OKW price

Hello all! Sorry to post a question about this, but I'm having a really hard time figuring out an offer price. I noticed most 100 point OKW contracts (without banked or borrowed points) go for about $55....yet almost all the listings I look at are between $75-90. I'm considering a 100 point contract that has 30 '12 points left, no banked or borrowed, and a February use year. Would $50 be a reasonable offer per point??? I know that's a huge difference from what most are listed for, but I just don't think much more than that would be worth it. This particular seller wants $65. Thanks in advance! ;)

Your offer should be based on a couple of factors including; 1) What you can afford, 2) Whether the contract has current or banked points available, 3) Who is paying current maintenance fees, 4) Size of the contract (lower point totals= more expensive per point, higher point totals= less $$ per point, 5) How comfortable you are at hearing "no thanks" if your offer low.

$50 per point seems reasonable to me. If someone says "no", raise your offer or move on to the next contract.

Looking at the ROFR thread, you will notice that Disney has been picking up OKW Feb use years. Might be worth paying a little more if it's the right contract for you and not chance Disney buying it from under you.

You are missing 70 points from 2012 so I think your offer of $50 is reasonable. Good luck. I have been hoping to grab a $50 p/p contract myself.

thanks everyone for your help! i looked at the old key west contracts that were refused, and they were indeed mostly February use years. I had no idea that Disney buys back contracts based on use years...why February at the OKW? And do they differ from one resort to another?? I thought I had a good understanding of pricing, but now I'm getting nervous about the use year stuff!

You may want to check the end date on the contracts, too. Some expire 2042 and some expire 2057.

Just got my notice today that Disney executed ROFR on the contract we were trying to buy. 210 points and agreed to 50/PP buy price. February use year :sad1:

Was hoping for a trip in June but now back onto the road of finding a contract.

For what it matters to anyone I was dealing with Rachel and found her pleasant, informative, and no issues with her or company.

Thanks
Jason

Sorry about your contract :( I was considering okw because most of the contracts were going for such great prices. It seems that lately Disney has been buying back more okw contracts than before though.

I just purchased 100 points OKW exp. 2042 for $60 pp. However, I received all unused 100 points from 2011 so was willing to pay the higher price.

What use year, tb1972? Has this passed ROFR or are you just starting the process?

Ugh... waiting to hear back on the contract we submitted for ROFL - 320 pts at $54/pt with a (shudder) Feb use year.

Why would they want to buy back the Feb use years?

This wait is brutal... I am checking my email from my phone every hour...

Maybe your contract is large enough Disney will pass.

Here's my thought on why Disney is picking up Feb use years: DH and I buy at BLT when sales opened. February use year is the one they are selling. Feb use year is a very high percentage of the points sold for BLT.

A year later, we go over to OKW for a quick stay to check it out. We fall in love and want a small contract to be able to get HH category with home resort priority. I call our guide who says she has to sell me Feb use year since that is what I have.

Thoughts? JMHO that there are other BLT owners with Feb use years that say "why should I use my expensive BLT points to stay at OKW when I can pick up a small contract at half the cost?"

Good luck and please post to the ROFR thread. I'll be very anxious to see if your contract goes through.

Dec use year and it passed - signed contract today. I wasn't crazy about Dec at first but decided to proceed. Good luck!
