Hello everyone and welcome to my second Pre Trip Report.:welcome:

I guess that means I should know what I'm doing. If you have any kind of expectations for me, then clearly you didn't read my first Pre Trip Report or my Trip Report from our last adventure.

This trip will be a big undertaking. My mom has wanted to take a big trip for the past couple of years with all of her children and her grandson. She has been planning and trying to get everything into place, and it has finally happened.

The title of this PTR comes from the trip that DW, DS and I took the week after Thanksgiving. We had a pin code and went on what might have been a once in a lifetime type trip to see the parks all decked out for the holidays. When we returned to talk about it and show the pictures, it became a goal to get back and see it again. Since the rest of the family wanted to see it too, then what better time to go than during the early holiday season?

Cast:

Me, Andy. I'm a 30 year old Disney loving dad. I've been to Disney World several times over the years, the first time was when I was 3 years old. Everyone always says there's no point taking a kid that young to Disney, because they'll never remember it. Well, I might not remember every little detail, but I definitely remember some things from that trip and that will be with me for the rest of my life. My favorite park is Magic Kingdom, my favorite ride is Rock n Rollercoaster and my favorite character is Goofy.

DW: She has been to Disney World several times over the years too. She is nowhere near as big of a fan as I am, but few people outside these boards are. She has fun, but she'd much rather be sitting on a beach during vacation. Her favorite park is Magic Kingdom, her favorite ride is Rock n Rollercoaster and her favorite character is Piglet.

DS: He will be 2 (almost 3) when we go back. He just had his first visit in Nov/Dec at 22 months. He had a good time and it was definitely a learning curve for us. Sometimes he liked characters, other times, not so much. His favorite park is Magic Kingdom, his favorite ride is Toy Story Mania, and his favorite character is Mickey. He even "draws" Mickey. He'll make 3 little swirls that are almost circles and almost touching each other and then point at it and say Mickey. Not too bad for a 2 year old, I guess.:confused3

DD: Well, she is technically not here yet. She will be between 7 and 8 months old when we go. We've done it with a 22 month old toddler, but this is guaranteed to be a whole new experience for all of us.:scared1:

Grandma & Grandpa: My mom and dad. We are going on the trip that my mom has wanted for a couple of years. She has been working towards it and planning, so this is really her trip (but I'm still going to fun too). My mom is the one who started my love and addiction for the magic of Disney World. My Dad has a good time and enjoys the family time. He used to always take me on the big rides when I was little (because mom doesn't do heights), but he has had motion sickness issues the past few trips and really hasn't ridden much. He and mom did the Keys to the Kingdom Tour last time we went while my sisters and I were off riding the rides and they really seemed to have a great time. We might need to look into another tour of some sort that he might enjoy.

Sister 1 & BIL: They will have been married just a couple of months longer than 2 years by the time we leave. She has been to Disney World almost as many times as I have and enjoys it. She has a gluten allergy, so mom has delegated authority to her and me to make our ADRs. BIL has never been. I don't think he's too sure about the idea of going to Disney World, but I've been trying to talk it up. I think a ride on Rock n Rollercoaster and an afternoon around the World Showcase will be about all I'll need to convert him.

Sister 2: She is a twin to my other sister. She lives at home and has been to Disney World with us all several times over the years. She is like me in the fact that she loves thrill rides and can't get enough. DW likes them to a point, but she has some motion sickness issues so she'll ride about once a trip and that's it. I'm sure that my sister will be my ride buddy for anything like, say, a Star Tours back to back to back to back...

We will be staying at Coronado Springs from Sat Dec 1 - Sat Dec 8. My parents and Sister 2 will be driving, as will DW and I. We'll plan to leave late the night of November 30 so that the kids will hopefully sleep for the bulk of the drive. Sister 1 and BIL will be flying into Orlando sometime the night of Sunday Dec 2 or early Monday.

We're going to have the Quick Service Dining Plan, but mom has requested that we plan some table service meals to all eat together. Sister 1 and I will be in charge of making those arrangements. We would like to try to go to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party together during the trip as well. I haven't mentioned this to mom yet, but their anniversary is during the trip. She loves Liberty Tree Tavern and it will likely be a party night, so I've already penciled in an MK day with an early dinner at LTT and some MVMCP tickets. Aside from that, we're planning to go to Universal Studios for 1 day. We'll probably get 2 park tickets to see some of the highlights in each park, but my sisters and I are really just interested in the rollercoasters. Mom is just excited about taking her grandson to Seuss Landing.

Thanks for dropping by to check this PTR out. It will probably be a little bit light on updates until we get closer to that ADR window. We've got a lot going on with another baby getting ready to make an appearance sometime in the next few weeks.

Hi from a former Hoosier. :wave2:I was born an raised in Indiana. Just moved to KY in July. The holidays are great the World. Sounds like you have quite a crew going. Look forward to your update.

Dang....I missed first (I shouldn't have read your final thoughts until I subscribed over here). :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Can't wait to read all about it -- it will be different with a baby and a toddler, but I'm sure it will be great. And you are staying at one of my favorite resorts. :goodvibes

Followed along on your last TR and noticed you just began this PTR, so I'm joining in! Sounds like a big family vacation, and what better time to go and spend quality time with loved ones than during the holidays? :thumbsup2

Checking in!

I love how in your intro you talk about your mom igniting your love of Disney. I hope Reid says that when he's your age.

Can't wait to hear about all the planning! And of course the arrival of the new bundle of joy! :goodvibes

Signing-on Andy!

You're working on ADRs, eh? Will you be returning to Via Napoli and Le Cellier?

:scared1:Oh My God! You're actually considering taking an infant to Disney World?:scared1:

I'll let you know how it goes this summer. :thumbsup2

I'm here... popcorn::

And don't worry about taking an infant to Disney...

My youngest son was 4 months when we flew down to Texas and did Sea World and South Padre Island... He was 21 months for his first trip to Disney and 31 months on his second trip to Disney...

The Texas vacation was the easiest... Once they start walking and talking, watch out!!!! :lmao:

Yes, the last time we went with my parents was the summer after my wife and I were married. We're going to have one more adults and 2 more kids than the last time.

You actually read that? :confused3 :lmao:

It will be different, but definitely fun! I had to do a double take when I started skimming through the CSR FAQ thread and saw your name prominently mentioned. It must be a good choice.:thumbsup2

Thanks for stopping by. We'd be spending some quality family time together somewhere anyway, but I'm kind of partial to this location.:rolleyes1

I hope Reid does feel that way a few years down the road. You've done very well in getting him started in that regard.

The "arrival" will likely happen before anymore planning. Otherwise, DW might not be very happy.:rolleyes1

:welcome:

Since we'll be doing Table Service out of pocket, I don't know about Le Cellier. I'd love to though. DW and I have decided we're going to Via Napoli whether everyone else wants to or not. They're more than welcome to join us, but even if it doesn't make the cut, we're still going.:lmao::rotfl2:

I probably need to find out, for my sister, what they have as far as gluten free diets go at Via Napoli. Anyone have any experience there???:confused3

I know, what kind of idiot would try to take a baby that young with them???:confused3 Good luck, we're all counting on you... I really mean it. :lmao::rotfl2:

Good point about the walking thing. I guess our biggest concern is touring the parks while still keeping on a somewhat regular nap/feeding schedule. With DS at 22 months, it was pretty simple, because he was good about letting us know when he wanted to snack or sleep. And if he doesn't want to, there's no point trying.:lmao: :rotfl:

I'm here! :goodvibes

joining in of course :)

I'm back in!

I think that you'll have no problems with the baby. We took Everett at 4 and 6 months and he was the best behaved and most easy going of anyone on those trips! I really think it is much easier to travel with a baby to WDW than a toddler, and since you thrived on your last trip, you're in for easy sailing!

One of the best sanity saving items I took on those baby trips were baby food in pouches (don't have to worry about them breaking like glass jars) and the little spoon attachments that screwed right onto the pouches. It made mealtime super easy and less messy.

I could also send you a link to my reviews of the nursing facilities at the baby care centers that I did after Everett's first trip. They were awesome and made nursing in the parks extra easy and comfortable.

You guys are going to have an awesome trip! I'm looking forward to reading about the details!

I haven't been keeping up but I'm subbing anyway. I 'might' pop my head in from time to time. :lmao:

I can see how it would be easier to take an infant as opposed to a toddler. I'm just not sure we're ready to try to keep DS under control while we still have another one to take care of.:lmao:

Thanks for the tip about the baby food. I hadn't even thought about that yet. I'm sure DW would appreciate any information on nursing facilities. That is one of our concerns about making this trip.

Yes, yes you have been keeping up. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Actually Andy, I just realized we are there at the same time. We are going with my parents Dec 1-9 at AKV.

I've been slacking here lately, so I thought I'd pop in to give a little bit of a real life update.

First of all, no baby yet. The due date is Saturday, so it could be any time now.

Secondly, I've been dealing with this little issue the past few days...

I was taking DS to the baby sitter Thursday morning and got T-boned by a school bus. The bus stopped at a stop sign and then all of a sudden decided to go just as I was getting to the intersection.

DS and I were both fine, although I saw the accident coming before it happened so I took to the ditch to keep from having a sqaured up hit with the bus. One girl on the bus was checked for a head injury, but was apparently ok.

After I regained my senses and realized what the heck just happened, I turned to check on DS, expecting to see him somewhat shaken up. He looked at me, pointed out the window and said "bus."

Yes, yes it is. :lmao: :rotfl2:

Anyway, the accident was the bus driver's fault. He was issued a ticket, but dealing with this crap the week our baby is due is definitely not what I wanted to be doing. It really frustrates me too, because I just bought this truck less than 6 months ago and it only has 3900 miles on it.:headache: I know, I know, we're both ok, but now that the important part has been established, I think I'm entitled to be upset that he tore up my new truck.:lmao:
