Cute rings! :lovestruc

Thanks :)

Preliminary Message: This post has nothing to do with the designer of my invitations. She was amazing and did a phenomenal job. I could not ask for more. What happened was simply an oversight by me and by her and she is in no way at fault.

Now for the story.....

It was Thursday evening and DF had just returned from Chicago. We went to meet my mom at Michael's to buy the adhesive to assemble the invitations for the wedding. We took a while to figure out which one to buy exactly and we settled on one that said permanent really big and extra strong hold. From there we went and got some burgers to give us energy to do this.

We were only doing 30 invitations and when we finally got to my apartment it was about 8:30pm. I got out all of the pieces for the invitations here is the list of what we had:
*Black pocketfolds
*purple mattes
*invitation cards
*times guides (go in pocketfold)
*RSVP Postcard (goes in pocketfold)
*Park Ticket Card (goes in pocketfold)
*accomodations card (goes in pocketfold)
*registration and website card (goes in pocketfold)
*purple belly bands
*purple envelopes
*stitch .65 cent stamps from zazzle large size
*yoda .32 cent stamps from zazzle medium size for postcards
*custom with picture address labels from zazzle
*custom monogram stickers in square from zazzle

So we set everything out and tried to figure out what our plan of attack was. We tested the adhesive and it really seemed to work so we decided that we would each do the following:

DF (Greg):
would adhere the invitation cards to the mattes

Teresa:
would adhere the matted invitation cards to the pocket folds

Mom:
Would adhere the back of the belly band to the pocket fold and fold them all over so they could be stuck down with the sticker

After all of this was completed we would go back and put in the inserts. Everything was going splendidly as we assembled everything. Greg of course got done first and he decided he would go and put the postcard stamps on the postcards.

This is where everything BLEW UP!!!:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

I already knew the stamps for the postcards were too big but what I had not realized is that there are USPS regulations that say I can NOT put them on the opposite side of the address (as in the left side). Here is an image to go by.

delgado_rsvp_375x6_back-1.jpg

When Greg researched it and we started to find the technicalities and I started to panic for a few reasons:

* RSVPs are due by May 15th which means as long as I get them out by saturday it gives them a month to respond which is already short.
*Due to the above I do not have time to get the postcards re-designed to move the address down on the card and make room for the stamp it will take too long
*Due to the above reason I do not have time to get zazzle to print new custom yoda stamps and plus I paid a lot of money for those stamps!

So now we are at the point of what the Hell do i Do!!! As I am freaking out internally and mad externally at myself for not checking this I go and post on the Disbrides groups asking for help. Of course Victoria was online and she starts getting upset because she didn't leave enough space with her design. I tried to assure her it was not her fault and that no one caught it! I did not even think to check that.

In the meantime my mom is on her phone and I looked at her to find out what she was doing. She tells me " you need to sit there and calm down and do something else until I am finished" hahaha I felt like a scolded 5 yr old but it was funny.

My mom got on the phone with the younger brother of her best friend who just happens to be the postmaster at the USPS location her works at. How convenient right?!?!

Aaron agreed to meet us at a burger joint so he could see my invitation and the postcard and try to come up with a solution. Keep in mind by now it is 10:45pm.

So we meet him and he looks at it and starts coming up with all these ideas of stamps I could use. He suggested the celebration forever stamps because they are small enough to go on the card but we would have to fold them over the top of the postcard a little which he said would be fine and they are landscape which means the image won't be sideways. Here is what they look like.

celebratestamp.jpg

So now I am sitting there stuck with what am I going to do with 40 .32 cent stamps? I can't use them on regular mail because they are not .45 cents. So Aaron suggests I use them on my thank you cards and better yet buy 40 disney postcards and use those as my thank you cards then i can use the stamps and the thank you cards will go with my wedding. :yay::yay::yay::yay:

I simply could not believe that Aaron someone who knew nothing about my wedding and is a guy (no offense guys) was able to come up with such an amazing idea. Maybe it is because I was so distraught that I did not think of this but I am so glad he did. So now I have a plan for my thank you cards! He did make a point to say to put the stamp on before I write on the cards because people make that mistake all the time and they don't leave room for the stamp.

So after this we go on our way back to our apartment because we still have to finished the invitations! It is about midnight now and we are all getting exhausted. Mom and I finish out the invitations doing the adhesive. We then make an assembly line out of the inserts minus the RSVPs and start putting them in the invitations. Greg comes to help towards the end and we finished at about 12:45am.

This morning my mom located 40 celebrate stamps and also took my sample invite to see what the postage would be. I got lucky and it will only cost .65 cents to mail the invites so the stitch stamps are enough postage!!!

Tonight all I have left to do is the following:
*put the celebrate stamps on the postcard RSVPs then insert them in the pockets
*close the pocketfolds and seal the belly bands with the stickers
*put the invites in the envelopes and seal them
*address the envelopes at school today
*drop them in the mailbox

So while this wedding crisis may not be the same or even the magnitude that would cause other brides to freak out it did for me. I am still not 100% on the solution because I got the yoda stamps specifically to go with the postcard because of the wording on the flip side...see below:

delgado_rsvp_375x6_front.jpg

There is a yoda quote on the RSVP and I just thought I had designed it all so well with putting a yoda stamp on them too. I know the colors will go better with the celebrate stamp but you guys know how it is.

So for future brides what did I learn:
*if you make a postcard RSVP make sure it is the right dimensions for what the USPS requires for a postcard
*make sure your return address is on the Right (not left) side of the card
*make sure it is far enough down that there is room for a stamp
*if you order from zazzle get the smallest stamp you can get for this project

I hope you guys have a magical day!

Teresa

I so relate to what you have going on. My poor mother had to listen to me as I was about to call off the entire wedding because there was a major conference at the Swan and Dolphing during our wedding. Not a big deal looking back, but at the time I couldn't even breath.:rotfl:

:scared1: Yikes! Glad you got your issue resolved with the stamps etc.. I love your RSVP postcards so I'm kinda sad it somewhat didn't work the way you wanted with the yoda stamps =( but in the end it worked out & you're lucky you had the contact from the USPS at least! Crisis somewhat averted... The celebrate stamps are cute though :goodvibes It's only in times like these that I'm glad I only have 7 guests :rotfl:

I hate that feeling that everything is ruined and it scares you to death. That is definitely what I felt like. Maybe I was being dramatic as the invites have now been sent out and people are receiving them already. Everyone loves them and of course they don't notice any problems!

Yea having 7 guests would be nice then I would not have to worry about anything. Like now I am trying to figure out if I want to scrapbook/craft my own programs...I think I am going to just because I think they will be really nice to have as keepsakes...darn it! Yes it was a close call but it is ok because it all worked out fine in the end...after my mom fixed everything gotta love moms!

Your ring is so unique! :goodvibes And I'm glad the invitation crisis got settled!!!

Thank you for the unique comment. I realize there are several people who think it is probably hideous or not appropriate but I have always been one of those people I guess that pushes envelopes. I am so glad the invite crisis got settled especially after round 2 of the crisis.

Other stuff that has gotten accomplished since I last updated
*****
-Invitations were mailed

-organized my ADRs and my itinerary's for the wedding trip and honeymoon which thus led me to realize that I need to change the bridal portrait day

- organized individual family dinners for before the wedding so that we get some time with each section
*June 28th- Day we arrive dinner with DF family at TREX
*June 29th- Day my mom's side gets in to town dinner at Maya Grill
*June 30th- Early evening dinner with my dad's side at Garden Grill

- updated my to do list which is rather large and most of it I can not work on until after school gets out which leaves me a few weeks in June to get things done before we leave

-started working with wendy from ever after printables to make our welcome folder packet information

-decided to nix the bridesmaid necklaces and just give them peacock hair clips and a card from me

I do have a couple of questions for you guys:

For those of you that had randy and did a first look how early did he show before your ceremony? How early did your hair and makeup people show up?

How did you get your dress to WDW?

Where can you go or call to get a bunch of photo pass cards to give to your guests?

My next question is actually centered on what I want to get DF for his wedding present but I need help figuring out the logistics. However since he reads this I can not ask the question here or on FB so if anyone sees this and they want to help me can you please message me on FB or message me on here please!!!!????

Ok well that is it for now.

Have a magical day,
Teresa

Mmm your menu sounds yummy! The GF's brownies are delicious, so you are in good hands. I'm pretty sure my guests said good things about the coffee too, and my friends are snobby about coffee. (I didn't have any because I didn't want to spill it on my dress!)

As for your questions, Beaute Speciale showed up about 4 hours before my ceremony, but I didn't do a first look.

I got my dress to WDW via airplane seat, but I am insane.:cool1:

When do you want to give the Photopass cards to your guests? I'm sure you could just ask a photographer when you get there and he/she would give you a bunch. :)

Your dessert party sounds wonderful! I am also looking at having my dessert party at the marina, so I may be talking with you in the future!

Sounds like you have a lot accomplished, it is coming up so fast!

The DP menu looks tasty!! YUM!

Congrats on getting your invites out and your ADRs organized! So fun!

Wish I could answer some of your questions! I'm just driving my dress up. I say take the plane route and buy it a seat!

I'm so excited you're having your dp in the GF Marina! I love that spot. The menu looks amaaazing. I don't know if you've mentioned it but are you going to have photography during the dp? Those photos would be amazing!

Mmm... your dessert menu sounds super yummy! I'd eat nearly everything! :rotfl:

I'm shipping my dress and my MoH's dress down to Carolyn Allen's, and then they'll deliver it the morning of and steam it. I figure it's one less thing we have to worry about for the plane ride down. (I'm dealing with my parents, including my mother who's never flown before, and Vicky has two kids)

I love your dessert menu :lovestruc I am taking my dress with me on the plane.. They told me I could.. I'm not letting them out of my sight! :rotfl:

Teresa,

Your DP looks great! Can't wait to hear about the bananas foster station.

I am shipping my dress, the fairy godchildren's dresses and 2 other dresses of mine to Carolyn Allen's. I have enough stuff to take down without worrying about all of this.

I just found out from Randy that he will be there the morning of at 9am and he wants me completely dressed and ready to do the first look at 9:25am! Haha I love him he is so exact. So now I just need to call beaute and let them know.

I need to get a hold of carolyn allen's because I think I might just ship the dress so I don't have to worry about it.

I want to give them the photopass cards in their welcome folders so that way they have them from the beginning of their trips.

Oh I can't wait to let you know how the process goes with the marina. So far so good and everything is ready to go. I am not doing any decor other than what they normally do I just don't see the need.

I will have Randy Chapman for photography that night and I will have STVS videography as well.

This is what I am thinking about doing with my dress as well. I just need to contact them. I don't want to have to worry about the dress.

I have thought about taking it on the plane but there will be two dresses in that bag and quite honestly I don't want to carry it...I am kind of lazy. I am flying jetblue and I have never flown them so I am just not sure how safe it will be on the plane.

Hooray for another person shipping their dress. I will definitely inform you guys on the bananas foster station as I don't think there is anyone that has done one.

•Mmm, the desserts sound so delicious! Great choices!

I am so glad we have the menu we do and for the price! HOORAY! :thumbsup2

Mmm, the dessert party sounds delicious! All of it will be so tasty, but I have to say that the last time I was in Disney i was obsessed with any of their desserts that were fruit tarts! So yummy and the fruit was always really fresh.

I also love the fruit tarts and agreed the fruit is so so fresh

Ok so since I do not know how to add a poll to my posts here are the pictures. I have 2 necklaces and 2 pairs of earrings I could wear to my wedding with my wedding dress. This is posing a major problem for me.

Now the only reason this is ok is that I have a short to the knees wedding dress that has a miniature train in the back that I will wear for the dessert party.

ok before I show you the pictures here are the things to help give you perspective:

This is my dress (not altered and needing steaming, the detail has silver/grey and pink thread with silver grey/white beading)

This is my short dress (the detail is gold)

These are my shoes for my main ceremony wedding dress with the peacock feather as I will have a peacock shoe clip

Now for the jewelry options

Option 2:

Option 3:

I need everyone's opinions so please please help!

Teresa

Love them all. But I think I like #3 the best! =]

I like how it looks too but I really wanted a colored necklace and now I don't know what to do.

I like number 3 the best too! But, I think number 2 would go with your peacock theme nicely.

I keep thinking about the theme too and how I wanted a colored necklace

***So what about this which option with the ceremony dress and which one with the dessert party dress? The good thing is I have options I just don't know which one with which dress....******
