September 2012

becpee congrats on a great start with your ADR's.

How late is late? We've also booked T-Rex for that Friday but at 6pm.

9:30 if I remember correctly, but we'll have an afternoon rest that day and see how we go.
The dinosaurs should keep him entertained :rolleyes1

Now i'm a bit like "so what now?"

I know I have accom to book but i'm still a bit far out so i'll wait a bit.

Had a sore back/shoulder/neck forever so have booked an appointment with an osteopath tomorrow, and also seem to have come down with the flu, so not sure if i'm hurting more because of the flu or because my injury is somehow worse.
Hoping I wake up tomorrow and feel a bit better so then I can concentrate on fun holiday planning and not passing out on the couch chopping down trees (apparently thats what I sound like when I snore )

When it's all booked, really then what? Just wait for it? LOL

becpee yep you just count down and read as much information as you possible can. I always feel a bit down when all the bookings are over :confused3
Hope you feel better soon

Feeling alot better after my visit to the osteo, why oh why didn't I do it earlier??

I can even twist my head around without having to turn my hips (yep thats how bad it was), off to visit her again Tuesday :thumbsup2
DH said "imagine the pain after getting off a plane after 15 hours if you hadn't been fixed" (well, i'm not fixed but i'm on the way).

Thinking I may start a PTR with our plans, I have vague ideas of where we'll be staying, and I haven't even yet taken into account we'll be visiting LA for a few days at the end.
MASSIVE!

Also trying to think of a great way to tell DS, i'm thinking we'll let him in on the secret about 2 weeks before, or he'll drive us insane in the long leadup :lmao:

 You dont want to imagine the pain after 15 hours of flying it is horrendous in 2010 i flew whilst still recovering form a slipped disc  I am sure it is why i had jetlag so bad. Glad to know that you are on your road to recovery.

I know what you mean i have about 13 days that i have no real idea :confused3about what we are doing except that we need to fit in Mount Rushmore and Yellowstone National Park i guess i better get serious about looking into what to doing with that time :rotfl2:
I am seriously thinking about winging it but i think DH will have a coronary if i do that:lmao:

I hope DS doesn't find out before you want him to know but i must say our kids are so excited about having a countdown again i am glad they now know:)

hi We are travelling To WDW on September 18th and staying till 10 October. We are Booked in to Fort Wilderness till October the 3rd.Still deciding wether to shift to another disney resort or to a hotel near Universal. Then do the non Disney parks the last week.We are still deciding on meals as we have the free disney dinning plan for the stay at Fort Wilderness. We have booked Cinderellas Royal Table after my DD8 goes to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. Also Dragging DS18 and DS15 along for that one.Though they both enjoyed the day we went to Ariels Grotto in Disneyland(back in 2008).We did go to WDW in 1999 but will be first time for DD and DS15 was only 2 and adorable then.that will make 5 of us travelling with DW and Myself.I rarely sign in but do stop by this forum just get the latest Disney news.We only decided to go this september a couple of weeks ago as I wanted to go to the Yucatan peninsular with just DW but she kept suggesting we call into or just go to Disneyworld instead.I could not go to WDW with out the kids.I Am sure DW knew this and was probably the plan all along. We got what we believe is a good price for the airfares at $7800 for all 5 flying Delta, Sydney/LA is codeshare on Vaus then Delta for the rest of the trip.We looked at many online sites for the flights then tried Flightcentre and they came 2500 cheaper then any we could find online.Qantas were even more expensive,Mainly because it is school holiday period. So may have some questions to post as we continue to plan. The kids know and are busy making plans with a list of have to rides.

party:100 sleeps to go :dancer:

Where has that time gone.

abuzzfanfromaustral Sounds like you have a great trip planned:)

Well I'm back from Thailand and now it's just a matter of counting down to September So.Cal adventure. We've booked everything except how we get from Anaheim to the the Disney Wonder. Thinking of splurging on a limo or a Hummer for the kids. Anyone done this before?

I had a nice time solo in Thailand despite doing damage to the L4/L5 joints in my spine and being flat on my back for the week prior to the 10.5 hour flight to Singapore. Unfortunately the damage is permanent and I'm not aloud to road run again and trail running is currently not a goer either. The GP gave me three different medications and I managed the flight but I never want to see the guy I had the misfortune to sit next to in Jetstars 'Business Class'. It took half an hour in the shower in Phuket to feel unsullied again.

Hi abuzzfanfromaustral, $7800 is a great price for the 5 of you! I have been trolling online for months and the cheapest I could find was about $2K a piece for the 5 of us. I haven't got a quote so far under $10K. Did you just go into Flightcentre and ask what is their best price? Did you have a schedule in mind or did you take the cheapest they had on offer. Because we have 2 kids with us I am hesitant to take a poor schedule just to save a few dollars. I am wondering if this is as cheap as it's going to get because for the last 2 years the prices have already fallen at this time for the Sept holidays. They seem to be holding out on us this year. Sorry for all the questions, but this airfare booking thing is doing my head in!!! Last week I was almost willing to throw $10K at it to make it go away and give me back my time that I am spending on the net chasing fares. We will be in Orlando 19 Sept - 11 Oct so pretty much the same time as you (that's of course if I'm not in an asylum by then!!) Cheers!:surfweb:

:eek:Seriously i need someone to pick me up off the floor:scared1:
Dh wants to spend our 8 nights at DL at one of the Disney hotels i am thinking we will do 4 but i just priced it out for our dates and i am :scared1:
$6364 for 8 nights in August room only :confused3 Its only costing us $100 more for our 7 night DCL crusie to Alaska
:rolleyes1 I think i am going to have to learn to love WDW:rotfl:

oh do tell...thats a story we'd like to hear...being sullied :rotfl2:no seriously, do tell....

The guy sat down stinking of old booze and proceeded to top himself up to max the entire way. At some point, not taking the hint that I had my nose buried in a book and me telling him I was happily married with kids he decided to get Mr Smelly out (it was a 10.5 hour flight, draw your on conclusions why I'm using that moniker) and ask if I was impressed. Oddly the answer 'no, I have three at home and I've spent the last few years wiping the poop off two of them' didn't dampen his ardour. :sad2: How Mr Smelly was quite so upstanding with that much alcohol in the system is beyond me. At one point I considered dropping my codiene, diazapam and diclofenac in his beer but then I didn't want to be responsible for him if he was allergic or something. In the end I asked the hosties to stop serving him as it was easier to try and explain what he was doing. I ended up having to shake him off by ducking out the second exit of one of the loos in Singapore exit - I love Singapore airport for so many reasons and never thought that would be one of them.

Hubby wasn't impressed when I told him on the email but then rationally said 'well I guess you still got it hon'. Still mulling over the ways I can interpret that statement....

So there you go. Roll on California where I'll be travelling with my three blokes.

We will be heading to Disneyland on our first trip for the Qld school holidays. Still in the planning stages and waiting on my Dad to decide whether he will be joining myself, DD6 and Mum. DD will have her 7th birthday at Disneyland.

We also plan on doing a week on the Disney Wonder. The plan is a week on the Wonder and a week at Disneyland if it is just the 3 of us. If Dad joins us we will go for 3 weeks and hire a car and go to Las Vegas as well.

We did the Wonder to the MR in December 2011 and it was great. We upgraded to a balcony room at port for an extra $450 and slept with the door open to the balcony most nights (from Nth Qld so we missed the sea air). We did the Historic Towns and Tequila Making tour in PV (I don't drink, the kids can't and hubby had a great time for us :rotfl2:) and the ATV beach ride in Cabo. Loved Cabo better than PV but felt very uncomfortable being followed along the street at the port by sellers.

We stayed at Harrah's in Vegas. It was okay but rather noisy at night on our floor with a group of people who came and went for mini-parties in their rooms all night. Not really a town for small kids, especially at night with the people handing out the girly cards - especially to hubby when he's holding the kids' hands! Beware of sellers everywhere offering you 'cheap' tickets to shows - the catch is that you have to sit through a couple of hours of time-share spiels. Hard sell, too. BTW, we did end up buying into Wyndham. There is a lot of in-your-face homelessness and begging in the streets in Vegas. My kids were upset by this especially those who used cute little animals as part of their tactics to get you to give them money. But we saw a great "Allan" from the Hangover who was so convincing hubby did a double-take. You can't just cross the street in Vegas, either. You are directed via casinos and overpasses and can easily get trapped inside a casino! Do go to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. It is great for food, drink (It's 5 o'clock somewhere drink is head-spinning at $18 a glass but you get to keep the glass, cheaper if you get a regular glass). Keep your eyes peeled above the bar at the front when they play their theme song on the hour. We stayed for 2 plays. The kids loved it more than the PBR restaurant at MGM.

Enjoy your trip. We can't wait to go back.

your a patient woman....if it was me I would have ordered a coffee and proceeded to put it in his lap..followed by an elbow to the head...

I would twitter Jetstar and tell them, you shouldn't have to put up with this, and the hosties need to be booted up the caboose for being so non-proactive.

and your DH is a sweetie.....take it for the backhanded compliment it was intended to be...

so twitter jetstar NOW!!!!!

Hi, Mama loves planning ,I was searching all the internet sites and 10k was the cheapest (united) .I tried the flightcentre site and a message popped up saying ring for Quote so rang and got connected to a nearby flightcentre(not our nearest)The young lady was very helpful tried various different Airlines but Delta was cheapest. The flight is not direct from Los Angeles with stop in Atlanta arrives 22:23 in Orlando on 19th September. When trying for tickets online was having trouble getting there on the 19th so if all goes well i hope to be in room by 1 in the morning. We went in and paid and with all taxes and fees etc total was $7938.The TA at flightcentre said she could only hold tickets for 2 days at that price so i dont know if it was end of a sale or it is just how long they can hold a booking open.Good Luck with Tickets hope you can find a cheap fare..Also the travel dates are when we planned on going so didnt have to adjust any plans..

Well i finally have all the TS ADR done. This our first time travelling with DDP and normally book a few character meals and just wing it for most days.As i am away from home it took a while to get the kids(well DS1 is 18 but he is still a kid to me.)to give me some idea of which character dinning they were interested in.So i have the following booked.
The Crystal Palace on 20th September
Cinderella's Royal table (after BBB for DD) on 21st September
Hoop De Doo Revue on 22nd September
Sci Fi Diner for Lunch 24th September
Tusker House for Dinnner (no characters) 25th
Coral Reef Restaurant 27th september
Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic package (very early Dinner)28th September
will just make it a late lunch.
1900 park Fare (Cinderella's Happily ever after Dinner)29th September
Chef Mickey for breakfast 30th September
Garden Grill Restaurant 1st October( This was the first character meal
we ever had back in 1999) also 30 th Anniversary of Epcot
T-REX a prehistoric family adventure 2nd October
Rainforest Cafe @ animal Kingdom 3rd October
Kids loved Rainforest Cafe in San Francisco and DL so wanted to go to another.
This has been quite hard trying to get Restaurants having not planned on having a dinning plan i was not prepared to launch in on day 180 plus 10 i got the best times that were available and will try to get later times if any open up but happy with dates. We are still finalizing plans for last week and we looking at moving from Disney and doing seaworld and universal as well as kennedy Space centre.DW has told some of her friends how hard it was to find bookings for restaurants and they can not believe that some have only limited times left 160 plus days out.. thank goodness we dont have to book CS and we can just stop when hungry...PS DW and DD are doing (not on DDP) My Disney Girls perfectly princess tea party ( i think they like Disney Princesses) it is quite expensive but as DW says we travelling all that way it would be a shame to miss it..

hey...
after dining resi hell I have finally done it all.....

garden grill 15 sept DDP
liberty tree 16 sept DDP
san angel 19 sept OOP
tusker house 20 sept OOP
50's prime time 30 sept DDP
le cellier 1 oct DDP
coral reef 2 oct DDP

PLUS...wing it
kona for breakfast
t-rex DTD for lunch
sci fi dessert

getting 2 lots of DDP, as i have 3 resort resi's....so 2 & 3 day DDP, and the other 7 days OOP....as we dont eat a full sit down meal every day, and waste our TS......as we have a kitchenette at BLT DVC during those 7 days..
saves a fortune in breakfast and lunches....that's another reason why we love DVC

all i have to do now is buy MNSSHP tickets and annual passes...and we are good to go:cheer2:

5 months today til we fly out.....152 days:rolleyes1

:cheer2: Finally feels like we are making progress:cheer2:

I gave the kids the final vote over where we stayed between Best Western Park place, Del sol inn and Desert inn and suites, Park vue is not available for our dates they picked del sol inn because of the bunks and no sofa bed which is what i thought they would do.
We have left 2 nights to hopefully stay at the DL hotel but I am not going to make that decision until everything else is paid.

I have also booked 5 nights in Seattle
1 night in Sioux Falls
1 night Mount Rushmore
1 night Cody before we go to Mount Rushmore

I also changed our Southwest flights to LAX -Seattle that was an amazingly easy process no fees :yay: unlike my non refundable AA flights that will cost me $150 per person to change:scared1:

AustralianKaren - I don't twitter, I'm a FB addict but that's about it. I'll ring the 0800 line and have a chat about it.

Hey I see you are getting onboard your cruise the same day as we board the Wonder. Which port are you embarking at?
