Walking distance?

Can you walk between AKL Jambo and Kidani? I thought I booked at Kidani but when I looked at my reservations it says Jambo. I have only been to Sanna for a quick lunch so I don't really know the layout between the two resorts. I have a four year old and my 67 year old mother staying with me, any reason I should change my reservations. I can't figure witch one would better suit us.

yes, you can easily walk from jambo to kidani and back (in good weather at least).

DTD buses stop first at jambo, then kidani. all other buses stop first at kidani. that might be an option in bad weather.

(also, jambo 1BRs do not have the additional bathroom, but it's a good location if you eat at boma or jiko.)

Also the Mara foot court is at Jambo. Other than the lobby store or at the pool Kidani does not have counter service.

It is about 1/2 mile from the front entrance of Jambo to the front entrance of Kidani. At a moderate pace, it takes about 10 minutes.

So am I right to understand that Kidani has the better kiddie pool and play area?

opinions vary on the pools. that is probably generally true, though. jambo has a great pool as well, but kidani has a more detailed play area.

IMO the Kidani pool is great for young kids. For the most part it is geared towards kids and is a wonderful place for kids to spend a few hours.

While both pools are amazing, Kidani has the play area that is more geared toward kids. They both have really nice slides.

This was something I was concerned about before our stay in November, as well. When we finally did the walk from Jambo to Kidani, I was amazed at how close it was and how easy the walk was. I'm not much of a walker at all (lousy knees) and this was a breeze! :thumbsup2

The title of this reminds me of one of my favorite Steven Wright lines:
"Everywhere is within walking distance if you have the time".
If you have a room in Kidani at the end of the wing closest to Jambo, you could make it in less than 5 minutes with little problem.

Thanks everyone, I did switch to Kidani but its nice to know i can just stroll on over to Jambo. I will have a car but it seems silly to drive when it so close.

You'll love Kidani - it's our home :)

If you decide that you're not up for walking to Jambo, you can also take a bus headed to any of the parks (just NOT DTD) to Jambo since they pick up at Kidani first and then head on over to Jambo - - - just get off at Jambo while others are getting on.

Enjoy!!!:thumbsup2

As you said, the trip to Jambo from Kidani is a short wait if one at all.

Going back, it's far easier to walk back to Kidani than wait for that DTD bus imho. The 2 times we waited it was at least 1/2 hour before the DTD bus showed up.

Don't try to drive if you can avoid it -- it's far easier to walk or catch a bus. It looks as if it's easy to drive between the resorts, but the "obvious" route is only for busses. Cars must go back to the main road, which is a hassle.

Assuming you're willing to go out through a non guest area. I am but some may not be.

Don't walk from the front of Kidani, take advantage of the carpeted and cool hallways of the hotel. We always take the hallway to the Zazu elevator which is the last before Jambo. Very short walk outside from there.

Yes, this is a good tip. Worked well for us when walking in the rain!
