Hahahahahaha! Yeah, if you're keeping it a secret, you might not want to let them see! :goodvibes

We surprised the kids on the last trip, and it was horrible keeping that secret. It's so nice that they have been fully involved in the planning of this trip. Plus, now that is there third trip, they provide good input on their restaurant choices, etc....I LOVE THAT!!! My Disney babies are growing up! :goodvibes

Yes, this one is a surprise...the last two we told them well in advance and thought it would be nice to pull off one surprise. They think we won't be going back for about 5 - 7 years (DH's fake timeline) and everyday they talk about going back "to that place we stayed before...the Polynesian???"

It will be hard though, they are smart cookies especially the oldest!:)

They are all very smart, aren't they???

We haven't explained to them that we bought APs this year....we bought them because we are going for 11 days in July and planning on a definite April 2013 trip for at least 8 nights...but we are hoping to sneak in 1-2 more trips to do 3-4 trips in a year!!! Thinking Oct this year (though I think I'll end up bringing them by myself), and then June next year for SW weekend!!!

Do any of the cabana renters remember what the food selection was like when you request delivery? Wonder if they would deliver a plate lunch from Kona.
If you want to order a meal from kona regular menu and have it delivered to the cabana there is a minimum of $200 but you can still order from the room service menu.
Can someone describe where the premium cabana is in relation to the volcano pool? I'm fairly familiar with Poly but I don't remember seeing the premium cabana. It's on the beach, right? But, how close to the volcano pool?
The premium cabana is next to the barefoot bar. Behind the volcano. If you have any experience with the poly pool area, it is located where the hair wrap station used to be.

I just drank the Kool Aid and rented a cabana. Now, thinking about premium cabana. Lol!
If you have a huge family the premium cabana is perfect (it accommodates up to 10 people.) or your like us and really enjoy privacy and the ability to stretch out, it would be a great decision to rent the premium cabana. You can rent it for half day for $320 day or night or rent it all day and night for $640 (they don't offer a discounted all day rate.) I did a review from our last stay on the website that is not allowed to be mentioned (tiki) and said that we would not rent it again all day.. But alas we booked again for an all day rental. :confused3 the experience was relaxing. We did order a meal from kona and ate at that beautiful glass table beside the beach.. LOVELY! The furniture was sooo very comfortable. I posted pics of our last cabana rental somewhere on here but if you want I will post them again.

I know the general area of the premium cabana. I did read your review and it was great! Can you see the volcano pool from the premium cabana? We are staying at the Poly Lagoon View CL with my parents and the have mobility issues so we want to provide a comfortable place for them to hang out while our DD4 swims and plays on the beach.

We were looking at pictures of the quiet pool at the Poly and it looks like there are no longer stairs in the lower end but instead a ladder. Last year in February, the quiet pool was closed for renovations. Did they get rid of the stairs or are we just not seeing the picture correctly? Thanks!

I bought our departure airfare yesterday, so there is one step out of the way!

It wasn't awful, but it wasn't great. We got the non-stop on Alaska Airlines from Seattle to Orlando for $254 pp. Granted, that's only one way, but it was, surprisingly, cheaper than any other airline right now, including Southwest. I'm worried that the price of gas is just going to skyrocket so I wanted to at least get one way tickets paid for. I'm holding off on return tickets and hoping for a Southwest late summer sale. Trying to do the baggage fees thing on the way back with the Magical Express is a pain in the patootie.

Now you guys are making me feel like our whole 10 nights should be at the Poly and that our last day should involve a cabana rental....:rolleyes1

Too funny. We just put in for a rental for a cabana (standard) on our last full day at the Poly. We booked for 3-7 and were able to get it 35 days out. Don't know if we got lucky or what....

I'm thinking it will be nice to have somewhere guaranteed to sit, with some shade and beverages!!

You really can't see the pool from the premium cabana maybe a bit of the shallow end. The standard cabanas are set a little above the pool behind some foliage. Not a full view of the pool but better than the premium cabana

Is there a hair wrap station at the pool?
Yes. They moved it by the kiddie fountain area by the main path

They changed the depth of the quiet pool to 3ft all around I believe the ladder is there but we lost the 6ft depth.

YES! Please post!!! We are considering the premium cabana for our November trip! Would love to hear more about it! :thumbsup2
Here goes. Don't mind the family.. It's just mine!. :rotfl2:

I want to thank each and every one of you who have posted pictures. I am so looking forward to our trip in August and looking at those photos is making me want to be there now. I am so excited because yesterday I paid off our trip and now we are sitting back and watching the ticker tick down...slowly but surely :goodvibes. I can't wait for August to come :goodvibes.

Does anyone know why they made the quiet pool all 3 feet deep? thanks

Well they say it's to help with the overloading of the main pool. (little ones couldn't swim in the quiet pool. No lifeguards)

But in reality it's due to resort regulations. If they wanted to keep the quiet pool deep they MUST have lifeguards stationed.. Which they didn't.

It's the first time I've given control of my ADRS to anyone else....my 180 day mark is here, it opens tomorrow (Sunday April 1) for me at 4 am.....I am praying the POLY IPO gets me what I've requested! I have CALI GRILL on my arrival night and OHANA the next, so I really am putting a lot of trust in them to get me these popular ADRS ....I almost feel I should wake upat 4 am to book too online, then cancel what I don't need.....but I'm going to hold off on that and pray that they can work their magic for me :) I hope I won't regret letting go of control and letting them work on it!

I think you will be fine. But they will need a credit card to book California grill. Make sure you give them your credit card numbers or make that reservation yourself. You can always email or call them letting them know of your reservations. You will get a PDF of your itinerary with reservation numbers sent to you through your email.

I have found that getting the ADR you want has been a whole lot easier now that the E-ticket resteraunts require a CC to book! I love it! :woohoo: the reservation "piggies" don't want to put up a CC for something they may not use!
