If you had to choose between the two, which one would you pick and why? My family and I plan on having dinner in Epcot on our arrival day. We consist of a reservation of 8(6 adults, 2 kids*3yrs and 3 months)

Biergarten. If we went to WDW and did not go to Biergarten my DH and my DD (6) would have an absolute fit. DH loves the food and beer and since she was 3, DD has absolutely loved the German band and getting out on the dance floor while they are playing. I enjoy the place alot too, and the Bavarian cheesecake is one of the things I look forward to at WDW. DD also eats more there than I've seen her eat anywhere else at WDW (she's a picky eater). DD ranks Biergarten a close second to the Princess meal at Cinderella's castle. We also love eating in World Showcase. Also, Garden Grill doesn't really have anything on their kids menu that DD will eat. The characters are fun, but they are characters you can pick up easily in the parks or at other character meals. You can't get a German band and dance floor anywhere but Biergarten!

This is a hard one - I like both very much, but visit them with different intentions:

GG is a great experience with Characters and a traditional American meal.

BG has a chance to try some new foods whild listening to a great German Band.

I leave both feeling stuff - porbably more stuffed from BG though.

The Biergarten hands down. We all enjoy it. There are so many choices and although it's "german" cuisine, nothing is so far out there or heavily seasoned that most adults and kids won't like it. Plus there is the band and the atmosphere and it's an all you can eat buffet, what's not to like? :thumbsup2

Since you have a party of 8 I would choose Biergarten! You will get the whole table for your party and the atmosphere is so festive and fun. We went last year just the 4 of us and got seated with another family of 4. Their children were the same age as ours. We smiled and said hello when we were seated. They didn't acknowledge us. The dad was on his phone the whole time. The mom didn't eat was obviously very unhappy with her husband, and the poor children just sat there looking at us. The dad asked for the check while they were still eating and then they left. The idea of having the parties sit together in Octoberfest tradition is a good one and usually works well but that time it did not. We just went to the dance floor a lot and tried not to let it interfere with our fun but their fighting was uncomfortable for us.

We've never done Garden Grill, but we LOVE Biergarten!!! I really think that it would be a great arrival night dinner. The German band/music and festive atmosphere would certainly put you into vacation mode. :goodvibes

Plus, with 6 adults, you could really enjoy the giant beers!!! :thumbsup2

we LOVE LOVE LOVE the Biergarten! It's becoming a bit of a first night tradition for us. DD loves going out and dancing to the oompah band! :lovestruc

Having eaten at Garden Grill 2009,10,11 and Biergarten in 2011. I am going to have to vote on Biergarten. We are eating at Biergarten again this year. We liked GG up until last year and the menu changed a bit and none of us cared to much for it.

I thought the Biergarten was going to get creamed going up against the GG but I could see how your large group would have a better time at the Biergarten. It's much more festive and the serve yourself buffet lends a party atmosphere to your gathering. The Beer lovers will love the beer, and everyone will enjoy the delicious wines they have. The 3 year old will probably like eating the hot dogs, speztla (buttered noodles) and pretzel bread.

Looks like that 3 month old will have to stick with hitting the bottle though!

Ein Prosit!

My thoughts exactly. They are so different!

I would rather go to the Biergarten over the Garden Grill because the Biergarten gives you and your family a chance to try new foods. There is a great German band, an area to dance and it is really great entertainment for the entire family. The last time I went to the Biergarten (2010) my father got chosen to yodel in a yodeling contest against two other guests and he won! Haha we had a great time and he won an amazing limited edition beer glass for winning the yodeling contest.
