PRINCESS Palooza 2011! 9/9 Update: Departure Day

That's funny because I fell really intimidated by card-making! :lmao: I have all this paper and stuff around here and yet I still buy all my cards. I feel guilty about buying them, but I do!
It's not THAT bad.

I need to make more though. I've got all the stuff and no cards stocked up

I've actually been scrapbooking since the late 90's. It's saved me a fortune in therapy costs. :rolleyes1
Preach it sister!

Well, the Splash Mountain paper piecing was something I bought on ebay years ago and just hadn't used. Sorry....can't help much on that!

As for BTMRR........ Remember I said I use "Make the Cut" to cut fonts on my Cricut? Well, there is this really cool font, something like "Big Thunder Dingbats". It's a free download easy to find with a google search. But I made a couple of the dingbats really big...... and voila!

Thanks! :goodvibes

I do print all of my photos at home. I have a Epson Artisan 710 have been very happy with it. When it dies (and it will. I'm on about my 4th Epson printer) I think I might get the wider format printer so I can do full 12" photos if I want. I generally buy big lots of Epson 8 1/2X11 paper on Ebay and print several photos on each page. I also buy my ink on ebay to save a bit. I don't mind doing pages with 4x6 photos but never know just what I'm going to do until I sit down to do it. And I print custom sizes all the time.

Something else you an do is put several photos into a 4x6 space then cut them apart. I also like using the photo collage templates on the scrapbooksetc.com web site.

I have resisted getting a photo grade copier so far - I have too many "toys" on my wish list right now!:rotfl2: I will have to try the collage photos - I think that Costco even prints them if I import from Picassa.

Your scrapbook pages are gorgeous! Well done. :thumbsup2 Do you have a Cricut machine?

I used to paper scrapbook, but have switch primarily to digital. It's much easier, quicker and less messy. LOL I still have all my paper scrapping stuff, but really haven't used it in months. I still need to finish my 2008 Disneyland book I had started.

You can see some of my digital layouts here: http://www.mousescrappers.com/photos/showgallery.php?ppuser=747&username=yzerbear19

Your lo's are beautiful! I have only used digital templates - so not much creativity, but I loved the ease and speed! (and no mess to keep the 4 legged child out of!)

I was thinking the same thing! I have a Cricut, but did not get MTC or SCAL, but have seriously been considering the Silhouette. Oh, wait, see previous post about too many toys on my wish list!! :lmao: Maybe for Christmas!

My boss gave me a few minutes for a break. Since I don't smoke I thought I'd post a few more scrapbook pages..... Then back to to the salt mines.....

Beautiful! And I love how you "hid" the journaling on the last lo's. It really lets you tell the story but without making a whole page of the lo being a journaling page.

Here is one of the digital pages I made with Close to my Heart's digital program, Studio J. It was really easy - would definitely use it agin, but can't give up the therapeutic paper scrapping!

I've worn out a number of printers through the years..... mostly printing photos for scrapbooking. But I scrap at odd hours, and it would drive me nuts to have to stop and wait until someplace that prints opened.

Thanks! I have some furry friends that cause problems too. One of them has a nasty habit of chewing on paper. :confused3 Boxes too. Anyone want a cat?????? If Robbie didn't love that dang cat so much, I'd be really tempted.....

At least you're on the verge of the best toy of all..... a nice camera!

If you ever get a Silhouette, do check out the programs. I got a Wishblade when it hit the market years ago as the first consumer cutter. This was even before Cricut. I loved it, but there was no shadow function or welding. Eventually they came out with new software and I never got it figured out. It's a big ole paper weight now. I should have sold the dang thing. But a cutter plus SCAL or MTC.... is pretty darn awesome. I was in hog heaven when I finally got this going.

Working on a Pirates page? Go to the internet, look up the name of the font on the signs at Disney, download said font....... and off to the races! :yay:

Thanks! Most of my Disney pages have journaling hidden in there somewhere. I just always have too many photos, and too much to say, NOT to hide it! :rotfl:

That's adorable! I love it! I'm really gonna have to figure out how to do that one day. I doubt I'll ever give up my paper, ribbon and flowers, but I could certainly make a case for the occasional digital page.

Here's the link for the collage templates I use. And if I use them, you know they can't be too hard....

12/13 Continued:

OK, when I left off, we had just finished a great morning of girly fun in the Magic Kingdom. We left the park around 1. I hoped to get back and rest for a bit before returning for that night's party.

I certainly didn't have to twist Katie's arm into taking a mid-day break. She wanted to swim every single day and of course that's where her mind went first. So we grabbed some counter service lunch and headed for the Hippy Dippy pool. There weren't many people out there, but they were still running activities. I had no idea they even did that. I guess when you leave the room early and come back every day you just don't notice that sort of thing!

They were playing "Are you smarter than" when we got there and quickly moved on to "Disney Name That Tune." Seriously? That wasn't even fair to the other patrons! Katie quickly signed up and came over for my help. We did pretty well between the 2 of us. We weren't sure if it was good enough........... but when the score was tallied......... the winner was...... drum roll please.......... TEAM KATIE! LOL!

I credit that 125 song 5 disc set we listen to in the car all the time. She got her choice of prizes and we left the pool area with our very own inflatable purple monkey. The best part? Katie was grinning from ear to ear and thrilled to bits. The Disney magic was alive and well!

I added tickets for the Tuesday night Christmas party late in the game. We were already going Monday with Drew and Friday night with Kim and McKenna. But Drew doesn't really like waiting in character lines, and Friday night was sure to sell out (which it did). I just didn't think I'd get it all done. And I'm glad I did. We were able to do a few key things each night and didn't really miss anything important.

We had a 4:15 ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern and arrived back at the park around 3:30. I certainly wasn't hungry yet, but knew we had to eat so we didn't end up starving later in the evening. We stopped into the Christmas shop in Liberty Square on our way. I asked a man who worked there about where to get our wristbands later. I was hoping to avoid having to trek all the way over to Tomorrowland. He said they only open up a second wristband station in the park when they expect a heavy crowd over 18,000. He said they weren't expecting over 15,000 that night. Well, THAT was encouraging!
Dinner was really good. I just wish I had been hungrier. Or could have taken home a doggie bag.

Then back across the park again...... this time to Frontierland to start the line for the 7 dwarfs (after a quick ride on BTMRR).

IMG_6528 by mom2rtk, on Flickr

OK, so we THOUGHT we were going to start the line for the 7 Dwarfs...... We got there around 5:40 and found ourselves ......... second in line! LOL! Amazing that there was someone else crazy enough to line up that early! While I ducked into the restroom, Katie held our spot. When I came out, the dwarf line had moved, but Katie moved right along with it, keeping our spot intact. So we settled in for the long wait. We chatted with the folks around us and just hung out. The family behind us had a girl around Katie's age. She had been to the BBB and had gotten the Pop Princess do. It must have made an impression on Katie..... and soon I found myself muttering the words "I don't care honey, get whichever style you want." Famous. Last. Words. :-)

Eventually I dug out our costumes and we got dressed while in line.

IMG_6538 by mom2rtk, on Flickr

Long about then we had our second DIS meet of the trip. Glennie came up to say hi. Hi Glennie! I kept watch for Jen and E thinking they would be there in line, but never did see them. Our Dwarf photos are still not the best, but I'm probably done dragging that Evil Queen costume around Disney. Just too much fabric. I loved seeing Katie in her Snow White costume, but the lace on the collar just didn't quite get the job done. It drooped too much. Live and learn!

Photo0376FourBySix-2 by mom2rtk, on Flickr

While we were still in costume, I wanted to go say goodbye to Snow White's Scary Adventures. So we had our last ride in style......

12/13 Continued:

Of course, we were on another mission as well. Finally08 from the DIS, mother of the world's biggest Flynn fan.... had asked for our help. Her adorable little girl loves Flynn. And not just ANY Flynn. It had to be HER specific Flynn. She had a book made with pictures from their prior meetings and sent it to me to deliver in person. I had it with me. Now I just had to wait through the line......... and hope the right Flynn was there that night.

The line was posted as a 70 minute wait. It was every bit that long, probably more. There were some cast members in line ahead of us chatting with another big Flynn fan behind us in line. Eventually, my curiosity about whether the right Flynn would be in got the better of me. That other Flynn fan had been through the line already that night, so I got the book out and showed him a photo of Flynn and asked if he was back there. Not only did he say our Flynn was in, but there was only one princess room open, so it would indeed be the right one. My excitement over being able to complete our mission was only SLIGHTLY overshadowed with me being miffed about them only running one room. So we finally get there on a slightly slower night........ and they compensate by running only one room. Oh well, at least it meant we would be able to accomplish our mission!

After an endless wait, we finally went back. I told Flynn that we brought greetings from a faroff land. The look on his face was absolutely priceless, completely worth the long wait in line. Of course, I'm sure he was wondering why this crazy lady dressed as the Evil Queen was involved....... but I'm sure that just added to the moment! He took quite a while to look over the book with Rapunzel, and even went over to show Aurora and Prince Philip. He also took time to write out a thank you note for Finally08's daughter. It was a ton of fun, and I'm so glad I got to help spread a little magic.

While waiting....

12/13 Continued:

As we left Town Square Theater, I heard an announcement that the Magic, Memories and You show would start in 10 minutes. OH NO! Just like Sunday night, I was fighting at the last minute for a spot to set up my tripod. And just like Sunday night I failed miserably. 0 for 2! This time I at least found a spot and got it all set up. But this time at the last minute, THREE people hoisted their kids up on their shoulders completely ruining my shot. I didn't want to stay through the fireworks without a good shot, so off we went again. We still had Friday night, and I'd just make it a priority that night.

I didn't spend any time editing these photos but thought I'd post them so you could appreciate my "changing view"....

As we walked off, Katie told me how sorry she was that I didn't get my photos. She knows how important it is to me, and I just loved that she said that. I told her not to worry, that I'd get my photos Friday night. Still, I had to smile at her concern.

We decided to make just one more character stop then head back for the night. We headed for Pixie Hollow! It was almost time for the fireworks, so there wasn't a single soul in line. We got to play with Rosetta and Tink by ourselves for a while.

When we were done, we slowly made our way out of the park. It would have been great to sit down and watch the parade again, but we had to pace ourselves. After a quick stop in the Emporium to get myself a party t-shirt, we headed for the exit around 10. Eventually even the Energizer bunny has to slow down!

We also made our MK day a party day in October - and there were no long lines that day in the park! Love the pics of you both in costume! And I am glad you got to see the right Flynn - I think that is the same Flynn we saw - I highly recommend planning some meet and greets during the parade - we only waited 5 minutes to get in and see the Princesses during the second parade. And Flynn was so bored that Rapunzel was teaching him to braid her hair! :lmao: OK - after comparing photos, I DON"T think we saw the same Flynn, but he was still lots of fun!

That photo is absolutely priceless! Not the same Flynn, but a great photo!

I'm amazed that even during the parade the wait was so low. What day in October did you go?

One of the big advantages of going to a party more than once is that you can see the parade one night and do character meets during the parade the other night. That night we were there during the first parade and it was still a 70 minute wait. Maybe the 2nd parade would have been better though.

We were there on Sunday, October 16. The lines had been long for the princesses all night - maybe 120 minutes? - we had waited about 20 minutes to see Mickey and Minnie, but the girls didn't want to wait for the princesses. Later that night, my 8 year old pooped out and we were on our way out of the park around 11:00 (parade had just started, only the Headless Horseman had come by) and I noticed that the sign how said 5 minute wait, so we went in and got right in to see them! Aurora and Phillip, Snow White and her Prince were also there.

Hey, that's OUR Flynn!! :rotfl:

I do think he's quite popular. The person behind us in line was a huge fan as well, and was going through the line a second time just to see this Flynn. And I totally get it. He's very friendly and engaging.

Great pictures as always! (Hope I didn't say anything out of line. ;))

LOL! I'll try to make this all a bit more contrversial so it seems more like the Theme Parks board!

HA! That was our Flynn too!

You did not see us in the Dwarves line because Jenn had done them in 2010 at the Halloween party, we were in line for Flynn while you waited. I also think we met your fanatic, who was in line a few peeps behind us that night, dressed up as Flynn right?... and yes... that line was SLOW. My poor mom tried waiting with us but she finally bailed. She thought we were crazy. She said that this trip was the most she had ever waited in lines to see characters

Yeah, out of all the princes, my daughter just ADORED him. She said he was her favorite prince because he's so funny :) I was standing back near the line while my daughter interacted with Rapunzel, and Flynn came right over to me and gave me a hug, and had the Photopass guy take a picture of us. I am very shy and probably turned all kinds of red, but it was fun :lmao: I just love his smirk at my daughter, and her face- she was in heaven!

Yeah, I'm sure that was the same Flynn fanatic. I was really glad they were in line behind us and confirmd the right Flynn was in. So now you know the reason the line was so slow. On a busy night they'd have 2 rooms open. They expected a lower crowd that night...... and only had one. :faint:
