So I called the pediatrician to ask if there was anything for kids this young and they said no. Did anyone else's kids get seasick? Any helpful hints?

We go on our first Disney cruise (first cruise ever for the kids) in a few weeks and are SO excited!!!

Both of my DDs get sea sick, and they have ever since they were little like yours. I'm not sure why your pediatrician said there's nothing they can take. Dramamine has a chewable formula with dosing for kids as young as 2. It works like a charm for my kids; I only give them a half-dose to prevent drowsiness and it still works great.

Our grandkids' pediatrician suggested ginger snaps. He said they have enough ginger in them to be therapeutic. Our kids didn't get sick so I can't comment on if it works.

Our pediatrician did tell us what we could give our kids, but neither of them ever got sick at all. They were 7 and 4.5 when we cruised.

You can get SeaBands and Bonine for Kids at Target

I mentioned the Bonine to them but they said it starts at age 6. I can;t say that they seemed really knowledgeable on the subject. The nurse who returns phone calls just asked one dr and they said they didn't know of anything.

Off to check out the dramamine.

So yeah, the dramamine site says:

Directions

To prevent or treat motion sickness, the first dose should be taken 1/2 to 1 hour before starting activity:

children 2 to under 6 years: give 1/2 to 1 chewable tablet every 6-8 hours; do not give more than 3 chewable tablets in 24 hours, or as directed by a doctor.

I will pick up some of that just in case.

My daughter has lived on an island her whole life, so I have a bit of experience with seasickness. She occasionally gets sick on the small boats that are available for transportation.
We use a "magic" apple. The pectin is helpful for calming her tummy and the suggestion of magic is very effective.
On our Alaskan Disney cruise she never once even mentioned feeling seasick.

I bought some non medicated drops that you put behing your ears at Wal Mart right next to the Bonine. We used it "just in case" I never got sick on this cruise like I did on the last one so I give it a thumbs up. It does smell a little funky since it is things like lavender and other oils but kid safe.

Just be warned that the dramamine could make your kid really really sleepy. We've only had to administer it once to our (then 5 yo) and she totally passed out at dinner. If she'd been sitting up I'm sure we would have had a picture of her sleeping in her mickey ketchup.

It's also available on board... JIC.

When we cruised in October, my kiddies were 3 and 4. Neither one of them got sick but we did bring chewable tablets for them just in case. Have a great cruise:thumbsup2

My 5 and 7 yo got seasick for one night out of a 7 night cruise. They drank Ginger Ale for the first time on the ships. It is now one of their favorite drinks.

We cruised in Feb with an 8, 5 and almost 3 year old and we didn't have any seasickness. I did take the CHildren's dramamine with me in case, but we didn't need it. Enjoy your cruise!
