An Anniversary Trip Full of Favorites-May 2012 PTR!*TR Link 5/14 & Question 5/15 p32*

Cupcakes for breakfast...just another reason to love Disney! Your plans look great...you're sure to enjoy the relaxing pool time!

Yeah, Congrats on being paid in full! it is a really good feeling that's for sure..

Love the day 2 plans...definitely go for the 2 cupcakes for breakfast!!!!!

I gotta say...if we DON'T run into each other, it'll be a surprise. We have identical planning strategies. :rotfl:

I'm really hoping TSMM lets people in at 8:30, that way there's no mad dash. That can be such an overwhelming thing to experience first thing in the morning.

Starring Rolls cupcakes are amazing! I haven't tried the Butterfinger one before, but it looks good. And what's a vacation without splurging and getting a second one?

It's great that you're giving yourself plenty of time to relax. Even if you decide you don't want to sit around anymore, at least you gave yourself the option. :thumbsup2

Woohoo For the trip being paid off!!!! :D

Love your day 2 addendum!!!
My husband would always do the mad dash and get us FPs and we would meet up slowly lol

Great plans for the day! You should definitely get both cupcakes! They are both so good, although I am partial to the red velvet cheesecake. Red velvet cake and cheesecake are two of my favorite things. Can't believe it is only 45 days away!

Thanks! I probably will get both...I'm guessing I can probably convince Brandon to get the Butterfinger one, because he loves Butterfingers! :cool1:

I think your Day 2 plans sound great!

I can't remember, have you had one of the Starring Rolls cupcakes before? I've had the Red Velvet... sooo yummy. I am definitely getting one on my next trip. I can't decided between the Butterfinger or Chocolate Peanut Butter. Shane doesn't have a sweet tooth like I do, so whichever one I get I'll probably have to eat the majority by myself!

Thanks!

Well, I haven't gotten to Starring Roles in my TR yet, but yes, I have had one of the cupcakes! Which is why I want to go back for more! I also just saw they have a peanut butter chocolate cupcake at the Main Street Bakery on the Disney Food Blog today, and it looks unreal! There are peanut butter chips in the cake! So I might be stopping by the bakery for one of those too...gonna be eating lots of cupcakes on this trip!

Ok, I think you just described the perfect day. I was able to do the whole TSM FP mad dash then immediately ride standby twice last summer, so hopefully you'll get your chance too. Don't get discouraged if the line seems really long for standby, at first it flows by really quickly and it's mostly just walking. It's especially true if you manage to be amongst the firsts to egt a FP. Plus, if you are lucky they'll let you go through the special line for groups of 2, which will make you by pass most of the wait.

All the other things you mentioned doing at DHS are my favorites : Red Velvet cupcake for breakfast (I'm drooling right now!), drawing class, TOT and RNR. Awesomeness!

Then going back to the Beach Club and spending time enjoying Stormalong Bay pool is a dream of mine. Gosh, I hope I get to dip my feet in this amazing pool at least once in my life!!

The rest of the day seems great as well. :)

Thanks! I did get discouraged when we tried to do the TSM mad dash in October, so we skipped it, but I'm ready this year! I have to ride it at least once! There's a special line just for groups of 2?

Don't those cupcakes look SO good! I don't see anything wrong with having a cupcake for breakfast, yum! :woohoo:

I can't believe I'm staying at the Beach Club again...I never thought I'd get to stay there once, never mind twice! It's a dream come true! :cloud9: The pool is amazing, I'm so happy we're actually going to have a lot of time to enjoy it this time! I'd like to go in it at night sometime, too, it looks so pretty all lit up!

Love the plans, Jen. It sounds like a perfect day.

I used to think EMH's got less crowded as the hours have gone on, but the last two times we went, it was crowded the whole night. Is May a better time?

Thanks!

When we went in May in 2010, I was surprised by the crowds, since I was told it would be slow, but it wasn't too bad. EMH's seem to be more and more crowded overall, but they still appear to die down the later it gets! Nothing is ever going to beat the EMH's on our September 2008 trip, the parks were totally empty, it was almost a little creepy! I miss that! :sad1:

Okay so you pretty much just described the perfect day at Disney! Great plans! :thumbsup2

Have you walked to DHS from Beach Club before? John and I were talking about potentially walking in July, but we weren't sure how long of a walk it is.

I definitely think you need to get BOTH cupcakes! I think the red velvet is better, but the Butterfinger is really good too!

YAY Animation Academy! My favorite! :lovestruc

Ohhh I want to ride RnRC and ToT so bad right now :sad1:

Awesome! That sounds like an amazing day!

Thanks! It does sound like a pretty great day! :cool1:

We haven't walked from the Beach Club to DHS, just Epcot. I'm not sure how long of a walk it is, I'm guessing like 20-30 minutes? Apparently the boats are really slow, so that's not really an option rope drop morning...if we have a car, we'll probably end up driving over there, even though it's right in our backyard!

If I don't get both cupcakes, I'm leaning more towards the red velvet, just because I think it's amazing that there is cheesecake on top of it! :worship: However, the Butterfinger looks really good too! I might grab one on the way out to take back to the room...you know, for a snack before I go to bed! :rolleyes1

I can't wait to ride ToT and RnRC again!!! I also can't wait to do the Animation Academy! And everything at DHS! I love that park sooo much!!

Thumbs up on the DHS day! TSM is awesome--I hope we get to ride stand-by, and then grab a FP for later during our trip! Love Animation Academy! My DD would LOVE the red velvet cupcake. Southern girls love their red velvet!

I hope you enjoy your dinner at Cali Grill! Even though it's been four years, I still remember it as one of our best meals ever at Disney.

MK is extra magical during evening magic hours!

Thanks! I'm hoping for the same thing with TSM, ride once, then FP later! I can't wait to get a cupcake from Starring Roles! Disney cupcakes are the best! :)

I cannot wait to eat at Cali Grill!! Everyone says it's great, so I'm sure we will love it!

I love MK magic hours, they are always so much fun!

That day sounds like so much fun! I love those cupcakes from Starring Rolls. I think I prefer the Butterfinger cupcake to the red velvet, but getting both sounds like a great plan.

California Grill followed by MK EMH sounds extraordinarily magical!

Thanks! It's going to be a tough choice if I have to choose between both cupcakes, that's why I'm either going to go with both and bring one back to the room, or make Brandon get the Butterfinger one! I'm sure he won't have a problem with being forced to eat a cupcake! :rotfl2:

I'm so excited for Cali Grill! And them MK EMH!!! :woohoo:

Great plans. Nothing says relaxation like SAB! :goodvibes

I love that picture in RnR. I have yet to take a picture in there, but I really want to. I'm always afraid I won't get my camera put away in time!

I hope you love Cali Grill and then walking to EMH (or railing over) sounds a like great way to cap off the day.

Awesome Day 2 plan! Not sure if you know this or not, but that outdoor Market thingy (the name of which always escapes me!) that is next to Starring Rolls, actually does breakfast sandwiches in the mornings, if you're tempted! Not 100% sure of the exact offerings, but I've seen them pop up on TR's a few times lately!

We never schedule pool time either and we got really tired of being at these great resorts and never using the pool so we started MAKING time for it! We actually used the pool at CSR twice in 2010! :woohoo::laughing:

When you get over to TSM, you should have Brandon get in line while you get FPs for later and then you can join him in the stand-by! I am so paranoid about this for my July trip...I'm thinking that we will make a run for it, have everyone get in line except one person who will FPs for later, and then we can all ride twice....I'm just hoping that the mob is up to the challenge so early in the morning!

Eh, I'm not sure if I want to eat an actual breakfast that morning when I can be eating cupcakes, you know? But thanks, I'll keep that in mind for Brandon, he sometimes wants a "real" breakfast!

Wow, I don't know if we've ever used a pool twice! Maybe at the WL the first time we stayed there...it's possible we even went in 3 times, but that's never happened again! I have to go in SAB at least twice this time!

I don't know, am I allowed to do that? Just walk through a line and find Brandon? What if someone thinks I'm some line cutter and blocks me? :scared1: I would cry...Maybe I'll make him get the FP's and I'll get in the standby line!

Hopefully, there is no more mad dash and you won't have to stress about it in July, it seems like they're trying to do away with it and let people in early! I hope!!

Sounds like a great trip! We are checking in on May 6th - 9th, and are really excited to be there through the flower and garden festival! Can't wait!!!

Thanks! The Flower and Garden festival is so much fun, you will have a great time on your trip! :yay:

Not sure what will be happening with the DHS early openings then, but my guess is they will keep them around. Things really seemed calmer and smoother when we saw it!

I think an afternoon at Stormalong Bay sounds like the perfect plan! :thumbsup2

I don't think it's weird to go through Epcot for the monorail! I've gone through Epcot just to get to the bus stops many times (maybe THAT was a bit of a silly idea...).

I hope they keep opening DHS early! I wonder how they will handle it during peak times? Well, March and April are peak times right? I guess we'll be hearing soon if they are still doing it or not! I just hope the whole world doesn't catch on while I'm there!

I can't wait to just lounge around SAB! I'm going to bring my Kindle and just relax!! Which I never do on vacation, so it's about time I gave it a try! :rotfl:

Haha, I figured people might think going through Epcot to get to the monorail was a huge waste of time but...I love the monorail, and we hardly ever take it to MK, so it will be nice to hang out on there for a little while! It's going to take like, an hour to get from point A to point B, but that's ok! :woohoo:

I love everything about your plans except the ToT! haha I just can't handle that ride.
Relaxing by the pool in the middle of the day and then a nice meal at California Grill sounds like the perfect way to recharge for EMH @ MK! :thumbsup2

Thanks! Ahhh, no ToT for you? I don't know what I'd do if I couldn't handle that ride! It's so much fun, and I love the Twilight Zone so the theme makes it even more amazing!! :woohoo:

I can't wait to be at SAB and then eat at Cali Grill! And EMH at MK are always so much fun! I wish it was May! I'm getting so anxious!

Cupcakes for breakfast...just another reason to love Disney! Your plans look great...you're sure to enjoy the relaxing pool time!

Haha, cupcakes are an acceptable breakfast choice in Disney, right? :yay: I hope I can relax by the pool, I'm looking forward to it, but I really do get bored hanging out by a pool after like, an hour, so I'm going to really need to just forget about everything and enjoy being there while I am! :cloud9:

Yeah, Congrats on being paid in full! it is a really good feeling that's for sure..

Love the day 2 plans...definitely go for the 2 cupcakes for breakfast!!!!!

Thanks! I love being PIF! :dance3:

Thank you, I most likely will get 2 cupcakes, even though it's a little crazy, what better way to try them, right? It's too hard to make a decision between the 2!

I gotta say...if we DON'T run into each other, it'll be a surprise. We have identical planning strategies. :rotfl:

I'm really hoping TSMM lets people in at 8:30, that way there's no mad dash. That can be such an overwhelming thing to experience first thing in the morning.

It's great that you're giving yourself plenty of time to relax. Even if you decide you don't want to sit around anymore, at least you gave yourself the option. :thumbsup2

Haha, I'm sure we will run into each other! Probably in line for TSM! :rotfl:

I hope there's no mad dash either, I'm not looking forward to it. If it does happen, I'm gonna just do it alone, Brandon seriously like, rebels against it! I don't really want to do it, but I guess you kind of have to to get a FP! :sad2:

I love Starring Roles, I can't wait to try another one of the cupcakes!

I'm happy we have a ton of pool time on this day, it will be nice to not have to rush around for once! Our dinner ADR is sometime after 7, so we have a few hours to do nothing! It will be great!

Woohoo For the trip being paid off!!!! :D

Love your day 2 addendum!!!
My husband would always do the mad dash and get us FPs and we would meet up slowly lol

Woo hoo, I'm so happy this trip is paid off! :dance3:

Thanks! I'm thinking if there is a mad dash, I'll just do it by myself and meet up with Brandon once it's over! If he comes with me, he will just complain the whole time! :rotfl2:

GREAT plans!!
GREAT food!! I'm all for cupcakes for breakie on a holiday :thumbsup2

but :hug::hug: Lots of hugs for you - poor you fr never having tried a Dole Whip yet!! You will love it I'm sure :)

Great day 2 plans! That red velvet cupcake brings back memories and has me drooling right about now!! :rotfl:

Enjoy riding ToT and CG - it sure is a great restaurant :thumbsup2

Day 2 sounds fantastic! I'm a huge fan of Writer's Stop!! I think it's much calmer than Starring Roles...but those cupcakes are certainly a draw!
We are also not lie by the pool types, but SAB certainly provides a lot to look at/be entertained by!

Thanks! I did get discouraged when we tried to do the TSM mad dash in October, so we skipped it, but I'm ready this year! I have to ride it at least once! There's a special line just for groups of 2?

At TSM there isn't a special line just for groups of 2 like there are single-rider lines at RNR, EE and TT. However, when you get to the merge point of standby and FP lines (just after you collect the 3D glasses), they usually ask you how many in your party. It didn't happen every time, but several times last trip when we said 2 the CM led us to a line on the right, thus bypassing the whole "after the merge" line. At the end of the line the CM would just us people from the "special" line when carts had one empty seat (for example, with groups of 5-6). We mostly were led through that line when using a FP, but it did happen once when we were in the regular line.

Congrats on being paid in full.

That really sounds like an amazing day!

I say don't worry about a rental car and just take the ME. Of course, that's coming from someone who has never rented a car at WDW. With your location, though, I'd have trouble justifying forking over the $$$ for one.

Plus, if you walk over to DHS, you can feel extra justified about getting two cupcakes! :rotfl: I, personally, love the chocolate peanut butter one. I hear the others are great though, too. They are HUGE, but if Brandon's up for eating some and you're both hungry, you should be okay.

We always do the one-gets-FP and one-gets-in-line thing for TSM. I walk faster and get the FP (usually a line, so it takes some time) and then I meet Dug outside the building in the line (He'll let people go ahead if he's up to the building). Works for us.

That's great that you have relaxed pool time at Beach Club! Love Stormalong Bay!

I hope you enjoy CA Grill and have a great time at EMH at MK that night! We did that once...it was hard to figure out what to wear that would meet the dress code for CA Grill, but also be comfortable for a late night in the MK.

I can't believe you've never had a Dole Whip Float. That must be corrected!

YAY!! Paid in full!!! :cheer2:

I say have to 2 cupcakes for breakfast! You are on vacation and celebrating your anniversary! Just think...you need lots of energy to do all the walking around ;)

Sounds like a perfect day!:goodvibes

Thanks! I can't WAIT to be at SAB, hanging out, drinking a pina colava (or whatever tropical drink I happen to have in my hand!)

Isn't that picture cool? I didn't take it, or course, I borrowed it from Google! I'd love to see what kind of pics you can get in there! :thumbsup2

I can't wait for Cali Grill, and then ending the night at MK, it's going to be perfect! :lovestruc

GREAT plans!!
GREAT food!! I'm all for cupcakes for breakie on a holiday :thumbsup2

but :hug::hug: Lots of hugs for you - poor you fr never having tried a Dole Whip yet!! You will love it I'm sure :)

Thanks! I can't wait to stuff myself full of Disney cupcakes!

Haha, don't worry, I've had a Dole Whip! I just haven't had a float yet, I've always wanted to try one, but I'm afraid it will be way too pineapple-y!

Great day 2 plans! That red velvet cupcake brings back memories and has me drooling right about now!! :rotfl:

Enjoy riding ToT and CG - it sure is a great restaurant :thumbsup2

Thanks! I can't wait to get a Disney cupcake! And going to Cali Grill, I have a feeling we're going to love it! :cool1:

We are also not lie by the pool types, but SAB certainly provides a lot to look at/be entertained by!

Thanks! I love Writer's Stop too! It is much calmer than SR, but unfortunately, they don't have cupcakes!

I'm going to make an effort to enjoy relaxing by the pool on this trip, it might take some getting used to, but SAB is so amazing, I really want to take advantage of it!

At TSM there isn't a special line just for groups of 2 like there are single-rider lines at RNR, EE and TT. We mostly were led through that line when using a FP, but it did happen once when we were in the regular line.

Ohhh...well, that's helpful! I hope they do that when we go through, sounds like it will save a lot of time! :yay:

Congrats on being paid in full.

That really sounds like an amazing day!

Thanks, I'm so excited!

I hope Brandon doesn't mind eating a cupcake, I'm guessing he won't! :rotfl: And that is a good strategy for TSM, I might have to borrow that!

I already know what I'm wearing to CA Grill, I actually bought a dress that is cute enough to be dressy for CA Grill, but casual enough to run around MK all night! And I'll probably bring a change of clothes in Brandon's backpack, just in case! :rotfl:

I know, I really need to try a Dole Whip Float!

YAY!! Paid in full!!! :cheer2:

I say have to 2 cupcakes for breakfast! You are on vacation and celebrating your anniversary! Just think...you need lots of energy to do all the walking around ;)

Sounds like a perfect day!:goodvibes

Haha, good point, when you put it that way, 2 cupcakes sounds perfectly reasonable! :thumbsup2

You have no idea how jealous I am... STORMALONG BAY!!!!!! :yay:

You have no idea how excited I am!!! :dance3: :woohoo: :yay: I will take lots of pictures for you!

Day 3 Plans and other stuff!

Hi everyone! I'm sorry I didn't do a quote at the beginning of this update, I'm exhausted, I barely slept last night for some reason, and I just can't think of a good one for some reason! :confused3

So Brandon and I were talking last night, and I asked him if he remembered where we are staying on this trip, and of course, he said no. So I said

"You have no idea? Why don't you guess?"

"The Beach Club?"

Silence. Then "Noooo, not the Beach Club..."

"Well where then? It's the Beach Club isn't it?"

More silence and possibly some angry glaring. "NO. NOT the Beach Club."

This went on for a few more minutes until I managed to change the subject, but how annoying is that? He just randomly guesses the Beach Club? I almost feel like now, there's no reason to even go through with the surprise because he already assumes we're staying there. I guess I'm totally predictable!

I did end up reserving a rental car over the weekend. Rates dropped a tiny little bit, so I wanted to at least have one in case they went back up, but I'm still not happy about the price for only 5 days...$182 for a compact car! That is crazy! So I'm thinking tonight, when he gets home (if I'm up til 11:30 that is!) I'm just going to tell him yes, we're staying at the BC, and what do you think of using ME? I'm guessing he won't be too thrilled about it, but I'd like to at least see what he says.

In other news, I finally rejoined Weight Watchers yesterday. I do this before every trip, and I always fail. So I'm not going to update you guys about my progress until right before our trip, or unless I do REALLY good one week! I've been struggling lately, so I need to get back on track, and we have 6 weeks! I'd like to lose 20 pounds by the time our trip gets here, but I'd be ok with 15. :thumbsup2

On to our Day 3 plans!

This morning is hard to plan, because well, I'm not sure where we will be! We could be at

tumblr_m1h7qcvsZ51qdz6jvo1_500.jpg

The Magic Kingdom! I have to go there during the day at least once, just to wander around, do some of our favorites, maybe get a funnel cake at Sleepy Hollow! I'd like to attempt rope drop, but if we make it to the end of EMH the night before, we'll probably need to sleep in a little!

If we don't go to MK, we'll go to

FlowerandGarden1.jpg

Epcot! To check out the Flower and Garden festival

EpcotFlowerGardenFestivalImage_SleepingBeauty_384.jpg

and ride Soarin a million times!

Either way, whatever we do that morning, it will be fun, because we'll be in Disney World, after all! :cool1:

After we finish up our morning, we'll go back to BC to rest, shower, maybe hang out by the pool again, and then we'll head back out to our next park...

hollywood-studios-picture-002.jpg

Hollywood Studios! We have an ADR at Mama Melrose's that night, so before and after, we'll just be running around, having fun! I'd like to do the Great Movie Ride, Star Tours, the Muppets, and of course, what else but Tower of Terror!

tumblr_lu292edFYR1qhi766o1_500.png

And at some point during the night, I'm going to need to get a turkey leg. It's my tradition, I have to have a turkey leg at DHS. I know they have them at the other parks, but I've been having one at DHS since our first trip together in 2008 and it's just something I love to do!

turkey-leg.jpg

Once we're good and exhausted from all the DHS awesomeness we can handle in one night, we'll drag ourselves out and back to the Beach Club and on the way out, just take in the beauty of Hollywood Boulevard at night!

best-time-to-visit-disney-world.jpg

Ahhh, I love it there at night! :lovestruc

And that's Day 3! I keep thinking about our plans and wondering if I should change them around a bit...not our night plans, because I don't want to mess with our ADR's but I'm not really happy with the mornings right now, so they might be totally different once the trip gets here! It's so hard planning a trip for just 5 days! I can't wait to go on another week long trip again! It seems like it's been forever! :rotfl:

Have a great week!

Oh yes, one last thing...40 more days!!!!

i know what you mean about planning a shorter trip... this one coming up is my first shorter than a week. I'm trying not to plan long nights, since I know we'll want to be up early to maximize our time in the parks!

I should appreciate DHS at night more, that last picture looks really beautiful!

I know EXACTLY what you mean about having a certain food item in a certain park. I'm that way about Mickey ice cream bars in DHS. I'll get them at another park but I just  eating one in DHS!
