Magical Express- time question

I'm arriving on Aug. 14th @ mco (orlando airport) at 4:35pm. About how long does it usually take to get from the airport to Disneys All Star Movies Resort via Disneys Magical Express. The reason i'm asking is because I want to go ahead and make dinner reservations for that night at Epcot at 8:50pm at The Coral Reef.

Rule of thumb: 90-180 minutes from the time you exit your plane.

Don't forget to factor in flight delays, any check-in delays, any delays in getting from your resort via a bus, all the way through security and the gates to the restaurant.

More in the 70 to 90 minute range. Three hours is extremely extreme and unusual. Much more Magical Express info on the Transportation board.

About 90 minutes is a decent plan to get off the plane, on the bus and to the resort.

You have 4+ hours of cushion, so you should be plenty fine. Even 8:30 is penty generous.

In 2008 the plane touched down right at our posted arrival time, by the time the plane "taxied" to the terminal (which seaned longer than the flight ), we waited in line at the Magic Express area then arrived at our resort it was well over 2 hours (120 minutes +). On all other occasions it was about 90 minutes or so.

Time before you step out the airplane door and time spent in the rest room or at the food court or at the baggage carousels does not count towards the 90 minutes.

I've used DME more times than I can count. I have had times as short as 55 mins and one time as long as 90 mins. Most ran in the 75 min range. This time is from gate to resort...and I do stop in the ladies room along the way!
So...if your flight arrives, ontime, at 4:35pm, you can expect to arrive at your resort by 6:15pm. Yes, that's almost 2 hrs, but I included time taxiing in there. You should be at the gate by 4:50...so start counting there...it's 90 mins from 4:50.
Then, you will want to get checked in, and freshened up. Your bags won't arrive until around 9-10ish. So take anything you will need for dinner with you in your carryon bags.
You should be ready to head out to dinner by about 7:30ish. I would say an ADR at Coral Reef at 8:50 is very doable.

I agree with everyone else that you'll be fine time-wise.

But I wouldn't want to use a park ticket for such a late arrival in the parks Especially not for dinner. If I really wanted to go into the parks I'd just eat CS to have more park time. Or the more likely scenario is I'd eat at one of the resort restaurants. Which will likely be better than Coral Reef anyway.

it's possible the OP has an annual pass - I have one and wouldn't hesitate to enter Epcot that late just to eat (I might hesitate to eat at Coral Reef though)

However, it is a good heads up if the OP does not have an annual - they'd be using a full park admission just to eat dinner at Epcot. There are sometimes questions from those who are not aware that you must have valid park admission to go to the restaurants inside the parks, even if all you want to do is go to the restaurant and the park will be closed after that.

But if the OP has 4 day+ ticket its only $8 per person. The only issue is if they plan to go to the parks 10 days and they didn't factor that first day into their plans.

$8 per person is a great deal for a day at a park, but not such a great deal to walk into a restaurant when there are restaurants everywhere. But of course it's up to the OP how they want to spend their park day if that's the case. Would also be better than the day expiring if it's not going to be used otherwise.

Every one puts their own value on things.

Thats why avoid "Is X worth it?" threads. I would be like OK can see your tax returns to determine how much this effects your overall budget for the tear. If you catch my drift.

If the OP doesn't mind using a day's park entrance at Epcot for a few hours, so be it. While it's nice to give some insights into the usage of park passes, this isn't the place for it. We're getting way off topic here.

Ok, now I have to ask...whats so bad about Coral Reef? We have 10 day dining and PH so entering the park isn't an issue.

Probably should ask this in the restaurant section though you are probably going to get opinions all over the place.

Nothing. I've eaten there multiple times and had varying experiences. It isn't going to be 'fine dining', and it isn't the place for a nice quiet, relaxed meal. Tons of screaming kids, some of them running around.
Now, having said that, I have always had good food there. I just dislike the craziness of it all...especially at free dining times.
