Another Jet Blue Question

For all you JB frequent fliers. JB is releasing their next batch of tickets today. Do you think it is better to buy today when it is first released or wait for mid-week?

I don't know... but my fares released at $335 going down and $185 coming back so I can't book today. Last year we waited until Southwest came out and booked them for $214 down and then did use Jet Blue home and it was $114! This is at Christmas time.......... I will just have to keep watching I guess.

I'm getting similar prices as the PP. Xmas week, the 23rd-28th. Too much for us. I will wait it out and see if something pops up cheaper in the coming months. I remember last year in Aug the Dec Xmas week prices went down a lot so I'm hoping for the same this year. Will have to wait and see. Also I checked other dates, like "Jersey Week" Thanksgiving week, even the week between and the prices are much higher than the past. I also checked the week before Xmas and still the prices were high. I think the days of me getting those $89, $99 flights to MCO are gone! And I am fortunate enough to be able to fly out of 3 different airports, 5 if I wanted to go into the city and still all the fares are just too high.

Well, we are going 12/30 - 1/6 and the prices came out @ $236 round trip. That's high compared to what we normally pay, but we don't usually fly at peak times. I also have about $263 in credits, so for the 3 of us it would be $526. I'm thinking I should just go ahead and purchase them, but I'll be kicking myself if the price drops! :confused3

If the price drops you can get a credit for the difference for a future flight. I would just buy them now if I were you.

You'll kick even harder if the price goes up!! I would be thrilled with that price!

I booked Jet Blue on their release date for October and got $231 round trip from Newark, NJ to Orlando. Now same flight is $481!!! There are some cheaper times to fly, but still everything is about $100 more per person than we paid! Crazy!

I think the days of getting cheaper, reasonable flights is DEFINATELY over!!

Jet Blue just released fares for end of October thru early Jan. I just looked and I feel bad for anyone needing to buy plane tickets....prices are high for weekend and prime time flights! I don't know if this is a reflection of things to come or if it is reflecting the holiday travel season (Jersey Week, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years).

Well, I bit the bullet and just booked. I figured with the credits we had, it only cost $443 for the 3 of us. That's only $150 a person, not bad! If for some reason the fare decreases, I can always get a new credit. Anyway, thank you to all that replied.

The Veterans Day weekend flights in November are a lot higher than I expected. Starting price of $163-183+ each way! My round-trip flights in June 2010, January 2011, and January 2012 were $200-220 each. This all feels very sudden.

Those are the same fares I saw, formill. Are you also looking at flying out of Syracuse?

We paid $1000 return for all three of us this past New Years (December 31 - January 7), and we thought that was high for Syracuse. There is no way I will be able to get DH to consider another Christmas vacation trip at more than $2K return.

I am very thankful that we have our August trip booked. Our $868 total cost for the family looks like an absolute steal in comparison to yesterday's fare release!

Here in Canada, we usually save 50%-75% by crossing the border and flying from a US airport. The additional drive can save us a ton. Our New Years week flights this year would have been double the cost if we flew from Pearson in Toronto.

I just ran a couple of Christmas 2012 dates on both Air Canada and JetBlue. Air Canada came out cheaper by $200 . Then we'd have to add on foreign exchange on the purchase price for JetBlue, making them even costlier yet.

I love JetBlue and I love the Syracuse airport (much easier to get around than Toronto's monstrosity) but there's no way I'd pay MORE to fly from there than from our home airport.

deleted. Sorry, this post was a little too political. Let's just say that I would not expect a drop in gas prices this year due to the election. This will likely keep airfare high as well.

If the price drops you can get a credit for the difference for a future flight. I would just buy them now if I were you.

Can you tell me how you get credit for a price decrease? I thought that as only if you buy a 'vacation package' which includes booking a hotel...

I bought yesterday. Reagan National to Orlando. 2 seats with the total cost at $363 and change. When I priced JB agains Southwest before JB's new shedule JB was about $100 per ticket cheaper than Southwest. I'll spend the extra 30 minutes driving to National for that.

If you notice that the airfare on your reserve flights drops, you can call JB and ask them to grant you a credit. They will create an online account for you in their credit management system. Then in the future when you go to buy another ticket, you can apply that credit during check out. The credit must be applied within one year after being granted though. Last year we got a $110 credit this way.

Also, if your flight is delayed and it is JB's fault, they will issue you a credit. We got $150 in November when our flight was delayed 2 hours.

When are you going? That's a really good price! I paid $236 per ticket before the credits, but that's during Christmas week.

Excellent info. - I had no idea - thanks!

Whats the best way to track fare rates? Heading to disneyland from the east coast in December, and surprised how hight the rates were. Also I wouldnt want to book for a credit because we only fly about every 15 months. is there some alert website that would email me if it changes?
