Your ULTIMATE SURVIVAL GUIDE to Disney World at Christmas Time! UPDATE x2 10/21

I am a faithful reader of your trip reports, even though I don't usually comment. However, I just HAD to comment on this one... as soon as I saw the sweaters, I knew you must have been going to an ugly sweater party! :lmao: Although, I have to admit, for "ugly sweaters" those two really aren't all that ugly.

Anyway, you and your family are absolutely adorable, and I truly love reading your reports! You have a knack for drawing people in with your writing style - it's not forced or fake, and it's very enjoyable! Happily awaiting your next chapter... :goodvibes

we are planning our first disney christmas in december this year so naturally i was attracted to your report. Ive been following for a while but havent posted. but i have to tell you it made me laugh when you said going through security you got beeped and they had to do a hand swab! gahhh happens to me literally every time we travel. i get sweaty palms going through security and i know they can tell. but im glad to hear im not the only person this happens to :) Orlando, Philadelphia, Atlantic City - where ever we may be I get put in the box lol

Chapter 33: THE INTERLUDE
December 10th-20th, 2011
I went with one of the freshman girls, named Josie, to two of the Freshman classes. (I actually am good friends with Josie now!)

I just want to say how absolutely weird this is, because that's my name! I don't meet many people with that name so I always find it surreal when it's mentioned in reference to someone else, haha.

But I'm so excited to see the rest of your TR! Keep those Christmas pics coming!

OMG I CAN GET ON DISBOARDS AGAIN SO I'M CAUGHT UP. Turns out I wasn't actually far behind at all... hah.

In normal circumstances, if I got home from Disney and it was snowing, I'd be all like "AWWW HECK NO." BUT... in that situation, if I was going back so soon, and it was Christmas time, I would have probably been excited. Hooray!

YAY FOR TRIP NUMBER TWO!!! Ahhh so exciting. HAHAHA, my dad is the EXACT same way. He's all about the relaxation. He made me plan a day where he could just hang out at BLT. He was like, "I'll meet yall for the meals that day." :rotfl: Silly silly man. But he works hard so it's all good. :thumbsup2

Sounds like an awesome few days in between trips!

I absolutely LOVE reading your trip reports! There is nothing better then Disney at Christmas time, thats for sure! For the past 2 years, my boyfriend has gotten me an annual pass for Christmas..needless to say, he's a keeper! Now if he just gets the hints I've been dropping about being proposed to in Disney! :thumbsup2 I can not wait to read the rest of this trip report and the one about your trip coming up! :)

Aww thank you so much! I totally agree! Aww that is an AWESOME boyfriend! :thumbsup2 Keep him around. And he better propose to you! Just be like "if I don't get proposed to in Disney by my future husband, I won't accept." :rotfl: That's what I always say LOL. I'm excited to write the rest of it! I'm glad you're here! :goodvibes

YES! I'm SO READY FOR THIS!!! *Channels the crazy Target Christmas Red Track Suit lady*

Aww yay!! Thank you for being here!

Well thank you SO MUCH for reading! That means a lot to me!
LOL oh thank you! Yeah they're more like... frumpy sweaters. :lmao:
Aww thank you so much! Thank you so much for those compliments, they mean a lot to me! I hope you keep enjoying! It's great to have you here!

Aww are you!? That's wonderful! This is the perfect trip report for you to read, then! Aww yeah security is such a pain! I'm sorry that happens to you all the time!

Thank you! I'm glad they're helpful! And AWW congratulations on your baby! That's so incredibly exciting! It's going to be such an amazing trip - you'll remember it forever! Just remember to take your time with everything and don't overly cram stuff in - you'll always go back someday if you miss something! Cherish the time with your family! It's going to be SO magical! I hope you have a wonderful vacation! :wizard:

Thank you! I definitely will!

HOORAY! Finally! That took forever! And yeah I haven't had time to update much. My life is out of control right now. :faint: I have some updates prewritten but I want to spread out when I post them haha

Yeah, the snow just added to the Christmassy atmosphere!

YAYY I'm so excited! Haha yeah BLT is SUCH a good place to relax. I found myself taking the time to go to the pool and take naps during my trip because I just was so relaxed at that resort! But LOL my Dad and Brother did the SAME thing. They would meet up with us for meals... sometimes. But anyways... you'll love it there!

Yes those were good days! But the Disney days were even better!!

Chapter 34: THE DAY BEFORE DISNEY OMG!
December 20th, 2011

Alright guys, just one more update before we get to the World! I hope you enjoy it! :-)

The day before Disney is always such an exciting day! AHHHHH! There's only HOURS left in the countdown and you're almost there! EEEE I was so excited!

My Mom and I dropped my dog and cats off at the Kennel and then we went to get our nails done! Only one girl was working on both of us, though, and it took FOREVER. Like... over two hours! Ugh the lady was nice but she was a huge mess. Oh well.

Mom then picked up Jonathan from school and I had a few errands to run. First I went to the bank to deposit some money. Then I went to the FedEx store. I made homemade calendars for Christmas presents, and I needed to get them all bound together!

They were able to do the spiral binding fine but I had to punch my own holes in the bottoms of each page so the calendar could be hung on the wall.

So I sat down at one of the little desks. While I was there, this little girl came and sat next to me while her Dad was waiting in line. She had a DVD player with her and guess what she was watching?

TANGLED!!!!!

So I chatted with her about that because I LOVE Tangled and so does she! I showed her the Calendar I made for my Mom because it had our picture with Rapunzel and Flynn Rider on it. The little girl LOVED it. We basically became best friends. She was absolutely adorable. I love children.

Then I stopped at the mall and got some new belts - there was a 70% off sale at NY & Company. WOOHOO. Unfortunately, even though I got my normal sizes, some of them were too small and one of them was too big! And of course I didn't notice until I got home. Oh well.

I also got jeggings at American Eagle because I lost my other fantastic pair. I actually lost a TON of clothes during this limbo time in between Disney trips. I must have left these clothes at one of the resorst or something because I lost my favorite gray skirt, my dark jeggings, my light gray braided belt, my neon flower bathing suit, a blue cover up, and my favorite dark jean shorts! I just have no idea where they went! I'm still upset about losing everything because those were some of my favorite clothing items and they don't make those specific items anymore. Ahh well. Sadness.

Anyways... my last stop was Walgreens so I could get some last minute items before my trip. And I purchased... THE SINGING DEER! He was on sale for only $5. It was necessary.

I went home and made some Christmas cookies! I hadn't had a chance to make any cookies from scratch all December and it was something that I had to do before I left!

Cut-out Christmas cookies were the first thing! AHH I have so much fun making these.

img0627rq.jpg

When I was making the frosting, I just randomly dripped the food coloring in and it turned out to be a hidden mickey! I swear I didn't even do it on purpose!! Even my food coloring knew I was going to Disney!!!!

img0628l.jpg

I took the cookies out of the oven and they were all ready to be frosted!

img0629ee.jpg

I got this Mickey Snowman cookie cutter from Walgreens last year and I just had to use it! It was so cute!

img0633ll.jpg

Mr. and Mrs. Gingerbread!

img0634da.jpg

A Christmas tree with our new Disney Christmas sprinkles we bought on the previous trip!

img0632jx.jpg

Here are all of the cookies once they were decorated:

img0631nxq.jpg

I also made the peanut butter blossom cookies with red and green sprinkles. These cookies are my FAVORITE. Oh my God they're so delicious.

img0626ue.jpg

Once I finished that, we opened our Christmas presents! We weren't doing very many gifts this year because our Disney trip was our main present. However, we still had a few gifts to open! (Please excuse my frumpy pajamas.)

dsc0095no.jpg

The first thing I opened was my boxed set of FRIENDS! I bought this on Black Friday but my Mom ended up giving it to me as a Christmas present. How thoughtful. :-) SUCH a good investment, let me tell you.

dsc0096t.jpg

I got Boy Meets World on DVD! YAYYYY! This show is perfection.

dsc0099hw.jpg

*Real Life Side Note: I don't think I have told a lot of you guys, but I am actually dating someone in college right now. And he looks EXACTLY like Cory Matthews. Like... everyone tells him that! Even the lady at Tim Horton's told her co-worker "Cory Matthews wants a bagel!" It's pretty hilarious. So yeah, I thought that was relevant lol.

My wonderful family also bought me a QUESADILLA MAKER! Like... HELLO!? Is there a more perfect present for me!? Ahh I totally freaked out. Yum, yum, YUM!

img0642u.jpg

Here are all three of my fabulous presents. THANKS FAMILY I LOVE YOU!

Also, remember how I mentioned the homemade calendars earlier in this update? I made one of them for my Mom! She absolutely LOVED it! She couldn't stop flipping through the pages. It was precious.

I figured I might as well share a few of the Disney related pages with you all. They turned out really cute. (I used Picnik to make the pages) You might recognize some of the pictures from my previous trip reports!

This is the one I showed the little girl at the Fed Ex store:

Once we finished up with our wonderful gifts, it was time for me to pack! It took FOREVER and I couldn't find a ton of stuff because half of my room was packed up for college. It was a little more time consuming than I expected.

I watched Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas and Toy Story while I was packing! Those were wonderful "night before Disney" choices.

img0641do.jpg

img0643vf.jpg

And of course, it wouldn't be a Disney trip if I didn't do some fancy nail painting!

Here's the left hand! (From left to right): Santa Jacket, Woody, Candy Cane, Disney Vacation Club Logo, and Reindeer!

img0636at.jpg

And here's the right hand! (From left to right): Mickey Balloons, Mike Wazowski, Snowman with Mickey Ears, and a Mickey Bar!

img0637hg.jpg

And the thumb of my right hand - THE MONORAIL!

img0638xr.jpg

My nails dried, I finally finished packing, went on my exercise bike, went on disboards, and fell asleep before midnight! I had to wake up really early in the morning! WOOHOO!

IT... WAS... TIME!

Yay! I love your between-Disney updates. I can imagine that having twelve days between trips would be awesome at anytime, but to have twelved days between Disney trips during the Christmas season would be amazing! It's such a busy and exciting time. I love it! :goodvibes

Ok this is totally :offtopic: but I just looked at the little emoticons and realized half of them are different, and the ones that aren't different are in different places. I'm a true DISnerd. :rotfl:

Anyway, It looks like you had tons of fun between your trips! I love ugly sweater parties. I want to have one this Christmas!

I have that same Mickey snowman cookie cutter! One of my DIS friends sent it to me for Christmas in 2010! I was so excited! :goodvibes

Those are great Christmas gifts. I love Boy Meets World, and that is SO awesome that your boyfriend looks like Cory Matthews! :rotfl:

LOVE the nails, as usual! The little details are amazing!

YAY can't wait for you to be back in Disney!

OMG i want the reindeer and the mickey snowman cutter and your calendar pages look amazing

The entire Friends series is an absolute must have for everyone. What a great gift!

I love and hate the day before vacation. Love it, because you're so excited to go on your trip, but hate it because the day just seems to drag on forever.

I love your FedEx Store story! I feel like I remember that from twitter maybe?? Your homemade calendar idea is so great! We used to do that a long time ago from this place called Kinko's (NO clue if that store even still exists) and we've been meaning to do it again for years but haven't! So basically thank you for reminding me that I really want to do that this year! :thumbsup2

That food coloring hidden Mickey is the coolest thing I've ever seen! Those cookies all look so good! I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT COOKIE CUTTER HAD MICKEY EARS ON IT!!!

FRIENDS DVD. Best purchase of your life right there. I remember telling you about it and like HOPING you found it on Black Friday because I feel like everyone should have that!

OKAY, your nails are perfect, and that's awesome because I have been planning to do Mickey balloons on my nails for my trip! Those are perfect! Love love love.

I was just catching up on your TR since your last update, and I saw someone else mentioned their boyfriend bought them AP's for Christmas, which made me wonder "Hmmm I wonder if Jess has a boyfriend that loves Disney too."

And then I kept reading and saw that you do have a boyfriend! Random time for me to be wondering that! But the real question is: Does he love Disney?

Yayy!! Day before Disney!! Soooo much fun! :goodvibes wow that calendar is awesome! I'll have to keep that in mind! ;) Oh and those cookies look delish!! your nails are amazing! I wish I was talented (and patient) enough to do that!

I second this question! ;)

Yay for the day before Disney! It is certainly one of the most exciting anxious times :hyper:
Love your Christmas presents. Also, the headband you are wearing in the Christmas present pics--is it from target? If so, I believe I have the same one :lmao: Its one of my favorites!
Congrats on dating a Cory Matthews look-a-like! That is awesome!!::yes::
I have the exact same quesadilla maker! It is wonderful!!! I want a quesadilla now!
Also, love the Disney nails. I would never have the patience to do my own, so kudos to you :thumbsup2
I am excited to see how this trip goes!!!!!!!!

I'm glad someone already asked the most important question you'll ever see on this entire TR... does the boyfriend love Disney?!!! Because, you know, you have about 100 Dis mothers here, and we all need to make sure he's worthy! :thumbsup2 But yeah, all joking aside, I hope you're happy and that he treats you like a princess! :goodvibes

And, I know you will all relate - I get butterflies whenever I read about the night-before-Disney things! It has been 10 years since I've been, but I remember how that feels, and I get the same feeling everytime I read about someone else's experience! It's so exciting!!!

Oh, and how ridiculous is this??? I had my night-before packing all planned out already, but you just inspired me to change it up a little... what better way to pack for Disney than to WATCH A DISNEY MOVIE while you're packing?!!! I am totally staging the luggage in the family room now. Seriously, why didn't this occur to me before?! :lmao:

Jealous, I want the Friends box set!:rotfl2:

Kadence wants me to paint her nails, Disney style......I suck at painting nails. I'll send her your way!:thumbsup2

What a great update :goodvibes
Gotta love Friends!! It doesn't matter how many times you see them they are still hilarious :rotfl2:
Looking forward to hearing about the rest of the trip!! Especially BLT, I hope to stay there one day :cloud9:

yay! what a great update!!! LOVE all your christmas time traditions! I make my mom calendars too! i LOVE yours!!! can't wait to read more!!!

What an exciting day before Disney! The cookies look so DELICIOUS! How the heck do you do your nails so well?? Whenever I try to paint my nails like that it turns into a huge mess! And I have that Mickey "LOVE" ring! I bought it on my last Disney trip!
