floridian map appear to show a smoking area on the 3rd floor of the main building? That would have to be the concierge balcony if I'm reading this right. I thought that balconies are an explicit no-no.

Hi, we're staying at the Poly in August. Are there any DSA's near the Hawaii building and by the pool area?

If you go back one page in this thread, a very kind person posted the Polynesian DSAs in detail - even some photgraphs, but all with descriptions.

Ok. I went back and read all the way back to page 99. There is no mention of the Hawaii building or if there is one by the pool. So, if someone could help me it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

There is a DSA by the quiet pool restroom area. That is fairly close to Hawaii. Additionally, the second floor stairway area of Samoa houses a covered smoking area with seating. This building is next to Hawaii.

There is also another covered area with seating at Figi (2nd floor), but this is a distance from Hawaii.

Another area, but not covered, seating included is on the walkway between Rarotonga and Niue.

Scattered around the grounds are DSAs with benches and ashcans. Some of these include, but are not limited to:

A location just outside the GCH doors as you walk toward Hawaii; and another out the front doors to the left

An area on the way to the bus stop located on the walkway in front of Tangaroa Terrace

A bench up the stairs from the volcano pool on the GCH side

An area on the walkway to TTC between Tokelau and Tahiti

Another at the end of the Tahiti building

Check the map as referenced in the previous post. You should be able to spot these locations that I have posted. I'm sure there are probably others--I'm not an expert on the DSA locations. :thumbsup2

Thank you so much! I was having a hard time finding that information. Thanks again!

No problem--I should have noted that the DSA between Niue and Rarotonga is on the 2nd floor deck area.

You're welcome.

This one is close to the big pool. It's between the seating area outside of Capt. Cook's and the pool. Just "discovered" it in March!

Thanks Goopysolelady for the report. I am NEVER staying at Kidani!

I HOPE we never have to stay there again either. :rotfl: It was the only place available for our last minute spring break trip. Since I'm the only smoker in the family I couldn't put up much of an argument! :rotfl: I've just never been a huge fan of AK and/or AKL. Don't "flame" me; just not my style. I'm more "into" the Poly and BLT but "beggars can't be choosers"! :lmao: I WAS at Disney World! :cool1:
