Are these hard to get? Are they higher priced? I thought it might be a cool place to be with a great view. Any of you guys ever stay in one? Thanks!

Price is based on category and they tend to be higher category rooms, so in those terms you could say it is more. Just depends on which category the room you're interested in is assigned to.

As far as hard to get, I'd recommend booking early. We just had a center aft on the Dream. We booked 14 months out and the afts were starting to get scarce at that time...

Good luck!

The Aft Balcony's on the Fantasy and Dream are Cat 5E. They were recently reclassified from a 6A I think.

There are several threads on the AFT balconies with pictures.

On the Magic and Wonder the Aft Balconies are true white wall verandah's (unlike the Dream/Fantasy where the whitewall only comes up about 18 inches) Most of them are handicap or 1 bedroom suites. There are also much fewer true aft cabins on the Magic/Wonder.

We absolutely LOVED :lovestruc our aft cabin 9674 on the Dream!! We had a chance to re-book it on board when we booked our next cruise but chose to try another aft cabin 9172 just for variety...well, I tried about 3 weeks later to change the room back to 9674 and was out of luck! :sad2: I've tried several times since then to change our room to 9674, but to no avail. In fact, the only "aft" cabins available seem to be aft/port or aft/starboard...I'd say they are pretty popular!! ;)

We will be in Aft 9674 Disney Dream on September 30th . . .can't hardly wait! Thanks to thewigs for all the great info . . .I'm hoping to love it as much as they did!:thumbsup2

We have a completely Aft cabin for an upcoming May cruise. We were assigned it after booking a GTY 6A. And as a PP said, the Aft cabins have been reclassified as 5E's. I'm cautiously optimistic as to our location. I know from reading that the cabin is large enough, but my concern is and will be what noise we might hear in that location. (I have also read that the side thrusters could be an issue upon docking)

We have 9674 on the dream for august 5. I booked a 5E gty so I am stoked I got this seemingly coveted room.

Yes...you hear the engines when you dock, but we just used that as our alarm to get up! :rotfl: We would not have termed that a "con" for the room...plus the SPECTACULAR view as you come into port at Castaway Cay more than makes up for any engine noise!! :thumbsup2 Enjoy!! :wizard:

We have 10664 on the Fantasy in July and we're super excited for the deep verandah! And I can't imagine what backing into Castaway Cay will look like - we've always had port side cabins before and no view.

We took our 1st Disney cruise last May on the Dream. Our room (6190) was completely aft & we loved it! The balcony is huge and it was very quiet back there. The view when in port, especially Castaway Cay, was gorgeous. But, it was also breathtaking when we were sailing. You could see the most beautiful blue water trailing behind the boat. And you can get great sunrise/sunset pictures. We just booked a cruise for next year on the Fantasy & we will be staying completely aft again (7690 this time).

Thanks so much for the responses. I just looked and I am in 5E #5658. I wish I would have known those were the same catagory when I booked. I would have tried for one of them. I am thinking next time I will have to try the back of the ship. We go in June so I am sure it is to late to switch. I cant seem to find the pics in the search of these rooms..any suggestions?

We have stayed (and will again in NOV) in 5652 - this is a great location! On the day you go to Castaway Cay - go get your breakfast at Cabanas and eat it on the balcony as you are pulling in!! :thumbsup2

Thanks! On the map of the ship it looks like 9172 verandah is slightly larger than 9674...and we thought that one was nice and roomy! :thumbsup2

Glad to see all the good responses about aft cabins. We were on the Dream in May 2011 in a mid-ship cabin. For our upcoming June cruise we booked 8186 completely aft balcony cabin. really excited about it!!!!!

Anyone stayed in this cabin?

Thanks, Cathy

I had 8684 on the Dream last year and LOVED it (it's 2 doors down and identical). I'm also booked for the same room on the Fantasy in a few months. It was still a 6A when I booked it so I feel like I got a deal. :cool1:
