Military Discount Tickets

makes me want to forget about getting passes then so we can at least buy 2 for her...so basically we can buy 6 to activate at one time as long as DH is there to show his ID and uses one of them, it won't be a problem if 2 of them will be used my my sister and one of her kids,correct?

Right. 6 can be activated or purchased at one time but one must be used by the service member. Doesn't matter who else uses the other 5.

My dad is getting 6 of the salute tickets for our trip in Sept. There are 7 of us, but after he gets those 6, he can buy 1 child regular military ticket (4 day hopper) for $275, right? That is allowed?

Also, last time he bought these, he just did it at the gate. Now, that I'm going and am more of a planner, I'd like him to get them sooner and then activate them when we get down there. 2 questions about this. If we get in Sunday night, he can activiate them at the gate that night, so as not to mess with it at Epcot RD on Monday morning, right? Also, everyone says you can get them at local MWR/ITT...what is that? Is that like the closest miltary base?

Yes, he can buy the regular MYW child's ticket, I think the discount is just no tax. The only limit is on the actual Armed Forces Salute tickets.

We activated ours the night before so as not to have to stand in the line again at the park. Guest Relations at DTD is next to Team Mickey.

I don't know what post he is close to, but not all of them have an MWR/ITT (MWR is Morale, Welfare, Recreation, not sure what ITT is) office, we didn't until recently at Ft. Benning. It's called Ticket and Travel on some posts.

They can be purchased at the gate, but you save the tax, which for 6 people is a good bit of savings. You can also purchase them at Shades of Green for the same price as the MWR/ITT.

If it is the service member plus six dependents the six ticket limit does not apply. But all must be present at the time the tickets are activated.

None of you would be considered dependents, except for your mom. Your dad can definitely buy the six 4 day tickets and then one of the "regular" military discounted tickets. I don't know if they sell those at the gate, though, or if you have to buy them at SoG or your local ITT. Cheshire would know that.

SoG is the ony place that sells the Stars and Stripes tickets that I have found. SoG and MWR sell regular MYW tickets without the tax, that seems to be the only discount on those.

Oh, yes, it is so much easier to go there if you aren't going to a park that night. We walked in and right to the counter and we were in and out in less than 10 minutes. Have ID ready for everyone and it will go much smoother.

"No Eligible Service Member or spouse may purchase, activate and/or use more than six (6) Disney 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets during any single week of the promotion. One (1) of the Disney 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets purchased on each occasion must be for use by the Eligible Service Member or spouse."
and that is NOT what happened to us in 2010, i understand the rules "changed" from 10 to 12 in the original memo given out when the promotion was extended however if you read the rules on disneys site no where does it say that the service member MUST be one of the 6

does anyone have hands on actual proof from recent times where they used 6 without the actual service member there and/or were declined to use 6 without the service member??

Well, we haven't had a place to buy them until recently, all we had was a amall travel agency on post and all they offered were the AFS tickets. I know the new office says they keep the AFS tickets, I know they sell the MYW, but not sure if they have to be ordered. I did ask about AP's and she said those would have to be ordered. I didn't ask about S&S tickets, because the AFS are a better value for us.

I also freaked when reading this on the boards tonight. My MIL (military widow) purchased all 6 of our tickets for our August trip. I too went back to the Disney website. It clearly says:
"One (1) of the Disney 4-Day Military Promotional Tickets purchased on each occasion must be for use by the Eligible Service Member or spouse."

So I'm not going to let this stress me out, but would like to hear if anyone else has ran into this as a problem.

Do you know there is a discount or what the discount is for tickets for military? My dad is retired military. Also I was told something about we might could get a discount on resorts. As of right now, the Armed Forces tickets and the room discounts end on Sept 30, 2012. No word on whether they will be extended or not.

She could book a room at Shades of Green and they have either the regular Magic Your Way tickets with the discount being you don't pay tax on them, or they have a Stars and Stripes ticket available which includes hopping and water park fun and more options. Prices for both of those are on the Shades of Green website.

She may also be able to purchase tickets at her local MWR office if she is close to a post that sells them, not all of them do.
