Our flight arrival time is 9:55 p.m. looking online it states that if you arrive after 10 you will need to get your luggage and take it to magical express. So if we are on time do we need to get it or because there is no way we will get down to magical express by 10:00 we will have to pick it up. Then if they do get it when will they deliver it will we need to pack a overnight bag for clothes and toiletries to take with us.

With it being that close to 10:00, I would just leave the ME tags off and go get them from baggage claim myself.

If you have tohave your bags that night I would take them with you, a porter or skyhop what ever their title can help. Now we had a late flight, almost 9 PM and I kept a carry on with night clothes, two days change of clothes and cosmetics for the night. I was surprised that the suitcases from ME were in our room by 11PM when we came back from a quick meal.

Why not call ME, and ask if that is too clost to the time, and would they say the luggage could be stuck at the airport overnight, you certainly would not want that. I think at a 10 PM flight ME will be grabbing them, unless your flight as you say is delayed.

I often wondered if they had cases with tags, the difficulty to locate at night like that, and security. Our friends came in 3 am, but stayed at the airport overnight and then ME in the morning to resorts.
When you have a response, can you repost so we know what happens.

I am curious about this too. My flight arrives at 9:50. Also what if I have the tags on the suitcase and my flight is delayed after I have checked them at the airport. :confused3 If you find out can you please post.

Here's the issue. If your flight is at all late in arriving, then DME won't get your bags, which means that you may have to face the evening without the things you need.
If I have a flight that arrives into MCO at any time after 8:30pm, I am not going to tag those bags. I am going to go to baggage claim and get them myself. I don't want to take the chance of a late arrival, nor do I want to be sitting up, waiting for the bags to finally get to my resort room that late.

First, anything you NEED should be in your carryon. What if the airline "misdirects" the luggage?

I thought you could ask bell services to hold your bags until you call for them the next morning. :confused3

Absolutely have the appropriate stuff in your carryon. I forget that many still don't 'get' that concept.
And yes, you can tell Bell Services to hold your bags, but for me...one of the things about getting my bags is that I can get settled that night. I don't have to wait until the next morning. For me, it's just easier to just get my own bags if arriving later in the evening. Others will, obviously, disagree. But, if you arrive at, say, 8:45, ontime, then your bags aren't going to get to the resort until around midnight..maybe sooner, but not usually. Just easier to take the addlt 20 mins at baggage claim and get them then.

We arrived at 9:40 pm once and had ME bring the bags. They didn't arrive till almost 3 am. Unless you don't care about seeing them I would grab the bags yourself.

We were supposed to arrive around 10 once, but our flight was delayed due to thunderstorms in FL. We arrived about 11:30 and there were a lot of bags with yellow DME tags just going around and around on the belt and quite a few that had just fallen off and were just sitting on the floor. It was like a DME suitcase graveyard. With a flight that close to 10pm, I wouldn't take the chance. JMO

It can be an issue when you have small children, stollers, car seat, handicap person and the luggage is three bags and three carryon's,

Disembarking you go along with that car seat, the stroller, the handicap person and their mobility device, you try to use the $4 tiny cart to "GRAB" the bags, watch the kids, and not stress yourself already just arriving to start the vacation.

I never had any problems getting luggage, the trip 2 weeks ago as I said was an 8:15PM arrival and by the time we ate, the luggage was in our room. I was not expecting it until morning.

We did still have the stroller, the car seat, the 3 carry on's, disabled person equipment, causing enough stress to make sure everyone was settled okay
.OH, and the one luggage, bedding/temperdic mattress topper in the suitcase we drug in case the items were not there until morning.

I have no clue how we would have managed with the additional luggage and not had a melt down.
Maybe traveling 2 people and packing light is not an issue to grab it.

I can well understand the issues here...especially when traveling with such a group. BUT....if you know that you may not be able to use the luggage delivery perk of DME due to a later arriving flight, it may behoove you to book an earlier flight. Yes, it is so much easier to travel when you don't have to worry about your luggage, but that isn't always going to be possible. So, one needs to keep all these things in mind when booking.
I don't mean to sound snarky, but probably will, and I apologize in advance. BUT.....if you have done your homework, for your WDW vacation, and you realize that you can't get luggage moved if you arrive that late, so have to go to baggage claim yourself, then you can make alternative plans. Maybe ship bags down if an earlier flight isn't possible. But, there is no way that DME is going to work perfectly for 100% of the guests, 100% of the time.
