Our Not So Scary, Very Merry, Honeymoon - An Oct/Nov 2012 PTR

Yeah snow on main street would be kind of awesome to see. I don't know how you even wore a t-shirt and shorts at Disney in December! We went in January this year so it was only a couple weeks later than your trip in December and I was pretty cold most of the trip. I guess I do get cold pretty easy though.

Enjoy your mini-trip! We are also thinking of taking a mini-trip for our anniversary in June.

When we were there it was probably around 23 or so every day, and only really got down to 15-18 at night, so all we needed were sweaters at night, but during the day we were just fine...sometimes the breeze was a little chilly though. Maybe we got lucky with warmer temperatures :confused3

Thanks :goodvibes Mini-trips are always awesome :thumbsup2

Oh cool! :thumbsup2 Well, :welcome: back! :goodvibes It's kinda funny we were there around the same time last year, and this year we're staying at the same resort, just a few weeks apart...maybe next time we'll be there at the same resort at the same time

that would be funny! i don't know when our next will be yet, but its probably going to be AoA

That would be a great resort choice :thumbsup2...I was considering switching to AoA for the first part of our trip because it will be so new, and it looks awesome...but I feel like it won't have the right atmosphere for our honeymoon. So, maybe next time for us too  But I'm not expecting to be able to go back for a few years :(...I've been itching to get back to NYC and we both want to go overseas to Ireland/England

I just have to excite for a moment...

:hyper: :bitelip: :hyper: :bitelip: :hyper: :bitelip: :hyper: :bitelip: :hyper: :bitelip:

:jumping1: party: :jumping1:

I just bought our MNSSHP tickets AND our MVMCP tickets! :woohoo:  :dance3: :woohoo:

Sorry, I'm just so excited! Not that it didn't feel real before, but now that we've got our tickets to the parties it's starting to sink in that we will actually be there to see these two "holidays"...omg!

Tomorrow is also our ADR day, but I think we can only make ADR's up until November 6th. I may have to wait until May 10th to make any ADR's from November 7th onwards, but I'm not sure .

So I'm not going to make very many ADR's tomorrow, and I probably don't really even need to make them tomorrow because they're for more "obscure" places. Well...I don't hear them get talked about too much here on the DIS.

I'll try and come back tomorrow to make a proper update about ADR's and plans for Day 4. For now, I leave you with these pictures (which aren't mine) to set the mood for my trip...

That's so cool! :thumbsup2 Thanks for joining in and :welcome:

Are you staying on-site or off-site?

Buying the tickets is so exciting! I always find its the smaller things that make it real -- not booking the whole package but making ADRs or buying party tickets. :thumbsup2

Before we move on to Day 4, I have another little piece of planning info all sorted out...but what could this possibly be? :confused3

...........

...........

...........

...........

ADR's :cheer2: Well, it wasn't much of a surprise, but I felt like adding some suspense in there anyway

Now, since we're not on the dining plan, I didn't make too many, but I'm happy with what we have.

On
October 30th (Day 2) we are going to the Whispering Canyon Cafe at 6:10 pm.

I'm hopeful that we can get a haunted carriage ride for around 8pm that night, which would give us plenty of time to eat and get over to FWR from the WL. My fiance doesn't know I have this planned...well, I don't think she knows. I've mentioned the carriage ride to her offhandedly, but I think she was lost in the land of Mass Effect at the time (which is a video game for those of you who don't know). She doesn't know about this ADR though. I'm going to try to keep the carriage ride a secret, but I'm not sure how well that will work, especially if she actually remembers me mentioning it

On
October 31 (Day 3) we will be having breakfast with Donald and his friends at the Tusker House at 8:05am.

I'm really excited about this one. Well, not that I'm not excited about all of them...it's just that I'm excited that we were able to get the second time slot of the day, which means we'll be first in line for the safari. :thumbsup2 The food was also really good last year, so I'm glad we get to enjoy it again this year...though I'll skip the plantain this time :rolleyes1

Then, on
November 2nd (Day 5) we have a reservation at Saana at 6:40 pm.

I'm very much looking forward to this one. We discovered the best dessert here last year...the Chai Cream :cloud9:. It was sooo good! It was also really awesome to be able to see the animals in their "mini" savannah before our meal, and my fiance is very much looking forward to this meal.

Our next reservation is on
November 3rd (Day 6) at Teppan Edo at 7:30 pm.

I made this one later because I wanted to be able to eat and then find a good spot for Illuminations right after, also because I figured we'd probably be sampling food from the F&W festival for the better part of the day  I've never eaten here before, but always wanted to try it, and my fiance insisted that we just had to go this time.

And the last reservation I made was on
November 7th (Day 10) at Kona Cafe at 7:45 am.

I made this one because I've been hearing so much about Tonga Toast  It sounds fantastic! It's a little early, but I'm hopeful that we can enjoy our "toast" and then make rope drop at the MK this morning...never done that before. November 7th also just happens to be the first full day at our second resort, which by the time we get there just might be the POLY, :rolleyes1. If this is the case it will work out perfectly...if not, it's not a big deal to take a taxi.

And unfortunately, that's all the time I have right now...was hoping to get to some Day 4 plans, but with any luck that should be my next update

Hi
We booked the CR. We may change our minds but we our ds will be 18 months so being able to walk to MK is really appealing!
Love your ADRs we booked ours, mostly all Character meals! lol.

Awesome :thumbsup2! I've always wanted to stay at the CR...maybe one day I'll make it there :scratchin I can see how being so close with an 18 month old would definitely have its advantages, though.

Thanks! :goodvibes I'm thinking of changing one around already...and so it begins

Hey!
Congrats on booking your party tickets. Looking at the pictures I thought the contrast between the two decors is really interesting. It's cool how they can get the same place to look so different depending on the season.

I like your ADRs. I've done Kona and Teppan last year and really enjoyed both places. The haunted carriage ride looks amazing. You'll have to let us know how it went :)

Glad to hear you got the ADRs you wanted :thumbsup2 Some really interesting ones there! The only one I can say I've done is Tusker House, and even then I didn't do breakfast there. Although by the time you go I'll be able to say I've eaten at Kona too. I'll be interested to hear all about these!
Love the idea of eating at the Whispering Canyon Cafe and then the haunted carriage ride.

Rain rain, go away, come again some other day :rolleyes1

It is a vary gross and rainy day here in Halifax. And we can't forget about the wind, so strong it will blow you away with your inside-out umbrella. Oh Halifax, I love you...but your weather sucks sometimes.

Anyway, hi everyone! :wave2: I hope your week has been going well. Mine has been...different...

I suffer from migraine headaches, and I had been doing really well for a while, but all of a sudden about a month ago I started getting them more frequently and now they are to the point where I'm having one every-other day almost, and they're getting worse. I never used to get auras, but I had my very first migraine with an aura on Saturday. It was really scary actually, because I wasn't sure what was happening :scared: So, in light of the recent events I went in to see my doctor on Tuesday morning. He put me on pills that should prevent the migraines on a daily basis, but the side effects seem pretty intense, so I haven't started taking them yet. I was planning to start them on Saturday morning, but I don't want to be off on Saturday because I'm getting my tattoo finished, so I'll start them on Sunday night and hope for the best.

My doctor also sent off an urgent request for a CT scan, and told me he might also schedule me to see an neurologist as well. I wasn't expecting to get a call to hear when my appointment was until at least Friday, but on Wednesday around noon I got a call...they had my CT scan appointment...it was for 7:30 am TODAY! :scared1: I don't know if I should be worried that I got in so fast, or relieved. I thought that there were normally long waits for these things :confused3 So, the technician said that my doctor should have the results in a few days, which I'm assuming means Monday or Tuesday.

SO on to bigger and better things....like Disney :wizard:

I recently heard that Saana has taken the Chai Creme off the menu :sad2: That makes me want to cancel the reservation and book somewhere else because that was the biggest reason we wanted to go there. I haven't cancelled it yet, just in case, but I might. I would rather go back to 'Ohana now that we know about Saana, but I can't seem to get a reservation for when I'm looking :sad1: I guess I'll have to keep trying and hope for the best.

And finally, after this long wait, Day 4! Thursday November 1st.

After our breakfast we will journey to parks unknown (well, not really, but the one that we haven't been to so far this trip)...

This is our least favourite of all the parks, but that doesn't mean we don't like it! There are still lots of fun things to do at the studios, but we're not big thrill-seekers so we skip the Tower of Terror and Rockin' Rollerocaster. I do, however, plan on going through the line-up at ToT since it's supposed to be pretty cool. :cool1:

So I imagine that the first order of business when we get inside the park will be to join in the rush and head on over to get fastpasses where we can see this guy...

DSCF2091.jpg

Last trip we only got to do TSM once, which is kind of a shame because I loved it! I'm hopeful that we'll get a chance to do it a few times this trip if posible.

Once we have our FP's in hand, depending on the wait we will either go on TSM or wander on over to another ride, perhaps this one...

DSCF2445.jpg

We will definitely have to do this one too...

Star_Tours_MGM_outside.jpg
(not my photo)

I haven't seen the Beauty and the Beast show in a long time, so it might be nice to re-visit that this trip, but we'll see what kind of a mood we're in.

I also heard that there may well be a new Pirates of the Caribbean attraction here in time for our visit, so if that's there we will definitely be paying a visit to that.

So since we have no dining reservations, I think we'll probably just eat at Backlot Express or at another CS location at the park, and depending on when we leave the studios and if we're hungry, we may just eat something at the CSR for supper.

So, that's about it for day 4. Not too much on the go, but hopefully an enjoyable day at the studios. And, with that, this much longer than intended installment of my PTR is now done. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and a great Mother's Day! :flower3:

We had the rain and high winds here last evening/night. It howled pretty loud!
Hope your scan results come back normal and the migraine medication works. I get exactly one mild headache per month and can't stand it, I seriously can't imagine a migraine. :( So fingers crossed you get feeling better and soon.

I can't believe Saana took away the one thing you wanted. :sad2: That's too bad. I hope you can get your 'Ohana ressie you want.

DHS is my least favourite too. I LOVE RnR though, but can't stand ToT. The queue is gorgeous, and I'd walk through again if guarenteed of a chicken exit!

Thanks :goodvibes Prior to a few weeks ago, I was getting maybe 2 or 3 headaches a month, which really isn't bad but headaches still suck no matter what. I just look at it this way...some people get migraines every day, or have migraines that last weeks, and sometimes they cause really scary things to happen, like half of your face could go numb :scared1:, so I consider myself lucky that I don't have them quite that bad, but it is annoying.

And yeah, that does suck about Saana :( The food was really great though, so we may go anyway. Apparently they make a mini version of the chai cream in the dessert trio, so they sort of still have it.

I'd be tempted to try RnR, but I really don't think I could take going upside down and all the G-Forces...when we're descending on an airplane, at certian points it feels like someone is trying to sit on my head (lots of downward pressure on my head) :scared: so if that's what G-Forces feel like to me, there's no way I could do it. I think it would be awesome getting to listen to Aerosmith on the coaster though :cool2:

Just a quick update to say...Happy Mother's Day!!!

I also have to excite about the fact that my fiance and I got our wedding dresses yesterday!!! :cool1: :woohoo: :hyper: Mine has to be ordered in because they didn't have it in my size, and then when it comes in it will need slight alterations. My fiance's dress, however, fit perfectly. She doesn't need any alterations or anything, it's perfect. :goodvibes

We also think we might know where we're getting our cake from now :thumbsup2. We're planning on doing a small cake for the two of us, and then getting cupcakes for everyone else. A place called Scanway might be able to do this for us, but I'll have to call and double check tomorrow, and if they do, we'll have to set up a an appointment to meet with the chef for next weekend.

In other news unrelated to the wedding or Disney...well, sort of unrelated to Disney...I got my tattoo finished! Finally!!! I got it started over a year ago, so it's nice to finally have it all done. Here is a picture my fiance snapped this morning after I took off the bandage and cleaned it up as best as I could...

photo11.jpg

People might think I'm a bit of a :smokin: because of it, but I swear I'm not. I just love Alice in Wonderland, and that scene. I always have.

So, I will let you all get back to your Mother's Day. Have a good one! :goodvibes

For what it's worth, I was terrified to try RnR my first time. I had to keep repeating to myself "I won't die, and anything else I can deal with." hahaha. It turned out to be my favourite ride! You're going so fast, and you're so well strapped in that you don't even feel the upside down part -- you come out of it and realize "Hey -- I was just upside down!" I didn't find the G-forces as bad on this as on EE. :confused3

So exciting that you guys have your dresses! Awesome that your fiancee's fit perfect (I was that lucky too, not a single alteration!)

Love the tattoo!

I'm still jealous that you get to go to both parties!!

hope your dr visit turns out to be only good news.

i love you new tattoo. I've been perusing the disney tattoos for a while now. i can't make up my mind what i want- i have a few on a lit but have not decided where i want it. I'm torn because i want it to show becuase- hello- how else can i show mickey. but i already show one and hide another at work, plus one that is always hidden. i'm not sure if i want to have to hide another every day, plus i dont know where to put it that would be easy to hide and show in the same place.

I feel really lucky to get to go to both parties, especially since it's something I didn't think I was going to get to do for a while.

I hear ya about wanting tattoos in a place where they're not showing all the time. You can only really see one of mine on a daily basis, despite that I have 9 tattoos in total (they look like 8, but I count the ones on my right leg separately because they weren't planned together and still kind a look separate). For me it's not that I have to hide mine, but that I like being able to show them off if I want or keep them hidden if I want. I find leg tattoos great for that :thumbsup2

So exciting that you guys found your wedding dresses! :goodvibes I remember when I found mine and it was such a great feeling. I hope everything comes back okay with your CT scan. Oh and I love your tattoo! DH and I are getting Disney themed tattoo's for our anniversary in about 3 weeks. I'm super nervous as its my first one.
