Hey Everyone!

After lurking for a bit, I finally decided to start my own planning journal to pass the time. Both DF and myself are HUGE fans of disney and have a two year old son together who we have *happily* raised to love the mouse :) He has been to Disney 3 times already, his 4th trip will be in August and his 5th trip will be our wedding. Yes, he will have been to disney more times than he is old! We really *love* Disney!

We started planning our wedding back in October, but it was originally here in New York. However, it started to get really expensive and I wasn't exactly thrilled with the plans. So, 5 months after being engaged and having our hall, photography, dj and florist booked we decided to cancel and move our wedding to Disney World! We are now getting married at the WP and the reception will be at Ariels on 2.25.13!

We are both from New York, Long Island to be exact. We have a two year old son together who we are obsessed with! My name is Nicole and I am 24, and my fiance, Dan, just turned 26 this past Monday while we were on vacation in Disney! I've yet to spend my birthday with the mouse but I dropped plenty of hints that I wouldnt mind that :rotfl: This past trip was actually our site visit, which I will post about later!

Our engagement story is very simple and was a complete suprise! Last January we planned a trip to head down to Disney with my parents as they wanted to see our son at Disney. After countdowns, and months of waiting September finally came. We had a great trip all around. The last day of our trip was actually Disneys 40th anniversary so we decided to spend the day at MK incase anything special happened. I wasnt feeling great and was complaining all day, really romantic.. I know! I kept asking DF if we could go back to the room and relax, so he knew that I really must not be doing great. He kept agreeing, and heading that way but we'd never make it down Main Street.. instead we just keep walking past the castle. After about 40 trips past the castle, he finally asked my parents to take "one last picture in front of the castle for the trip" and thats when he got down on one knee. I had no idea it was coming! We had spoken about getting married and getting engaged but I had no idea he was thinking of Disney! The sweetest part was that he had his mom and sister fly down to meet us in Disney for the engagement and to bring down the ring seperately so that there wasnt a chance I would find it when unpacking! After the proposal we went to our dinner at CRT and walked around MK just taking it all in! It was the perfect way to end what was already such a great vacation!

Theres a picture from our engagement! It was so sweet! *October 1, 2011* :lovestruc

I'm going to follow along :) I love being able to follow from the start.

I definitely am right there with you with the NY wedding thing. We looked into it for about 2 months before giving up an saying "why are we paying such premiums to be local when Disney is the same price." haha. There are very few places you can come from where a decision to do Disney would feel like it would improve the budget.

Yay! Another NY'er and my first follower :goodvibes

This Disney wedding is actually SAVING me money! In fact, the wedding alone is $15000 cheaper than the wedding we had planned at home.. even when we factor in hotel/airfare etc, my parents are still $5000 ahead, and get a 10 day vacation out of the wedding (my parents are footing the bill for our wedding thankfully!). Plus, we managed to include a welcome dessert party, a rehearsal dinner at ohanas and a farewell brunch at cape may cafe all for a few thousand less than at home. How could we go wrong!

Welcome :wave2: Cute pic in front of the castle! :lovestruc Congrats on your BIG day :goodvibes Since u are saving money by having a disney wedding I say go for it :cutie: Keep the updates coming popcorn::

Itinerary
Arrive in Disney on Thursday February 21st 2013.

Most guests plan on arriving Saturday the 23rd. That night we are hosting a welcome dessert party in Epcot at the upper terrace in France!

Sunday will be our rehearsal. Hopefully we can have it at the Wedding Pavillion! I would like to use this day to do afternoon tea with the bridal party and any guests who want to join. Im not 100% on this only because Im not sure how full I want to schedule the weekend. We plan on using this night as our rehearsal dinner as well and are *really* hoping for Ohanas! Fingers Crossed! This is by far one of our favoritest restaurants on property so this was a no brainer for us.

Monday will be the wedding! :lovestruc

Tuesday we will be doing a farewell brunch at Cape May Cafe as long as we can get reservations!

Room Block
We choose the Boardwalk Inn, Port Orleans French Quarters and Pop century for our three options. We only did a small amount of rooms as most of my family owns timeshare so a lot of our guests will be offsite. At the moment 6 families have already booked their rooms, including our room at BWI. One other family is DVC and is holding a room but waiting for the school schedule to come out to make sure they can attend.

Guest Count
We are inviting 101 people to the wedding.. which is an improvement from the 191 we were inviting for our NY wedding. At the moment 49 people have confirmed they will definitely be attending.. we are only expecting to reach 60 people at the most. We are hoping to stay at this number as it allows us the ability to keep the extras (dessert party, tea party, farewell brunch).

What We Have Done So Far!

  • Bought my Dress!
  • Picked out the bridesmaid dresses, just need to finalize the colors.
  • Hired Misty Miotto who I love!!!
  • Started the out of town bags
  • Sent out save the dates
  • Set the date for our planning session!

What Id Like To Start This Month
  • Find an Officiant
  • Put down the deposit for the videographer
  • Send Beaute Speciale the deposit and contract to hold my date
  • Use my engagement pictures to order the guestbook

Honeymoon
We were originally going to do the 3 night cruise on the Dream.. however after our last visit DF really wants to stay at the Boardwalk but use the DxDDP and eat at all signature restaurants. We have a 2 year old son so needless to say, it will be awhile before we will have the chance to eat at many of these places! So it is looking like after the wedding we will stay another 6 days, eating our way around the world!

Thats all we've done so far! I finally am feeling like this is real! The site visit really made it official so now im in planning mode!!

Pictures Pictures Pictures!!! You have so many details all sorted out and I want to see it!!

We're honeymooning at Disney after the wedding too. There are so many great places that we haven't had a chance to eat at that DDR's were one of our first things to do too!

Excited to watch the planning :)

Joining in on the fun! Congrats on your engagement, first off! Very exciting. :) And, I own that same red ears headband!! I fell in LOVE with it when I was at Disney in October.

I'm originally from the NY area too (well, Northern New Jersey, but I grew up less than 10 miles from Manhattan!), and when future DF & I were talking wedding plans, we dreamt of Disney, but thought we couldn't afford it. Then we were thinking of having it in NJ, but I realized it wouldn't be much cheaper. Then, somehow, the Disney dream came back, and we are doing all we can to make it affordable. Crazy how sometimes a major city can be MORE expensive!!

I can't wait to read more about your plans!!! :goodvibes

I'll be posting an update after this and it will have pictures!! What places are you eating at? So far DF has requested Bistro De Paris, Le Cellier for dinner (we are obsessed with their lunch!), Flying Fish Cafe, Yachtsmans Steakhouse and hopefully Be Our Guest if its on the DDP! I didnt realize how confusing making ADR's would be for this trip with all the guests coming and going.. Ugh! Talk about a headache :headache:

Love those ears! I buy a new headband every trip and when I saw those I *HAD* to have them. They're my goodluck ears now :goodvibes I completely agree with you on the price of things around big cities. Whenever I watch wedding shows, Bridezilla, My Fair Wedding etc.. when they give the price Im always like "if that was here thatd be 5x more expensive!! so NOT fair!!"

Thank you! You look gorgeous in your signature pictures! They're beautiful!!!

As I mentioned earlier, I have my dress and my bridesmaid dresses picked out. I have 1 moh and 5 bridesmaids. They are all wearing the same dress, except the moh is in a different shade.

This is the dress! Bill Levkoff Style 191.

The bridesmaids will be in regency;

The moh will be in victorian lilac;

Im super excited about this dress! This dress was beyond flattering on each girls body type and they all really loved it. They said it was the typical bridesmaid dress so they were happy!

Now on to my dress!

Its Casablanca #2034! I am in love!!! I originally didnt know what I wanted, and really wasnt thrilled with the idea of a tight dress. I kept telling myself I wanted something princess-y. Well, I tried on a million dresses and hated them all. When I put this one, I got that feeling like, this is it.. I dont want to take this off! It felt like it was made for me. Id post a picture, but I fear DF will find it!

In other news, I managed to check another thing off the list. I officially sent over my deposit for Beaute Speciale for hair/makeup. I also will be doing my trial session on the Saturday before the wedding for the Dessert Party! Now I need to look into officiants!

Yeah, pricing is ridiculous...

Your dress is gorgeous!! And, I love the bridesmaids' pick, as well!! :thumbsup2

Just caught up with your PJ... first of all, love the intro/proposal stories! (too cute!)

The bridesmaid's dresses are gorgeous! And I love your dress.. I looked at some dresses like that (I originally wanted tighter fit and I loved ruffles) but my body shape didn't do them justice - lol

Excited to see a fellow New Yorker's plans! :goodvibes

I love the pics of everything! Your dress is gorgeous! And so are your bridesmaids dresses. They are similar to mine (well, strapless with the jewels in the middle) and my color was victorian lilac too...So pretty! Can't wait to see even more pics!

I find it so funny that you commented on my PJ because I literally just finished reading yours! And, when I saw your bridesmaid dress I thought "Im pretty sure thats victorian lilac!" :rotfl: Too funny!

It's a gorgeous color, if I do say so myself!:rotfl:

Congrats and Welcome!! All of your plans look great!! We invited 136 and thought we'd end up with about 80- we're at 70 with kids and 61 without, most of us coming from CT! It's a very manageable number :)

Yours and you girls dresses are so pretty, love that your MOH will be a different shade! Are you doing some sort of under the sea theme with Ariel's?

popcorn::

Congratulations on your engagement!!

You and I are actually getting married on the same day! How exciting!
Our ceremony will be at 10:00am at the Wedding Pavillion followed by a reception at ADH.

I am loving all of your plans, and am looking forward to following along!
