AGLET – We're Gonna Tour The World Together! Updated 11/9!!!

Animal Kingdom is a weird one for us- we usually don't spend a ton of time there, but we really like it... we just don't need to do the safari every time, and Ben doesn't like shows (even FOTLK- which I love!)
We did the Backstage Safari tour, and it was so cool- the theme park part is such a teeny tiny bit of what goes on there!

Thanks!!! It was chocolate with chocolate icing - but really it can be any flavor! Carrot might be cute for Easter too!

I'd totally visit the hedgehog exhibit! I think that'd be a really cute one! :thumbsup2

Nature shows really can be depressing! I don't watch too many of them either, I start yelling at the cameramen to help out the animals (but again, I do get why they really can't).

Hahahaha they did all rotate! I'm like, I totally forgot half of these existed!. And I guess, since it's here, :firefight:hourglass.

:rotfl:

Haha, hedgehogs are nocturnal! Ours stays pretty well hidden until ALL lights and noises are gone and then makes a racket on his hamster wheel. So.. super awesome animals (especially when they sneeze. Or eat new foods), but REALLY terrible nature exhibit.

It's supposed to be some part of the ethical code of nature shows or something. WHATEVER. It is way more ethical to save dying baby penguins in my opinion.

The hand jive! That's what they teach. Too many repeat viewings of Grease in my childhood and I now know it backwards and forwards.

FotLK reminds me a lot of Cirque du Soleil, only with a better storyline. I love the tumble monkeys the most. :goodvibes

Animal Kingdom is definitely best in low crowd time since SO much of the park experience is visual. Hard to see all the awesome details and really explore when the paths are packed!

My smilies are back!! Hooray!! :cloud9:

So glad you enjoyed FOTLK! It's our absolute favorite and a must when we go. That's honestly our draw to AK. I get goosebumps every time when the show starts. :cheer2:

I want to be able to use the dancing guy. Hmmm... I'll have to work him in somehow...

Getting caught up too...darn DIS don't go down again :headache:

Love the cake :thumbsup2 and the peep wars :rotfl2: we had some stale peeps that we enlarged I the microwave 4 of them ballooned into what looked like a loaf of bread ;)

Glad you enjoyed you brief morning at AK, we too love the FotLK show...has me in tears every time...too good!

They sort of guide you to an area, from what we've experienced. You can see from every side just fine, and there aren't that many rows, so even on the back row (which we kind of like so we can have backs), you are still not far away from the action.

You probably are in the minority. Maybe you could youtube it and see if you think it's something you'd enjoy. Our girls love watching the tumble monkeys and seeing Timon and Pumbaa and Simba. Hope you like it!

What MeMom said! :thumbsup2

I'm always a fan of checking things out on YouTube before, to see what it's like. Don't watch the whole thing beforehand though, some surprises are good!

I know what you mean, it's sometimes hard to spend lots of time there, especially for us because we're not really into the thrill rides.

The Backstage Safari tour does sound really cool!

Hahaha I should have remembered that! Night vision glasses, perhaps??

Agreed. I could never be a nature film documentary person! I'd have a little menagerie of animals that I had to save!

Hahaha that's it! It is a bit Cirque in nature, with all of the stunts and visuals going on. The tumble monkeys are really amazing!

It's definitely going to be a must-see for us going forward!

Hahaha just toss him into the regular storyline! I don't think he needs an excuse to dance! :thumbsup2

It was only down for me over the weekend, so far, smooth sailing over here!

Hahaha thank you! Peeps are so fun to microwave, aren't they? (Poor things!)

It really is an amazing show! I'm so glad we finally saw it!

I can't wait to see FOTLK. I had no idea it was an elaborate show like that when we went in '09. I'm really sad we didn't see either shows then. Going to change that for this year!!

We strolled into the blissfully-uncrowded DHS (isn't it weird how the crowds will inexplicably congregate in one park, and not another? AK had no EMH's, nothing special. The lure of the giraffes was just too strong for most, I guess.) and decided our first stop should be to the Muppets store, still in search for the elusive Beaker hat.

We walked in, no hat to be seen. I asked the CM behind the counter as to their whereabouts.

CM: We literally cannot keep those on the shelves. I THINK we're supposed to get more in by the end of the week, but I really don't know. Your best bet is to just keep checking!

Boo. Okay. It was to the point that I was scanning every single cart and store window that I could see, and stopping in a great percentage of all of the stores in the parks we were in. I could easily keep up this obsessive behavior for a few more days! :thumbsup2

Since we were in the area (really, even if we weren't in the area at all, we'd still end up here) we decided to pay our good friends, the Muppets, a visit.

(Side note: We just bought The Muppets movie, has anyone else enjoyed the "pause/Disney intermission" feature??? Love.)

We walked into the preshow area approximately halfway through the show. Now, both of us are HUGE fans of the preshow (possibly even more than the actual show itself), and we always make it a point to watch the preshow in its entirety at least once during a trip. We briefly debated whether or not we wanted to just linger after this cycle of the show ended and then watch the whole thing, but then a moment of brilliance struck.

Me: Or we could leave and get a snack.
Wingnut: CARROT CAKE COOKIE.
Me: YES.

We swiftly left the theater, going back out the way we came, passing the same CM that had greeted us moments earlier. I had an excuse planned if she looked at us funny ("I have to go to the bathroom"), but she didn't even blink an eye as we flew past.

We entered the Writer's Stop, and for possibly the only time in our lives, there was absolutely no lingering or debate at the bakery case.

"One carrot cake cookie, please!"

We had never had one before, and were excited to experience the massive and legendary cakey goodness for ourselves.

Oh, hi.

A bit of a cross-section.

Rich, dense, and amazing, this cookie is absolutely everything it lives up to be and more. Two moist carrot cake cookies sandwich a layer of cream cheese "frosting" (quotation marks in place because, does it count as frosting when it's not on top of said item?)

(That might be one of my most philosophical statements to date.)

Wingnut put it simply, "That was the best snack we had on our trip." He maintained this stance through the many more treats we enjoyed during the week.

The Writer's Stop was pretty empty when we stopped (ha) by, and we snagged the adorable little corner counter seat.

We hung out for a few minutes, inhaling our cookie and people-watching.

Our plate, literally 2 minutes after sitting down.

Nom nom nom...

We probably could have easily eaten one each of these, but it made us (well, me at least) feel significantly more virtuous to split one.

Snack consumed, we returned to the Muppets, again passing by that same CM, who just smiled at us entering AGAIN.

Hi, again. :wave2:

We were excited to see that the show was LITERALLY just starting.

Yay, 12 more minutes of Muppets whimsy!

My pictures in here are pretty pathetic, but I do love it, so they stay. Sorry.

Say it with me, "They're just tourists! What do they know?"

"We've also got Donald Duck!"
"GET OUT!!"
"Quack!"

When most of the people were entering the theater, I gave up and (gasp) very quickly used my flash. I know, I know. I'm sorry. :ssst:

PIGS! IN! SPACE!!

We then entered the theater, I went back to my rule-abiding ways, and got a bad picture of the Yell and Howl projector.

Bean Bunny found, we headed out of the theater. Where to next? Wingnut's choice...

I'm crazy behind (again)

Congrats on the (no so) new job :goodvibes

That cake looks awesome... I'm a little sad you didn't share

okay, would you believe that I've never been to FOTLK? Especially since I'm the one crazy person who can spend multiple full days at AK...in fact (gulp) I've never set foot in Camp Minnie and Mickey. I feel I need to change my evil ways pronto!

Umm... Carrot Cake Cookie? I disappear for like ever and miss a carrot cake cookie?? It looks so delicious. I must have one.

Carrot cake cookie???!! Oh my! I've never heard of such a delight! My DH will go nuts when I tell him!
Oh dear, another unsuccessful Muppet hat look! I hope you find it soon!

Um. Num? How did we miss that? Guess I didn't do enough research. Wow. Can't wait to try it. I'm hungry now.

I so have to make a list of the snacks we must try!! DH will LOVE the carrot cake cookie! (and I probably will as well!!)

I'm sorry you can't find your hat! I've been on the search for things in stores before (usually for Winnie the Pooh merchandise that is just NOT To be found!)

Happy to hear that DHS held up to the low crowds you were expecting over there! I've used a combo of touring plans and easyWDW to plan our days so I hope they hold true!

Love the Muppets!

That Carrot Cake cookie looky really yummy! I actually recently developed a liking for carrot cake so that's definitely one I want to try. Were there any nuts in it? (Hope not)

Oh goodness, the carrot cake cookie is so divine. I had it for the first time last year, and now I will not go again without getting one.

PIGS IN SPACE!!! Absolutely my favorite sketch on the Muppet Show. Every time I watched it, I hoped for Pigs in Space. Maybe I just thought Link was just an idiot. :rotfl2:

Best update!! Muppets are one of my favorites, and the Writer's Stop is a place Ben and I end up at a lot. That corner counter spot is a place I have spent any a moment waiting for Ben to get an iced coffee (and a delicious carrot cake cookie)

That carrot cake cookie does look delish! I have to try one and soon! So many treats, such little time!

Love the muppet pictures. It's definitely one of my favs and I think my nephews will love it.

Yay caught up on another TR! :thumbsup2

Peep jousting? um - fabulous idea. I love it when my sweets puff up all huge and whatnot. Have you ever tried putting a gummy bear in a glass of water and then checking back in on it in a day or so? ::yes::

Glad you gave AK another chance and that it was somewhat successful. Craziness that DHS was empty while AK was packed. :confused3

That carrot cake cookie does look good...and I'm not even a carrot cake fan!

Hahaha I've been behind on a bunch of reports too, it's okay!!

Thank you!!! :goodvibes

Awww I'm sorry! Here's a "cake" for you too! :cake:

What??? You definitely need to see it!!! It really is awesome!

Ooooh they are REALLY good! :thumbsup2

Those carrot cake cookies are soooo good !! Love, Love, LOVE them !!.

Aren't they seriously one of the best things to ever be called a cookie???

Carrot cake cookie???!! Oh my! I've never heard of such a delight! My DH will go nuts when I tell him!

I've only seen them at the Writer's Stop - they're definitely awesome!

Hahaha they're pretty easy to miss, since they're only available in one place! But they're definitely worth a try!

I had a list of snacks in my head that I knew I wanted to try! It's good to be organized!! :rotfl:

I didn't really look at the park crowd planners before our trip (never had needed them before) but they were pretty right on my apps!
