Hi, I hope you don't mind me doing some ocean hopping but I'm really really enjoying your report - it's done in such a different style. Your boys are gorgeous and I totally get Finn's 'too shortness' - we had the moment in our last trip when Eloise (DD) was just tall enough - amazing. At least when Finn gets there you know there will just be even more fantastic memories

I am in total awe of your sewing skills - it's making me want to have a go myself but I have no idea where or how I would start. Any tips?

Love the pirate installment. Francis is such an adorable pirate. And love how he got on stage with Jack Sparrow. Was this during one of the tutorials or the parade they have at 4:00?

And I have to say having done both the BBB and the Pirate's League.... the Pirate's League wins hands down. Even my Girlie Girl daughter said she like the PL better.

and specifically CarlaC and SisBoom patterns. I swear to you I had very limited sewing skills before I joined the Disboutiquers ranks last spring (yes, just a year ago) and that's how I got started. I'd suggest starting with CarlaC's Easy Fits pants pattern. I'm sorry, I forgot to look to see if you just have a daughter or if you have any boys also. YCMT.com offers bundle packs - one has easy fits, the bowling shirt pattern and the raglan shirt pattern, another has the easy fits, the simply sweet and one other girls' pattern by Carla C.

I will second this. I just starting sewing in Oct of 2010 -I am totally self taught, with no official lessons other than my 8th/9th grade home-ec class - Carla C's (and Sis Boom - one in the same) patterns are the best... Definately start with those. They are just like a sewing lesson inside the pattern. Yes, they are expensive - but they are yours forever and you can make them a million times if you want. I bit the bullet when I first started sewing and purchased a couple of bundle packs, and I learned soooo much from them.

That and your sewing machine manual - there is a wealth of information in that little book - and you will learn so much practicing with that, and an old pillowcase.

And, of course, I also second the Disboutiqer thread... Gosh - I need to get back over there, it's been a long time since I last visited!

I started reading your update but never got to finish. What a wonderful treat for Finn and a special way for a little guy to spend the day. He looks like he had a great time and inspite of all that makeup you can see the joy on his face in that picture with the giant globe. I'm so happy "Francis" was able to have a special lesson with Captain Jack.

What a wonderful memory for Pirate Francis.

Only working, cleaning the house (to get ready for the ILs visit ), dealing with migraines, frustrated that I didn't look at available sizes on EACH of the Avengers Cuties I bought (as two of the most important ones didn't come with 4x4 size files ), two kids in soccer, dh's work hours headed into hyperdrive, trying to wrap things up here so we can head to RI for the summer (and be there for Memorial Day) . . .

But, like I said above, I'm going to try to do at least a small update tonight. . . and keep them coming. . .
