Can you buy an extension for the use of Future Travel Funds on SWA? I have $213 that expire 15 days before I need to use them. Changing my trip dates to earlier is not an option. Is there any way I can still use these?

Also, do I have to use the funds within a year of when I made the reservation or the date of my original departure?

Date of purchase and I am not sure of extension. But I would call and ask, they are very helpful over the phone

Your travel must be completed by the date you purchased your original tickets. Example if you bought the other tickets on Jan 5 of 2012 your trip return date has to be no later than Jan 4 of 2013.

You can extend the expiration date for a fee of $50.

Can I use the funds for anything else besides buying more flights? Example:
Can they be used for buying drinks and snacks on the plane? Purchasing the priority boarding thing? Anything else??

We are flying Southwest in 9 days.:banana: I found cheaper flights so now we have a total of $60 in credit. We are not planning on traveling again within a year. I'm wondering what to do with the $60.

In addition, you cannot extend your credit until it expires and it is now $75 per ticket. Also, remember, credit cannot be transferred. It must be used by the original named ticket holder.

Unfortunately, credits cannot be used to purchase Early Bird Check In. Unless there is some way to get credits as a voucher, I don't believe they can be used to purchase alcoholic drinks on the plane. Snacks are provided at no charge.

unfortunately, you cannot use travel funds for EB:headache:

typically, SWA permits you to purchase the extension after the funds have expired. It used to work this way (and still did when i went thru this in February but always good to call and check as YMMV!):

Note that the fee is per ticket/flight leg, per person. If you booked a RT separately for one person, that'd be times 2 fees to extend both unless you went thru dummy booking/cancellation to have all credits tied to a one way trip. You cannot combine flight credits from other people to book a flight nor can you book travel for others using your credits.

As I understand it, a child fare can be moved to an adult without the fee. I could be wrong but I had heard that from someone who is a TA

SWA changed the rules about transfering of travel funds. It now is NON transferable. The funds can only be used to purchase another ticket for person whose name is on the travel funds. So the ticket in a childs name can only be used by the child.
