Hi! Just did my online check in for our Club Level Studio stay at AKV. One of the request options was to request floor 6. Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't all of the DVC rooms located on the 6th floor? I didn't check anything cause I was sure we would get 6th floor anyway cause we booked the studio on points. Should I go back and add that request?

Thanks!

Cyndi

The DVC Club Level rooms are on the 6th floor, all other DVC rooms in Jambo House are on the 5th floor.

Online check in belongs to Disney Resorts, not the DVC, we just use it. The request options don't make much sense for us.

DVC says that they are working on them but since they don't control the software and apparently the changes are global and not just DVC related, I don't expect any changes for awhile.

Sometimes concierge guests are placed on the 5th floor, however, they still have access to the lounge. It happended to me so I know first hand.

^Are you saying they placed DVC members who have used points to reserve concierge on the 5th floor? That should not be possible and should not be allowed. If instead you are saying that they place on the 5th Fl those who reserve concierge through Disney, including possibly those reserving a DVC room for cash, that would be possible and allowed.

It can happen. It happened to us in October we were put on the fifth floor as well as some others checking in ... I was not a happy camper : (

Happened to us too back in Sept.

Happened to us too in September. I was told that they were "overbooked". :confused3
I still had access to the lounge and I was offered either a refund in the difference in the points or I could be compensated $625 (5 nights @ $125). They only offered the compensation after I requested to speak to the manager. I took the cash and didn't mind the 5th floor so much after that :rotfl:.

We had concierge and the 5th floor on one of our stays. Not a problem!:goodvibes

This 5th floor issue is why we will likely never use our AKV points at AKV again since we bought there to have the chance at club level. AKV club level is really the only category where you knew exactly where your room would be located. The concierge amenities are nice but we have also booked it for its physical location - close to the lounge but also centrally located to restaurants, pool access, shops, and buses. It seems that it is no longer a guarantee that you get a 6th floor villa. For some this might be a non-issue, but getting a room in the next to last pod rather than right above the lobby made a big difference for one of our guests. Hopefully it was an isolated incident from last Sept/Oct. Not really sure of real reason it happened as we got a different story from everyone we talked to. Only time will tell if it was just our luck.

If DVC points users are given a room on the 5th floor due to a 6th floor room being taken out of service due to a maintenance issue, then so be it.

If they are overbooking, that's a whole other issue and something fishy is going on.

We will be there next week so we'll see what happens.

A few years ago we booked and received a 6th floor AKV studio. However, when we entered the room there was scaffolding right outside our balcony. We were very unhappy with this view, so we had the option of moving to a savannah view room on fifth floor with access to lounge and concierge amenities. We chose to do that and were actually very happy. Yes, we had a longer walk to the lounge, but we also had a fabulous view of the animals - much better than we would have had on the sixth floor. I suppose it depends on what is most important to you. We felt as though we had the best of both worlds!

We have stayed at AKV club level before and were on the 6th floor and just loved it. I heard that it was a possibility of receiving the 5th floor and I will be highly upset if this happens this visit. We booked the whole week April 13-21 at the 11 mth window. I will be very loud at check in if we are on the 5th floor.

Bill maybe we will run into each other!!

I am pretty sure that if you book a AKL Club level villa, the standard practice is to be put on the 6th floor of the main lodge. I think it would take an exception such as a 6th floor room being out of service or something like the previous poster mentioned about the scaffold before you would be moved to the fifth floor. We just stayed in a one bedroom club level on the sixth floor (sunset savannah side) and had great views of the animals. At one point there were four giraffes having breakfast right below our verandah. The lounge was very convienent as well. If you haven't booked the sunrise safari, do it. It is a fantastic experience. The sunset safari was also well worth the money.

My thoughts too. I guess we will find out tonight when we check in. We have done the sunrise safari before and are going to do the sunset safari on Sunday. Happy to hear you thought it was worth the money cause we had been going back and forth about cancelling it. Thanks for your response!

I hope you get the 6th floor! We believe it was over booked when we were there in October it was our 25th anniversary I can't tell you how disappointed when we they had to move us : ( my husband got the floor manager and complained.. We were compensated with points $$ for dinner for the day we lost trying to figure rooms out and park passes also .. Was pleased with how it was handled not sure if I would try to book club level again
