regular line or accessible line?

We are going to Disneyland in a few weeks with my mom who is an amputee. She mostly uses crutches and since she's been using them for 51 years, she's a pro! We will be taking her wheelchair though so she can sit in-between rides.

My question is..do we HAVE to use the handicap/wheelchair entrance on each ride? I know they will need to slow/stop the walkway on some rides like HM but can she still use the regular line on some and see the preshow and all? I'd hate for her to miss out on the queues since sometimes those are just as much fun as the ride itself!

And what will they do with her crutches? Will someone take them to the exit for her?

Most lines are mainstreamed so even if she took her wheelchair she would be in the same line (at least up until a point if there were stairs or other transfer issues). But no she does not have to use a wheelchair or ecv. She can use her crutches. Usually you just put them in your ride car with you.
Have fun!

OP is going to DisneyLAND where many lines (most of Fantasyland) are not mainstreamed. :)

I would suggest using the alternate/wheelchair entrance (aka the exit) on the dark rides in Fantasyland and the Matterhorn. The switchback are pretty narrow and trying to get crutches through would be a real pain.

I know TOT "sometimes" involves a flight of stairs and I'm not sure of the logistics of how that works. I've never had to use the stairs but have seen the queue on them, so clearly there's a split at some point? You can see the preshow without the stairs.

Splash Mt. and Space Mt have some steepish bits and frankly, nothing in the queue worth extra effort to see. BTMRR has stairs and again, nothing exciting to see.

When it's *really* busy (I've only seen it once) the Jungle Cruise line goes up and down stairs.

Really, aside from TOT and HM, I can't think of much in the "preshow" or line category that is a "don't miss." Oh, Indy's line is pretty good but I think it may also be pretty accessible.

Unfortunately, while DL is my home park, I have never done the park with someone with mobility issues so I don't have as much awareness- trying to rack my brain. :) I hope some of that helps?

I may be wrong, because I also didn't have mobility issues when I was last at Disneyland, but I remember there being some stairs in the Indy line.

Here's a link to the Disneyland information page about touring ith mobility disabilities.
http://disneyland.disney.go.com/pla...bilities/?name=MobilityDisabilityGSDetailPage

It's not very detailed, but you can see that there are fairly few attractions that are not accessible at all.
If you can't get more detailed information here, you can ask the CM at the attraction entrance.
Some of the answers might also depend on what type of crutches she has. Traditional under the arm crutches are longer to stow in a ride car and also take up more room in a ride car.
Forearm crutches are smaller and take a little less space to use because they are shorter.

Thank you all so much.:)

I guess we'll just play it by ear and ask each CM before the ride which would be the best way for her to go on.

We've never been to Disneyland but were just in Disney World in Nov. and I know for sure I want her to see the HM, TOT, POTC and TSM queues. Those 4 stand out the most for me but I'm sure there are others.

Her crutches are the 'under the arms' kind so I never really figured she'd be able to take them with her on the ride.

Thanks again!

There are stairs on Indiana Jones too...and that has a preshow mainstreamed area and then you break off if mobility is an issue.

I'll certainly defer to you on that one. I haven't done Indy in several years. The jerkiness is so uncomfortable it stopped being worth it. I don't recall stairs but I could easily have forgotten then, because they just aren't an issue for me.

The POTC queue at DL is nothing special. The TSM queue has Mr. Potato Head, but he's easily enjoyable from outside the queue.

My memory is that they don't always use the stairs. If the line is short, they don't have to use the bit that has stairs. At least, I think that that is what I remember.

Agreed that POTC queue isn't a big deal.

TSM is mainstreamed, no separate line.

Indy does have stairs, so the accessible line uses an elevator.
