So, we checked out of Sheraton Vistana Resort today (very happy here) and go to DTD to do some shopping. Got to BCV's and checked in ...... long lines, even though we did online check-in. Gave them out phone number to call when the room was ready. Well, 4 pm comes and goes and DH goes back to registration. the keys to our villa had been ready for 3 HOURS and nobody called to let us know. Stormalong Bay is so vcrowded you can't get a chair in the part that actually is open. Get to our 1 bedroom villa and it is in the worst part of the resort overlooking the road! Very loud noise all the time with trucks, buses and cars wizzing by along with fumes. Can't even sit out on the balcony and carry on a conversation. So, DH goes back to registration to complain. Thre is no other room available (well, if they had called us when the room was ready instead of 3 hours later, maybe we could have gotten a different room). We can have a different villa tomorrow. So, that means we have to pack up everything tomorrow and move again! YUCK!!!!

The condition of the room is also not very good. Lots of dents in the walls, tables, refrigerator shelves broken/missing. Just not very good. We have been DVC members since 2005 and this is the worst we have had. We stayed here at BCV's last April and we had a wonderful stay, but there isn't much magic here now.

Just curious-are they charging you for the room change? Once we complained about our room at VWL (after spending 5 minutes in the room), they said they had no other room and couldn't move us til the next day. "But of course you'll have to pay the fee for the move since you slept in the room for one night."

Sorry that you're not happy with your room, but try to not let it put a damper on your vacation. Here's hoping that they will move you to a better location!

Pay what fee?

Isn't that how DVC works - occasionally you get the lemon because someone has to?

Not to be a snot, but I hope DVC does charge the room change if the OP moves (the fee makes sense since the room now has to be cleaned out of schedule) - because they're going to force someone else into that room that wouldn't have gotten stuck.

We had a very similar check in problem this past early November, plus we had an exhausted baby and it was past bedtime. I nearly fell apart begging for a room, turns out they"forgot" to call us when it had been ready for hours. Then it took an hour to find a sleeping solution as several pack and plays were broken. This ruined the magic, we are staying off site this year. Horrible. Hang in there.

It's the room full cleaning fee, the amount depends on the size of the room.

•Studio/Inn Room - $30.00
•One-Bedroom - $45.00
•Two-Bedroom - $60.00
•Three-Bedroom - $75.00

I don't think there's a case to waive the fee because of the location but I would take pictures of the items in poor condition and send them to member satisfaction.

YIKES! DH is calling the front desk right now about any possibility of this fee. The front desk is now telling him that yes, there is a $75.00 fee to change tomorrow. The front desk person is now talking to a supervisor. We complaind about the road noise before we even got the luggage to the room. Now the front desk lady is saying it is $45.00 to change the room, "it's in your DVC contract". DH still complaining about the issue and they have decided to "waive the fee" to move us tomorrow.

I believe the condition of the room is not up to Disney standards. As I said in the original post, there is a lot wrong with the room that is simply good maintenance. We stayed at Sheraton Vistana Resort for 5 days previous, and there was nothing wrong with the villa at all, the villa was a lot larger than this (but I did know that going in), there were no problems with check-in there, staff people were always asking us how our stay was/any maintenance issues, etc. Disney better step it up in regards to service and maintenance.

DH has decided that he wants to stay at BWV's next visit as he liked that resort better than BCV's. We wanted BCV's this time for Stormalong Bay, but you know that story...... should be opened the day we leave!

Somebody has to get each room, based on location within the resort, they should not waive the fee.

When they were building BCV, I remember I was shocked how close the rooms were to the road, especially considering it is a bus route. Another item in the long line of DVC design flaws in the resorts. At my home resort (BWV) it was having a huge building with one set of elevators.

Agree with charging the fee. We had the studio, bottom floor, all the way at the end, facing the road...someone has to get these rooms. Hopefully only once in a great while...we had asked for top floor facing the pool.

Thanks for the suggestion. I really don't want to be charged for a missing shelf on the refrigerator door, non-working light bulbs, dents in the furniture and missing items. I couldn't even find any sharp knives in the kitchen. The stove's burners are also all not in place.

We did complain about the location when we first got in the room before the luggage arrived. However, there was no other villa available to change us to. We have 2 disabled young adults with us and they will not be able to sleep tonight, which makes for a horrible day tomorrow, I'm afraid. Mk is openn until 3 am tonight, so there will be buses going by all night long.

We are very neat people and the room will be as clean when we leave as when we got here. Change the sheets and towels. Dishes will be all washed and put away. The room they are moving us to is far from being in a perfect location, but it is sure better than this one as far as noise.

LOL! Even though DH's favorite DVC is BWV's, when we go there next, he will complain to me about that long walk all the time! We also went by the construction for the new villas at Grand Floridian ....... right next to the monorail!

That sounds like a terrible experience. I understand how you must feel after going through a similar situation today. How many times do they "forget" to call people about a room being ready? Very unmagical.

I'm always more surprised when I receive the text or call than when we don't. It's not that unusual of problem - at least for us and I doubt we're all that unique.

Good luck with any complaints. When we were there in Dec and brought to the attention of the on duty manager the condition of our room as to lack of cleaning, stains and things broken.

He laughed and said, "You know you are in the DVC section not the deluxe resort don't you"?

We were charged the room change fee at Kidani. We were booked in a Savanna room but our room was behind the pool next to the Savanna. We were in the room maybe 5 minutes and had not touched anything.
