August 17, 2013 - A Fantasy Cruise to Paradise

Hello fellow cruisers!

We just changed our vacation plans for 2013 and have decided to take this cruise as the second leg of a back to back on the Fantasy.

We is my DB Tom and me, Karin, both from Austria and loving DCL! These two cruises will be no 11 and 12 with DCL.

Anyone interested in doing a Fish Extender exchange? So far we have done it every cruise and it is so much fun ..... we're hoping there will be some families that will join in!

We definitely want to do the fish extender exchange! We joined in on it for the first time on our last cruise and I think that's something my kids enjoyed the most. My mother was able to sew one up for us, but I saw people who also place a bag on the hanger - that works too!

It's Official we just booked, Fantasy here we come!!!! It will be me DW(44), DH (44) & DD (madison 8). We have already done the wonder & magic now it's the Fantasy.

I am already working on our FE gifts as we are handing out small personalized gifts on every day of our cruise, so there will be a lot to do!

I know. The big numbers help. I wanted to make a chain to count down, but my daughter suggested that we wait until August 17th of this year, because that would be a seriously long chain.

With the first official cruise for the Fantasy last week, I've been spending way too much time on the boards reading about it. It's still a long way away for us though!

Karin - I've found your Trip Report for your cruise earlier this year. It's very detailed and lots of fun to read. I like all of your photos!

We might try stopping by the Kennedy Space Center this year. They have a program "Lunch with an Astronaut" that looks like fun.

Back to school/work this week after some beautiful weather for our spring break. It's hard getting up early again!

BTW...I was reading one of your trip reviews (the Dream and the one night at the Polynesian) and I love your food pictures. I am surprised by all the things that have mushrooms in them, though! Do you all just like mushrooms, or are there a ton of things with them in it? I am allergic to them (although it isn't life threatening or anything) and in five cruises I've never listed it as an issue and never had a problem. After reading your review, I am second guessing that. Hahaha!

I am looking forward to reading your other reviews. I always start out with the best intentions to do that, but never quite follow through.

Back to school/work this week after some beautiful weather for our spring break. It's hard getting up early again!

I was happy I had the last week off (sometimes it's nice to be a teacher ), so I could check on the Fantasy.
We still have three cruises until we get to go on this back to back journey, but actually I cannot wait to see the Fantasy sail out during our summer vacation this year!

Everything seemed to have mushrooms or truffle oil. Now, if we are being honest, I have no idea if I am actually allergic to truffle oil, I just avoid it by habit. I had a reaction to mushrooms when I was a child, so I have avoided them ever since. It was just funny because when you described the food, it sounded so good then I saw the mushrooms. I will be fine though, as I've never lacked for something to eat on the ship.

Can't wait to read the reports from your upcoming trips. I only have one Disney trip planned before we sail, and that is next February with two girlfriends to run the Princess Half Marathon again. Sadly, my daughter likes to point out that I will have been to Disney twice without her, my son and my husband before we cruise.

When will you be there in February? We have a cruise on February 17 - 21 and will then be at WDW until the end of the week. Maybe we can hook up for a drink.

We will likely be there Feb. 23 - Feb. 26. The race is on the 24th. How many cruises do you have planned before ours?

I guess Feb. 23 is the day we'll fly home, but we are only leaving in the evening.

And we have four more cruises before this one!

We're doing a back to back this summer (a double dip and a 4 nighter on the DREAM), then the 4 night cruise in February and the Aug 17 cruise will be the second leg of our summer back to backs next year.
For someone, who, in 2009 was sure to do only ONE cruise in her lifetime, we were seriously bitten by the cruise bug.
