Welcome to my newest PTR! I am officially at 86 days and so excited about our upcoming trip! Our travel dates are July 14-20, 2012!!!

First off I will introduce myself and my wonderful family! I guess you could say this really is the story of FOURS! I will explain that later but we are a (traveling) family of four! We actually have an older son but he is too busy in college and big summer plans so he will not be traveling with us…leaving us with 4!

I will start with my DH….Keith.

This trip is actually all his idea. That in itself is a miracle! I firmly believe this is all because of me and he knows how much I love going to Disney World!

This will be his 3rd trip to WDW. The first trip in 2010 was also his idea but to shut me up! He heard the kids and I talking about our trip Spring Break of 2009 so much that he finally said if I would quit talking about it he would go!

See, Keith was a WDW hater even though he had never really been to Disney. I kept telling him he just didn’t know what he was missing! The 2010 trip was supposed to be 4 days at Disney and then the rest of the trip spent in St. Augustine. Well, on our last day, he surprised us by suggesting we stay at WDW for the remainder of our vacation! :hyper: Of course we jumped at this!! Over the course of that year I would hear him telling others that if nothing else Disney knows how to do things first class! I felt like I had succeeded at least a little bit!

As 2011 inched closer and closer, I was planning a girl’s trip with my DD and mom. Well our middle DS decided he wanted to go which led to Keith deciding he would go! Again this took me by surprise but moved quickly forward! I learned a lot about his dislikes and likes on that trip! I also suggested perhaps it would be easier to state these during the planning stages and not after we were in route to a particular place! :rolleyes2

Well DH is just full of surprises and several weeks ago he told me if I could get us to Disney on a very specific budget that we would go this summer. Many reasons were leading to this including a personally hard late winter, the fact that our middle son will be a senior this coming year and who knows where his path will lead him, and also our DD is getting closer and closer to college so we really must take advantage of opportunities when they arise! Now, I did have 5 other options for vacation locals all within the budget prior to his suggesting this trip. I thought a change of scenery would placate him but he suggested this trip…with a few requirements. I will get to those in a bit. I think I am rambling over and beyond the simple introductions!!

So what are his likes? Port Orleans and the boat ride to DTD, T-Rex, The Indiana Jones Show at DHS, Toy Story Mania, and all of Epcot. Plus he likes the table service restaurants, especially those with a unique ambience! Animal Kingdom is “okay”.

His dislikes? Character meals! Well characters in general really! Magic Kingdom---I know, I know!! :confused3 Star Tours at DHS (makes him sick)! Any shows in general and especially if singing and dancing is involved….well, I take that back slightly but that is something else to come later (which would go under “Likes”)! He doesn’t like parades and he DOES NOT like 1900 Park Fare. I have heard this many times over!! Oh, and he isn’t crazy about fireworks (Disney or not!).

Next we have DS…..Chris!

IMG_2500.jpg

Chris is 18 and still enjoys doing things with us which is nice! Chris’ first trip to WDW was in 2009 when I took him and Madison over Spring Break.

100_0646.jpg

That trip was near perfect in every way. Chris loves pretty much every single ride there is at Disney. He also learned how to eat at Disney. He was very picky going into the 2009 trip but I told him with the money I was spending he had to learn to eat a variety of foods. DD on the other hand learned how to be picky that trip!!

This will be Chris’ 4th trip to WDW.

Then there is DD….Madison who just turned 16.

DHS1.jpg

She is a petite little thing that loves everything about Disney! I have trained her well and she does an excellent job telling friends helpful tips! Madison loves the princesses with Ariel being her all-time favorite. She is also a big fan of Minnie Mouse and Goofy! Madison first went to Disney at the age of 4 (again with the 4’s!!).

IMG_0037.jpg

We only went to Magic Kingdom that trip because I was not aware of how cool Animal Kingdom was and I felt Epcot would bore her…and this trip was all about Madison!! This was also when she fell in love with Ariel!

IMG_0043.jpg

And Minnie Mouse!

We did not return until the 2009 trip

IMG0673_4.jpg

and she has been a total of 5 times.

The latest trip was just a few weeks ago when she marched on Main Street with her high school band! I am currently doing a TR about that trip if you are interested in reading along the link is in my siggie! Madison also loves pretty much every attraction. Our favorite is Tower of Terror!!

IMG_2387.jpg

See how much they have changed from 2009 to 2011! :(

And finally there is me! My name is Tisa and I am Disney obsessed.

IMG_1434.jpg

My co-workers joke that if I tell them something about Disney then it has to be the gospel truth! I can be a little over zealous and I am also an obsessive planner. My planning drives Keith crazy which is resulting in this PTR now rather than later! He “suggested” that I should discuss plans with people who appreciate my obsessions! Disney or not, Keith has no interest in discussing plans until it is time to embark on the trip!

This will be my 7th trip to Disney. The first time was in 1986 and I fell in love with Epcot. I miss the old Future World exhibits and wish a new attraction would be a Time Machine to transport me back so I can experience some of those long-gone but never forgotten attractions!

Each trip I have taken has been unique and there is always something new and different to add and experience. I think that is one reason I enjoy going to WDW over and over! There are always wonderful memories made and (sometimes) memories we want to forget!!

My latest trip was chaperoning Madison’s high school band trip in March, as I stated before. That trip required no planning on my part and proved to be challenging for an OCD Disney Planner! However, that trip also forms how I am doing this trip! I am planning but there will be some loose ends as well!

So now you have met the FOUR people in our group! Next up we will discuss the FOUR days and how I managed to meet the budget requirements!

Hahaha, your flashback picture killed me!!! I have one of those.

Oh yeah.....totally stylin'!

Joining in! You do not look old enough to have a son in college!

Love the older photos of how much the kids have changed.

My DH is similar to yours. He really does enjoy WDW, but wants no part of the planning (or hearing me chatter about it). Thank goodness for the DIS!

Looking forward to reading more!

If it makes you feel any better, my DH doesn't really like Magic Kingdom either. He tolerates it for me & our son.

I love your flashback photo!

Your kids are so cute! I hope my son still wants to go to Disney with me when he's their age.

Can't wait to hear more.

:welcome: Glad you are here!! :goodvibes

Glad your here!! :yay: Oh my ya'll were really stylin'!! My mom would probably kill me posting that picture of her and those lovely '80's glasses! Ah the grand '80's...really miss those days!

Very imaginative title! Sign me up!:)

:welcome: Thank you! Glad to have to have you here!! :goodvibes

Count me in!! We are going in July too!!!

Joining in!:goodvibes We're going in July as well. Can't wait to read more about your plans!:thumbsup2

:welcome: :welcome: Yay for July!!! We have been the first of June but that is the latest into summer. I am a little nervous on the heat but it can't be any worse than in Mississippi at that time of the year! The humidity is suffocating here!!

Oh, thanks! Technically he is my step-son but he is like my own. I would have been a little too young for a baby for sure if he was biological.

So glad to have you reading along!! Chris is the one who has changed the most. He grew like a weed in 2 years! But I do love looking back and glad you liked seeing those too! :goodvibes And I am glad I am not alone with the DH situation...I am so thankful for the Dis!!

:welcome: That is exactly what Keith does: he tolerates it! I am glad to see there are others who know what I go through! :) I feel lucky our kids still like doing things with us. I know there are a lot of parents that don't have that luxury. I think they are cute too but then I am biased and a little partial! :upsidedow Thanks for the compliment! It will make Chris blush!!

We will be there at the same time as you! We get there on the 13th though. Can't wait to see if we will have any of the same ADRs.

I’ll begin the budget portion with the tickets. Looking at my budget spreadsheet, it is more than obvious that the majority of our budget will be coming from the rooms and food. And the food is the major majority there!

For the tickets we are going the route we went in 2010….military tickets. We know from experience that 4 days is simply not enough for doing all four parks. Not for what we like to do but I am making this work since it gets me back to WDW! :goodvibes Plus this year the tickets are with Park Hoppers and that should make all the difference!!

I will be utilizing Park Hoppers, Fast Passes, Rope Drops and EMH on occasions. We also have a free day built in. We will have afternoon breaks (especially to deal with the heat!) and we will be going to Epcot 3 of the 4 days!! (per Keith’s request and due to my love of Epcot I have no issues here!!)

I had contemplated adding the Parks and More to try out a water park and Disney Quest but it really would be cramming a lot in and Keith has no desire to go to a water park, regardless of how cool the park is (or hot the weather is)!! So I decided to focus on some other options around the world! The kids never knew this was an option so they have no idea what they will be missing!!

So we have FOUR days in FOUR parks!!!! :yay:

Now then my charge from my Dear Hubby was to come up with a trip plan that would meet the budget requirements we had for a summer trip. Since originally we were not going to be able to do a summer vacation, we had not been saving as we normally do thus lower funds. I played and played with the numbers and nothing I came up with fit into the budget.

I really wanted a Saturday-Saturday trip but Keith had given me two charges. The rooms: We were to stay at Port Orleans (either Riverside or French Quarter) and food, as in table service meals at cool places. So that was a challenge! I will begin with the rooms!

I thought about renting DVC points but I just could not get things to calculate, especially with the ADRs I had going on! Then I had a brainstorming moment! Maybe if we shorten our last day to a Friday check-out! It cut down a little bit but even better was getting a quote on military rates for the rooms!

I did a non-obligation quote from Dreams Unlimited. I have used them in the past and figured if nothing else I would have an idea of the cost for Sunday-Friday (we will be getting a free off-site room on Saturday night). When the quote came through it was less than I had expected so I was ready to book! :cool1: The TA asked if I wanted the DDP so I asked for a quote. It wasn’t too bad but when I calculated what I figured we would spend on food plus tax and tips it was cheaper to not use the DDP. We like to order appetizers and if we get a dessert we may share. Keith doesn’t eat his desserts so usually we are eating off of his plus ours. I tell the TA we probably will go with the room only and my perception (since it was via e-mail) was that she was miffed at me not going with the DDP.

She told me she was “just trying to save me money” but it seemed very high pressured. I explained our dining preference and I had run the numbers. For us, it just seemed more economical to go OOP this trip. Plus I have 7 TS ADRs in 5 days so some of our meals would be OOP anyhow. She said “I will have to rerun the quote and get it to you this evening but using the DDP would be better.” So, the evening came and went and nothing in regards to a new quote. So, what does any seasoned Disney traveler do? I went straight to the source of course! Within 10 minutes we were booked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we had the military discount to boot!! There was only one catch!

And this catch was known from the moment I got the first quote….no military rate rooms were available at any mods except one. When I told Keith he said as long as we got to ride the boat to Port Orleans he would be fine with it.

So obviously we aren’t staying here….Port Orleans Riverside which we loved in 2010

Or Port Orleans French Quarter which we really enjoyed in 2011

We also stayed at Coronado Springs in 2010 and liked it

But we have never stayed at Caribbean Beach and this was the one mod available. So after this stay we will have another FOUR…we will have tried all FOUR moderates!!

Now, I have absolutely no problem staying here and after seeing a bazillion pictures of CBR from another TR (mickeystoontown) I am siked! Keith is very much a person who doesn’t like change but he was okay with this one because we do have a plan for the boat ride to POR one night. I am really excited to see some of these sights!!

Well, we have covered most our trip revolving around FOURs with a Party of 4, Tickets for 4 days, and now staying at all 4 resorts! Oh, yeah and the 4 years in a row!!! (2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012!!!). I guess coming up I should discuss those 4 parks, huh?! Nah, I think next we will go over those ADRs!!! That is after all what this family loves….to eat!!! :cloud9:

Pretty great that you can use the military discount! Caribbean Beach looks like a beautiful resort. Since we're DVC members, I'm anxiously waiting for June so I can book our resort for January. I think we're going to try Old Key West this trip. Never stayed there and I'm on a quest to stay everywhere! :goodvibes It's really hard to choose I think (other than some resorts just don't fit my budget:sad2:) cause they all look beautiful and have their own charm! I loved staying at POP in February and if I could only stay at Values, I'd be fine with it. It's just so fun!

Can't wait to hear about the ADR's. Only on the DIS can one be excited for someone else's dinner ressies!
