hi disney friends!
I need some opinions. For 3 adults looking to do 1 TS meal a day for 9 days, would you recommend DDP or TIW? thank you!!

It largely depends on what places you're planning to eat at - the DDP works the best if you are someone who likes to eat an entree and dessert and if you're planning to go to some of the more expensive places. For example, for my family, using a credit at Liberty Tree isn't really practical when compared to using it at Le Cellier.

The rough rule of thumb I used was, allot about $12 for a QS meal (QS were actually about $15 this last trip, but I estimate conservatively). Then there is the snack (but I didn't really factor those in). So your TS meal would need to be about $33 (entree, drink plus dessert and tax) per person to make the DDP worth it.

I think I've read that you need to eat about $500 (non-AP) or about $375 (AP price) or so to make up the cost of the TIW card (about $20 per person per day). I think that's pretty easy on a nine day trip.

In the end it comes down: can you eat about $1200 in food in 9-days. If you think yes, then the DDP is a good way to do. If not, then think about the TIW card.

On a side note, I like the DDP because then I don't have to think about how much an entree costs. Everything is equal at that point.

I also am considering the Tables in Wonderland card versus the dining plan and I too have a question. Do you need to get a Tables In Wonderland card for each person dining or is one enough for my family of 5?

Also does the Tables in Wonderland card have any black out dates?

One TiW card is good for up to 10 people. I believe just a few holidays the card is not good - Mothers Day, Easter Sunday, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day.

We're a TiW family most of the time. We often like appetizers, either in addition to or as the main course. You generally can't do that on the DDP, unless you only eat at a select few restaurants with limited prix fixe menus or get the DxDDP. We also aren't big into desserts immediately after our meal. So in general TiW works best for us. Don't forget that TiW is also good at some counter service restaurants - the main ones in AK (Flame Tree, Pizzafari, Restaurantosaurus...), the value resort food courts, and Sassagoula Floatworks at POFQ. The 20% savings at each really does adds up!

I really think we are going to have to do a mock up of restaurants and items ordered and compare it to the Dining Plan price. I think the other advantage for us would be that we would not have to stay on property, we could just use our Annual Pass/ TIW card.

You can only purchase the TiW Card in you are either a DVC owner,Florida Resident, or hold Annual Passes, or the FL resident Season Pass correct?

So I can not forego the DDP and opt for this if I am just purchasing a 10 night MYWwPHP package...???

Correct. The only way for you to do this would be to upgrade one of your 10-day MYW tickets to an AP and then purchase the TiW card.
