Hello and :welcome:

This is the start of a magical trip to the most magical place on Earth! Disney World! During this trip report, you will discover everything about our trip; including the Characters, the Cuisine and the Crowds. So let's get started!!

I'm first! can't wait to hear all about it! Especially about your DD's reaction to the surprise! :thumbsup2

Now is the time for you to meet the first of the many characters that you will encounter on this TR. It's time to meet my family!

First up is me. My name is Gina, and I am a 31 year old wife and mother, and I'm also a full time banker. In my spare time (yeah...like there's much of that :lmao:) I like to read, sing, shop, and spend time with my wonderful family!

027.jpg

Uh...I'm the one on the left. :lmao:

Also in that picture is DH, my Prince Charming. He is 32 years old, and is the most wonderful father and husband on the face of the Earth! He enjoys going to Disney World just as much as I do, too, which is totally awesome!!! When he's not at work he likes to play golf, and (as he says) hang out with his girls.

Next up is our little Princess, 6 year old Emma! Emma started kindergarten this year, and is the apple of our eye. Seriously, we would do anything for this little booger:

054.jpg

So, now that we have the intros out of the way, let's get going with the real reason why you're here! On with the fun!!!!

Those of you that read my PTR know that this trip was a surprise trip! Climb aboard my time machine, and I'll give you some backstory.

Our first WDW trip as a family was in March 2011. This trip started out to be a surprise trip, but we failed miserably. And when I say miserably, and mean it was a big FAT epic FAIL! Seriously, people...we booked the trip and caved in and told Emma an hour later. :rotfl2: Needless to say, we had a FABULOUS time on that trip and couldn't wait to plan our return!

Now...back to present time...well...sort of...

On Christmas Day, 2011, we were sitting in the living room taking all of Emma's new Lalaloopsy dolls out of their boxes and watching the Disney Parks Christmas Parade. We started wishing that we had planned a trip back, SOON! Fast forward a little to New Year's Eve, when Disney made their "big announcement". The commercials had us hooked. Immediately, One Republic's song "Good Life" became our mantra. Prince Charming and I started talking seriously about planning a return trip. And on January 2nd, we booked it. 7 days, six nights in a standard view room at Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter resort. We added 7 day park hopper passes and the Disney Dining Plan. Little did we know that this wouldn't be the end of the planning.

We recieved one of those beautiful little elusive PIN codes in the mail shortly after that in February. This PIN changed something for us. Our dining! YEP, we received a Free Dining PIN, and it included the our time frame we had booked for! WHOOPIE!!!!!!!!!! So, we immediately called and applied the PIN. We had already paid our trip in full, and this PIN called for Disney to refund us some moolah, so we did the next logical thing. We upgraded our dining to Deluxe and upgraded our room to a river view! We were so excited!!!! So after several ADR changes, and some very detailed lists on my part to get us organized it was time! It was March 28th, and the next day we were leaving for our happy place!!!

We were flying Southwest, and our flight out was scheduled to leave at 6:05am. So this meant that we had to get up WAY early because we live about an hour away from the airport. Of course, Prince Charming and I didn't sleep much that night because we were so excited. We had our alarm set for 2 am, but actually got up around 1:45 because we just couldn't stand to lay in the bed staring at the ceiling any longer. :lmao: We got up and got ready, then made one of Emma's favorite breakfast foods: Cinnamon Rolls!!! We woke her up around 3 and the surprises began.

Now, this particular day was a Friday, and Miss Emma thought that she had school that day. She new that Spring Break was the next week, but she thought she still had one more day of school left. We fed her breakfast and sat her in the chair in the living room for one of the biggest surprises she's ever had.

I plan on posting the video soon, if I can ever get it to upload correctly. I'm having issues with it giving me error messages. So until then, I'll just tell you how it went.

Prince Charming turned on the One Republic song on the surround sound in the living room, and I started talking.

Me: "Emma? What does this song make you think of?"

Emma: "Disney World!!!"

Me: "Disney World? Does that make you happy?"

Emma: (dancing singing and smiling) "YES!"

Me: "Well, Mommy and Daddy have a surprise for you. You don't have to go to school today."

Emma: (Celebrating because she doesn't have to go to school)

Me: "You're not going to school because we're going to Disney World today."

Emma: Squeals, and starts kicking her legs

Me: (putting her Minnie Mouse ears on her) "Come on, you've gotta get ready. Memom and Poppy will be here to pick us up in just a few minutes. We're getting ready to leave. We'll be there by lunch time."

Emma: (more squeals and kicking)

Me: (I think I was crying) :lmao:

So, after that, Memom and Poppy (Prince Charming's mom and dad) picked us up, and we headed toward the airport for our early flight!!!

The next thing we knew, we were walking through the doors at Nashville International Airport, and were heading toward security!

The security checkpoint was a breeze, and we were off to our gate in no time!

Emma was so excited, and had been chattering ever since we got up, and hadn't stopped yet. She was looking out the window

021.jpg

and said "Mommy! I see our airplane!!!"

021.jpg

She spent some time coloring in her Disney Princess coloring books that we had brought while we waited, because it was still a little while before we would be boarding.

022.jpg

We boarding our plane, and before we knew it, we were landing in Orlando and heading toward the Magical Express! We were one of the first ones on the bus, so we took some pictures while we were waiting.

The whole crew!

We seriously had the best bus driver EVER. He told jokes and talked to everybody while we waited for the video to start. At one point we were all cheering and he even slowed the bus down so we could get this shot!

almost there!

To our surprise, too, Port Orleans French Quarter was the first stop!!! :cool1:

We got all checked in, but our room wasn't ready yet. No big deal though! It was early, and we were heading to Downtown Disney to get an autograph book, pen and some lunch!

So we hopped aboard the Sassagoula Riverboat

035.jpg

did a little shopping here:

036.jpg

and headed to Earl of Sandwich for an Original.

037.jpg

Next stop? The Magic Kingdom!!!

(cont'd in next post)

After a glorious lunch at Earl of Sandwich, we hopped back on the boat to our resort, and caught the next bus to the Magic Kingdom!!!

038.jpg

We headed for the most logical first stop once we got there. We had to go see Mickey and Minnie!!!

042.jpg

We spent a while there just walking around and taking it all in. We were so happy to be there! We were so happy to see the castle, too! I even posted on Facebook about it. LOL. It said "Aint it pretty?"

043.jpg

We rode the Teacups, and Dumbo after that. The lines were SO long. We waited for what seemed like forever. We didn't care though. We were in Disney World!!!

We headed back to our resort, and finally got the text that our room was ready! We headed up to check out our room, rested for a few minutes, then headed out to our first of MANY ADRs.

I'm here, I'm here, I'm here! And you started without me!
:lmao::rotfl2:

Totally digging your first updates! MK doesn't look as crowded as I imagined it to be. I'm anxious to hear more about the crowds, and definitely about your trip in whole! :cloud9:

Your reveal story had me tearing up! :lovestruc I love great surprises! Your first "surprise" sounded exactly like mine! :lmao: I think you held out longer though. I'm not sure I had hung up the phone yet before I was screaming "We're going to WDW!" :rotfl2:

Anxiously waiting for more updates! popcorn::

YAY! So glad you're here!!! :thumbsup2

A little off subject, is the DIS acting quirky for you? For some reason, a post you made in another TR is showing up in the place of this one. The only way I could really read what you had written was by quoting it. :confused3

Weird, huh?

Whew! I made it!!
Cinnamon Rolls are a wonderful way to wake up and find out that you are heading to Disney!!!
I'm loving your TR already .... can't wait to see more!

I agree, Cinnamon Rolls are a great start to the day. Especially when you find out you're heading to Disney!!

I'm glad you are enjoying the report so far. There is a LOT more to come!! Just stay tuned!!! :thumbsup2

HEY!!! I posted on here already. Where did it go? :confused3

This is getting rediculous already :( this is a few posts now of mine that have gone AWOL:mad:
not to mention some things are VERY wrong with the site. Sometimes it says my posts have errors but then shows they worked and when they don't show errors I find they aren't there

I can only post in black!!! and I'm starting to get a bit tired of it. Maybe I shold just take a week off the boards and wait til it's fixed.

ANYWAY, sorry to let out my frustration on your trip report.

I loved the story of the reveal!!!!!! SO CUTE!!! Hope you get the video to work b/c it would be great to see.

Looks like a GREAT start to the vacation too :) I LOVED the anticipation of the DISNEY sign getting closer and closer. I could just feel the excitement building.

So excited to be reading along!
What a beautiful family!!!
Her reaction to your surprise sounded priceless!!!!

Joining in!!! We were at POR from March 23rd-March 30th.

Girl, I completely understand your frustration. It's doing the SAME THING to me!! I could see where you had posted, but when I clicked into my TR there was nothing there! And one of Lidian's posts got jumbled up with a post she made on another TR. The only way I could read what she wrote on mine was to quote her post that was meant for the other TR. WOW...That sounds confusing. Did I make a bit of sense there? :confused3 :rotfl2:

I need to try to work on that video uploading stuff again this weekend. I hope I can get it to work!

So excited to be reading along!

Thank you!! And I am glad you are excited to be here! There's lots more fun to come! I hope to get some posts knocked out this weekend. FINGERS CROSSED!! :rotfl:

When we last left off, we had headed back to the resort for a short rest before our first ADR of the vacation. We were going to our favorite restaurant from our last vacation, Kouzzina!!! We decided to hop a boat to Downtown Disney, then get on a bus to BC/YC/Boardwalk/Swan/Dophin. THIS WAS A MISTAKE. I never knew that the buses from Downtown took so long! And it was driver change time too! Then the bus that said it was going to BC/YC/Boardwalk etc. decided to make a detour. It went to the other side of DD first, which was understandable, but then it headed to the water parks! WHAT???!!!??? We were cutting it close on time by then, and I started to freak out just a bit.

The first resort it stopped at was Swan/Dolphin. We got off the bus there, and decided to hoof it to our destination. We were cutting it REAL close to being late for our ADR, but thanks to Prince Charming's running skills, we got there just in time! :rotfl2: Well, HE got there just in time. LOL. He got there and checked us in, and Emma and I got there not long after.

I was so excited when I saw this:

045.jpg

YIPPEE!!!

We were seated within about 10 minutes, and had a wonderful little booth in the corner. We had a good view of the open kitchen, and were SO ready to get this dinner going!

Our view of the kitchen:

Now for the food!

This was where we had our first taste of Deluxe Dining!!! Appetizers were first.

Prince Charming ordered the calamari

Crisp Calamari and Lemon-Coated in three Flours, with Tomato and Onion Saltsa

047.jpg

The calamari was, in one word, DELICIOUS! It was tender, and flavorful. The lemon gave it just the right taste.

I had the Goat Cheese Sto Fourno - Baked goat cheese, paquillo peppers, kalamata olives, artichoke hearts and Greek olive oil

046.jpg

YUM-O. This stuff was good! I like different food, and different types of cheeses, so this was right up my alley. I totally recommend it! It had an arugula salad with it that was really good too. The best bites had the goat cheese, salad and everything on one of the little toasts they had on the plate.

Emma got the mixed greens salad for her appetizer, but didn't eat it. Sadly, I didn't get a picture of it either. You're not missing much though. It was just a plain mixed greens salad with ranch dressing on it.

Moving on to the entrees!

Prince Charming got the Wood-Grilled Ribeye Steak with Fresh Herb Saltza, Seasonal Vegetables and Kouzzina Potatoes.

049.jpg

It was really good. The steak was very flavorful and tender, and the potatoes were really good too.

I got the Cinnamon-Stewed Chicken with Tomatoes, Over Herbed Orzo Pasta, Topped with Greek Cheese. I had been dreaming of this dish ever since last year. Last year, I ordered the Kouzzina Trio, and the Cinnamon-Stewed Chicken was my favorite out of all three of them. It didn't disappoint this time either. It was DIVINE! Makes me drool just thinking about it.

048.jpg

And what did Emma get? In true kid fashion, she ordered a hot dog. LOL. Her hot dog came with sweet potatoe fries, and as you can see, she was quite happy with it.

051.jpg

Now the desserts were awesome too. I wish I could find my pictures of them, but I think they are on Prince Charming's phone instead of mine. I'll have to get all of his pictures uploaded to photobucket and post them soon.

Prince Charming had the Loukomades - Freshly made Greek Doughnuts with warm Honey and Cinnamon. He loved them and devoured every last one of them.

I ordered the Greek Yogurt Sampler which was also very good. The yogurt was creamy and went so well paired with the spoon sweets that came with the dessert. The honey was especially good. I wish I had some right now!

I'm pretty sure that Emma got a Make-Your-Own Ice Cream Sundae, and those are always good. She loves them!

Prince Charming and I had ordered water for our drinks, so when dessert came around, we used our drink entitlements to get a pressed pot of coffee. OH MY GOSH. That was absolutely the BEST coffee I had ever had. We sat around and talked and enjoyed our coffee for quite some time before we headed out.

I promise I'll get pictures of the desserts up soon! =)

Mmmmm!! the food looks SO GREAT :bitelip: I only have to wait 10 more days to get my hands on some lovely delish Disney food!!! I can do it right??

Just 6 weeks until I can eat some of that deliciousness! So glad that it was so yummy for y'all. And so glad that I didn't miss out on anything with all the DisBoard craziness over the past weekend! :thumbsup2

Joining in! How amazing of you to surprise your daughter like that! She will always remember the day she got to go to WDW instead of school! :cool1: I can't wait to do that with my little prince one day.

We're staying at POFQ this October, so I'm glad to read a TR of someone who stayed there! I am looking forward to the boat that goes to DTD - that is a big draw for my DH, who enjoys DTD. We will probably try Earl of Sandwich this trip. The sandwich looks yummy!

Looking forward to more! :thumbsup2
