I went to Target today and they didn't have a noise machine, so I just got a fan. Had a heck of a time finding one, b/c most were "new and improved with 25% less noise"! Don't they know we WANT the noise? Found a cheap one, so maybe it will be nice and noisy:lmao:

Four days to go for you!! Nice!!:cool1::woohoo::cheer2::dance3:

If you have an iPhone, you can download Sleep Machine Lite for free. It has tons of background noise sounds and works like a charm. Then you have your sound machine where ever you go!

See--this would never work for me. There is something about artificial sound reproduction that does not make me relax. I do not like the sound machines that have different "sounds" to choose from. I am a fan girl but cannot deal with the "windy free flow of allergens" in my face created by a typical box fan or ceiling fan. Makes me sneeze and get an itchy stuffy nose. That's what I love about my Sleepmate. You get an amplified fan noise without the breeze :thumbsup2

We have the Sleepmate for home and we use the app for the road. If you set the app correctly, it sounds the same as the Sleepmate. I mean... exactly the same. We accidentally left too many Sleepmates plugged in at hotel rooms which is why we went to the app.

Yes, they do have box fans! My DH & DD20 are also fan addicts. You just have to call mousekeeping and have one delivered to your room. I'm sure they have a limited number, like the mircowaves & are first come, but of our three trips so far we have been able to get one every time. :thumbsup2

Thank you so much maiapapaya... :goodvibes As you can you see by my ticker, our next Poly is just around the corner and I will be sure to request one at check in... :thumbsup2

But wouldn't it use up all your battery?? and stop working .....or go into sleep mode once no movement on the phone is detected??? I have a new IPHONE 4S so this might work

I know, I'm almost too excited to sleep!!

Here's another pool question ~ I've read where some ppl say it can get crowded and hard to find a chair at the pool. Can we bring a chair, like one of those camp type ones that fold up in a bag? I doubt we'll need a place to sit (3 young kids so we'll both have to be in the pool with them), but it would be nice to have a dry place for our pool bag.

If they build a 10 story DVC tower or any tower for that matter, I will no longer stay at the Poly. I love the layout they have now. I understand it is an older resort and the buildings need to be redone. Also, by having even more rooms means more folks trying to get on the monorail. The monorail itself is old and not always running like it should.

I agree if Disney did this to the Poly we would stop staying there too. It would take away from the charm that we love so much. It would take away it's character & everything that makes it the Poly. I hope they don't build a huge DVC building. We love the Poly just as it is!

Had my pedicure done today!

Didn't they turn out great? The girl doing my nails asked if I wanted Mickey, and I said sure - I certainly wasn't thinking it would be anything this detailed - but wow, she did a great job. She did it all with acrylic paint and a paint brush!! I asked for something different on the other foot, but in retrospect I should have had Minnie or balloons or something instead of tropical, but the girl was trying to tie in the tropical feel of the Poly into my pedi!! What do you guys think???

Very Cute. I wish my feet were this cute. I have runner's feet. Yuck. Nice legs from all my running, but UGLY feet. I hide them in water shoes.

OK, so possibly a silly question but...on our last stay at the Poly, we did not get to experience a press pot of coffee from Kona Cafe. :sad2: This time...yes I do want some!!::yes:: So, how does it work, do you have to get a table (which is probably next to impossible) or can you get one to go (highly unlikely I would think)? Any info would be great!

too true, blonde moment there! :rotfl: will it keep playing all night once I activate the app?? and with no movement or pushing of the buttons....it will keep working? :goodvibes

Yes, it will play all night. If you use the phone as an alarm clock then the white noise sound will actually mute and the alarm or ring will take over.

I don't know about the press pot - as I did snag one while we were having breakfast at Kona -- but I do know how you feel. All I wanted was a Lapu Lapu.... Then, my daughter got sick and we were confined to the room for three days - two trips to urgent care and one visit from a local pediatrician. Finally, I drug myself to the bar for my Lapu Lapu in a pineapple and they were OUT OF PINEAPPLES. How does this happen??? I seriously volunteered to drive to the grocery store and buy them a pineapple. The next shipment wasn't coming in until the day we left. So, no Lapu Lapu for me

This time, I'm making the CL golf cart driver stop at the bar before he takes me to check in. Just kidding..... maybe...

You can get a press pot of coffee in kona or you can order it through room service. (expensive though) we bring a press with us and use hot water from CC or club level. I don't know about the cvs where you are but if your partial to kona coffee they sell it in our cvs.

They really don't like if you bring chairs to the pool. (trip hazards) but the beach area is okay.

Thanks for the reply ~ I really don't want to bring a chair, so that works out best. We'll just cross our fingers there is at least one chair to put our bag on. I'll bring my bigger waterproof tote just in case I have to just set it on the ground, though.

We have been lucky at Poly and always get a table and chairs to set up camp. We much prefer this to loungers as we aren't "laying out" folks. We like the shade of the umbrella and being able to sit around a table for snacks or a little lunch. I have had bigger issues finding somewhere to sit on the beach while watching the kiddos play in the sand. I have been know to just drag one of our table chairs out there....and I always bring it back to the table! You can also look around and if someone has a table with chairs but isn't using them all, just ask if you can use one.

Have fun!!!:cool2:
