How do you find out which rooms have the secret "stuff"? We booked an inside stateroom but I'd really Really like to at least have a porthole if it's not too much more!!! I'm sure the secret verandah is more than my Dh is wanting to spend but if there's a window available that's a possibility!

The "secret porthole" rooms are 5020, 5520, 5022, 5024, 5522 and 5524. The "secret verandah" rooms are 6134, 6634, 7120 and 7620. Hope this helps!

We did the FE on the other Disney cruise we did and really enjoyed it! I would def be interested if it was a small group...or a large broken up!

It would definitely need to be a small group for me too, for the sake of my budget! :upsidedow

You find out on the DIS of course! There are 4 verandah rooms which are not really "secret". They are sold as cat 7As, Navigator Verandahs. The true Navigators are enclosed with a large round opening on the Magic and an oval opening on the Wonder. The "secret" is there are 4 that are true verandahs but they have an obstruction. They are numbers 6134, 6634, 7120 and 7620. They are a really good deal because you are essentially getting a Cat 5 for a Cat 7 price.

The "secret" porthole rooms are more of a secret. They are sold as inside rooms but they have a porthole with a obstructed view. Not sure what Cat they are, 10 something.

You beat me to it!! :goodvibes What Cat are the secret porthole rooms?

My plan for FEs is to wait until about 6-8 weeks before we sail and I will look at the group. If we have a lot of people we will break it up in to smaller groups. If anyone wants to be in all the groups they can be if they are willing to bring enough gifts for everyone. I posted the link to the spreadsheet here and on FB. Anyone who wants to participate just plug in your info. I will also make out deck plans with all the rooms of participants highlighted and get them out just before we cruise.

I think it's 10A?

Got our info added! Thanks again for setting up the spreadsheet! :)

Thank you!! I've written our TA and asked what the price difference would be. Would be sooo nice to at least have a window. We cruised on Carnival a couple years ago also, and had a balcony...that was amazing. But I think that'll be too expensive on Disney no matter what!! Lol

Oh good!! Glad I'm not the only one! I don't think I'd have the time to do a ton, either. I should start thinking about what to put together now!! I cannot remember at all what I did the last time!

Lol, too true!! Oooh, I've heard people talking about them for years but never really paid any attention! Very cool!!!

Sounds good to me! I'll sign up, then! Thanks for undertaking that!!

I am more than happy to start a running roll call list in the first post. How about.. Names, ages, stateroom (or just category/deck), dining seating, special occasions. As much or as little info as you feel comfortable with.

We are John (37 - he'll be 38 at sailing), Alexis (me, 32 - 33 at sailing), and Sebastian who will turn one on the day we sail!! We'll also be celebrating our 8th wedding anniversary on the 9th, the day we return! We've asked for 1st seating at dinner. Hopefully since it's this far out, we'll get it. Since Sebastian will just be 1...I doubt he'll be a happy camper if we have to wait until 2nd seating...obviously I'll feed him when he's hungry, but you know what I mean. I'm hoping we can see some of the matinee shows so that after dinner we can either walk around (with him hopefully asleep in a carrier) or just head back to the cabin! But of course...I really don't know much about 1 year olds. I'm just trying to figure out a one month old!!!

Is there already a waitlist for 1st seating, this early out?? That's nuts... Hope you get it!

Where'd everyone else go?? It sure got quiet here... I might have to start talking to myself, lol. :rolleyes1

Thanks! Can you put that Sebastian's birthday is the 1st? Not that it really matters, lol. Our anniversary Is the 9th, but his b'day is the 1st!

Ummm...I don't think so. I mean, on my reservation is says that I've requested Main seating so I'm assuming that's what I have/will get...but you never know!!

I think you should be good with main seating. I know I could switch to main right now if I wanted. Your TA would have told you if it were wait-listed.

I hope we get some more people here soon! I really want the Galveston cruises to do well so Disney will come back to Texas in 2014!

Good deal!

Ohhh I assumed they were there for good!!

We are:

It will be the kids' first cruise and our first with DCL. Our Disney fix is long overdue and we can't wait!

You are going to love the Magic!!!! Quick clarification, though.. Your sig says you sail 3/1, but we're all sailing 2/1... Would hate for you to miss the ship by a month. :thumbsup2

And sorry, all, that I've been so absent from here -- work has just been going gangbusters and keeping me stupid busy. But busy is good, right? Makes the time go faster. :)

I keep trying to think about the suggestion for a name for our group... We'll be sailing during the Superbowl, so there's that, and Groundhog Day, and right before Mardi Gras. Any ideas with that stuff??

I just can't wait for the Magic to actually get here... DS & I decided we wanted The Spot for dinner Friday night and wanted to go get some candy at La King's, so we hopped over to the island. When we were down on The Strand we decided to walk over to where we always watch the ships leave from, since we were right there, and we tried to imagine the Magic being right there. Right THERE!! We were practically dancing around. :cloud9:

I'm still trying to figure out when the Magic is actually going to get there... There's like a two week gap in between New York and Galveston, and DCL can't tell me anything. I would just love to be there to see her come in for the first time!! Hopefully as September gets closer there will be more info.

Have you all seen the thread on the main board with the ringtone downloads? So excited -- my text notification is now the 7-note chime they play onboard right before they make an announcement. Puts a huge smile on my face every time I get a text. :goodvibes

Thanks for catching that Gina! I think the "2013" is really throwing me off and I keep thinking March. Definitely February so one less month to wait! :yay:

I'm jealous that you got down to the dock and I bet you're going to get yourself down there again when she arrives! My mom had a business on Post Office Street for a long time (pre-Hurricane Ike) and my daughter used to love to watch the cruise ships coming and going. It was so exciting when cruises FINALLY came to Galveston and there was talk and talk and talk that DCL would as well. After patiently waiting for years and years, I'm so glad we held out and can take our first cruise out of Galveston on the MAGIC! Fingers crossed that they will return and sail from Texas again.

Thanks for coordinating this group!

I'm jealous that your mom had a business there and got to be there all the time!! If you're familiar with it at all, we live directly on the Pearland/Friendswood line, right by FM 2351. Straight shot of about a mile to 45-S, and then we're only about 20-something minutes from the island with traffic. We're there a lot... In fact, during the jaunt this past weekend, my son & I were talking about how we just feel better once we're over the causeway -- it's just a happy sigh that comes out by reflex. I love that island! So much history and so many interesting things to do, and so much beauty. I would live there if I could! :cloud9:

Anyways, if anyone else wants to come down for a mini-meet either when the ship comes into to Galveston or to watch her sail away for the first time (or both!) just let me know! That would be great fun to meet some of you ahead of next February!

Did I tell y'all that I'm surprising my son with a trip to Disneyland in October?? With all the trips we've taken to WDW, he has never been to DLR and I've only been once when I was 5. My only brother lives in SoCal and has been trying for 10 years to get me out there to see "where it all began", but airfare has always been so crazy high from Houston to California for some reason. Plus, no Epcot!! :rolleyes1

But all the planets aligned, and I got a really good price on an airfare/hotel package, and we're just going for a long weekend in early October. Neither my son nor my brother knows. When I say the planets aligned, I'm serious about how many factors had to fall into place for this surprise to work!! My son is in marching band and our lives completely revolve around that. It's just the nature of the beast. So between football games and competitions, weekends between oh, August and at least December are ridiculously busy. But that one lone weekend, the game is on Thursday night instead of Friday, so he wouldn't miss a game which would cause his band director's head to explode. And it's an away game! That means that I don't *have* to go, and that he'll be going straight from school to the game, and I'll be able to fly home from work and take our dog to the kennel and quickly pack all our stuff.

When I pick him up after the game that night, I'm going to give him a Disneyland t-shirt I ordered the other day when everything was 25% off. I'm just going to tell him that I thought it would be cool for him to wear when we go to Disneyland. To surprise his Uncle Scotty. In about 8 hours. :hyper:

I *never* get to surprise him with anything, so I am way excited about this!! And about getting to go to DLR. If any of you have been, I'd love to hear tips or suggestions!!

Sorry this got so long... I think I ramble too much when I haven't had enough coffee, lol. But enough about me -- I'm looking forward to getting to know you guys over the next 10 months! Please feel free to share whatever you feel like sharing. :goodvibes

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I may join you depending when it is. I would LOVE to meet the Magic as she arrived in Texas!

You guys are going to love DL! I grew up in SoCal and have been many times. The last time I was there was 2008 and I know a lot has changed but it is a great park and a long weekend it the perfect amount of time for it IMO. Just don't try to compare it to WDW otherwise you will be disappointed.

Ok my quick recommendations.
If you like FantasyLand rides at WDW do not miss The Alice in Wonderland ride. It is one of my faves at DL.
They still have Mr. Toads Wild Ride there.
If you like Fantasmic! at WDW DO NOT miss it at DL. I think now they have some FP, pre-arranged seating thing going on. It is 100% times better at DL IMO.
You can still ride in the front of the Monorail there and they have Mark VII Monorails. They are beautiful! And unlike at WDW they are more of an attraction than used for actual transportation. You get great views of both parks while riding.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was transformed in to Nemo Submarines! (It's almost the exact same thing as the Nemo ride in Epcot, but way better because your in a submarine!)
Indian Jones Ride is a LOT of fun. It uses the same cars and track as Dinosaur at AK.
Toon Town is way better than what was at MK.
There is a Walkthrough in Sleeping Beauty's Castle.

DCA is similar to HS in many ways.
Cars Land will be open when you go.
DCA has changed the most since I was last there but I remember really enjoying it.

Thanks so much for the info, Amanda!! I can't WAIT to ride Mr. Toad's Wild Ride again... I have the song stuck in my head just thinking about it. I've heard the Alice in Wonderland ride is really cool, and I am sooooo jazzed to ride Space Mountain at DLR!!! It's my son's fave ride at WDW, but it's way too jerky for me. I've heard the version at DLR is 1000 times better.
Fantasmic is okay, but I'm never usually much for shows anyway because of the crowd factor. But I keep hearing World of Color is a do-not-miss. What do you think?

On the topic of our cruise, let's talk Dis Meet! We usually have two meets -- one right after muster for sailaway, up above the pool deck out of the crushing crowd, and one late morning the next day at the Promenade Lounge. A lot of times people have their own plans for sailaway, understandably, so more make it to the second meet.

Would anyone be interested in a bar hop/poker run? I've only done those on RCI, but can't imagine why it couldn't be adapted for the Magic. There are more bars on the RCI ships, but there are enough on the Magic that it would still work and be fun, I think! Maybe? I dunno, lol. What do y'all think??

The barhop sound fun!
I sure I could talk my mom and sister to join in a barhop...maybe not the same day they are doing the wine/bar tastings :lmao:
