Hi gals!
So I hadn't planning on doing a PJ because I didn't think anyone would really read them, but I have really enjoying seeing, reading and following along with everyone else, that I thought maybe it was time to make one of my own.
Apparently I can't post pictures yet because I don't have enough posts, so I'll have to post them later when I can. Sorry.

EDIT: I can now post pics! yay!

I suppose I should start with an introduction:

My name is Kathryn, but I go by Kate. My FI's name is Charles, and he goes by, well, Charles.
We're both 33 and a little late to this wedding thing. As my mom says, "what took you so long?" Well, Mom, I was waiting for my Prince Charming, or my Prince Charles as the case may be!

We are both airline pilots living and working in Atlanta, GA. This Disney wedding was actually his idea! Yup, girls, that's right, HIS idea. The last time I was at Disney I was 3, the year Epcot opened. (Since I already gave my age, I suppose dating myself here doesn't really matter! hehe)

The proposal:

As I've said, I hadn't been to Disney since 1982. Charles wanted to take me there to see the park and ride the rides. He wanted to re-introduce me to Disney because he loves it there so much. He also had something special planned, but I didn't know that yet!!

At dinner I started to get a little suspicious when he was acting weird, but didn't think too much about it. I had told Charles that I wanted to be surprised about my ring, that he would have to pick it out, get it sized, and ask my parents all without my knowing! By the time we went on this Disney trip, there was no way (in my mind) he could have gotten everything ordered, sized and asked. It was just not possible.

The sun went down over Disney and the castle lights came up. Charles wanted some pictures and took me to a special spot. He told the photographers what he was about to do and to take lots of pictures. Of course I'm oblivious.

I turned to pose for the pictures and Charles said, "You know I love you." Unaware of what was coming, I turned toward him and said, "Uh huh, I love you too," then promptly turned back to the camera, smiled, and said, "Cheeeeeeeeese!" I was expecting these pictures to be taken. Charles grabbed me by the shoulders and turned me back toward him and said "No, I have something to ask you."

Then he got down on a knee (which made him about eye level with me, he's 6'5" and I'm 5'0") and he said, "Kate, will you Marry me?"

I screamed and with the parade about to start there were lots of people wanting to know what was going on! Is she ok? I didn't say anything at first, but I grabbed Charles almost suffocating him while he was still holding the ring! And finally said, "Yes!'

He put the ring on which fit PERFECTLY, and everyone watching clapped!

The photographers took lots of pictures! The cast members even announced the engagement to all the people on the next ride which was Splash Mountain!

It was the perfect proposal!

We then celebrated with dinner the next night at The California Grill complete with views of the Magic Kingdom, a perfect sunset, an amazing dinner, fireworks, and a champagne toast!

Thanks!! I am partial to them too. I just LOVED what he picked out. Its not that I didn't trust him to get it "right", but I was so excited when I saw it. It was just perfect for me! And I've got my something blue covered! heheh

What items have you chosen for your tasting session (which is the most important part!!)?

I will post next about our planned tasting menu just for you! I'm so excited (and nervous) to try some of these things. I can't wait for our PS in two weeks!

HI and thanks! We're planning to have our ceremony at 5pm at the wedding pavilion, and then pre-reception and reception at the Grand Floridian. Of course as you all know Disney can change anything at any time, so we'll see how it all plays out! That's the plan for now!
Btw, I just found your PJ and I absolutely LOVE your story. Congratulations on 10 years and on your Disney VR. TOO COOL!!!!

We are gearing up for our planning session on 03/27! I can't believe it just its only about 2 weeks away!!!
I've spent the last couple days in a frenzy trying to get all the planning kits done. I've picked out music, menu, flowers, even the order in which the bridesmaids will stand.
(all this with a busted swollen lip because in the gym, I had an unfortunate encounter with a medicine ball.... or should I say the medicine ball had an unfortunate encounter with my face?!)

Anyway, (as requested! ) here is the menu we are planning to taste during our PS:

- crab cakes with Mustard Chives
- Brie and strawberry Crostini with Balsamic Honey Syrup
- Vegetable Spring Roll with Sweet Chile Sauce
- Bacon Crusted beef and Blue Cheese with Balsamic Sun Dried Tomato pesto
- Seared Beef Filet with Red wine Demi
- Pan Roasted Chicken with Red Orange Shallot
- Mahi-Mahi with variety of optional sauces
- Wasabi Whipped Potatoes

All at 9:30 in the morning! Least we won't have to have breakfast OR Lunch! They said to pick things that we were unsure about. Wasabi Potatoes? Yeah, I'm unsure about those, but they come with the salmon which we might pick as an option so I figured they were important to try. I've never been so excited to gain 5 pounds! Take THAT medicine ball!

Music:
There are only two things I'm absolutely sure of:
1. I want my recessional to be "Ode to Joy"
2. I DO NOT want to walk down the aisle to Wagners "Bridal March"

I hope Disney can help me with the rest!
Charles wants to enter the WP to the Throne Room Entrance from Star Wars. (Which he refuses to call the Rebel Alliance theme for some odd reason.) I'm totally not opposed, I think its kind of a cool idea actually.

Flowers:
I'm not really big on flowers. I don't like the way they shrivel up and die and then you have to go through the process of throwing them away. But in that process they never fit in the trash bag quite right and you wind up getting dead petals all over the floor. They always seem to be more hassle than they're worth. Plus, they seem like a waste to me. So my goal is less flowers, more candles. We'll see if Disney likes my idea!

We're also going to be meeting with a potential photographer while we're down there. Concept Photography. I REFUSE to use Disney Photography. Big Sob story there that has YET to be resolved from this past AUGUST!
I give them and F-! (Which will go in my official reviews after this is all over!)

All this planning is making me actually believe this is really happening! I'm really going to get married at Disney! p:

Your menu sounds DELICIOUS!! Can't wait for a full report when you get back complete with pictures of course

We had pan seared beef with marsala sauce and it was so good! Actually ALL the food we had at ours was delicious! The yukon gold mashed potatoes were so good, I actually asked the chef if there was crack in them He said 'actually here we just call it pixie dust'.....

All the stuff you are trying sounds great!! You said you are trying those potatoes because they come with the Salmon- you can change out anything you want! You can choose any starch, any vegetable etc you want to put on the plate. Don't feel like you have to have what the menu says! You definitely won't need to eat breakfast or lunch, and still probably a late night dinner!

Do you have an idea of colors or any types of flowers you want for your bouqet and bouts? Gerbera daisies (esp dark colors in the fall if thats what youre going for) are pretty and inexpesive as far as I know. I wanted lots of candlelight too, and we are restricted to a certain amount per table (I think we're allowed 8 per table on our roman tables of 20 people each). You can bring in or have as many flickering fake candles as you want!

Good luck meeting your potential photographer! Not sure if you saw, but one of the Disney photographers is going on her own, I believe around Sept/October and all the girls who have her rave about her. Maybe try meeting with her as well? There is a thread about her in the general section- Regina. We are bringing our photographer with us from CT but Regina seems to be very popular around here!

Thanks!! We're still in the hot debate about plated vs buffet. We figured we'd try some of the food from both packages to see what we like better. Oh, decisions decisions.

I LOVE this about Disney. EVERYONE, even the chef, has the Disney Spirit! This just makes me that much more excited. (Which is strange for me since its DF that is the Disney fan. I think I'm becoming a convert!)

I really am a flower dummy. I know what a rose is, does that count? For everything else there's Google! I heard about that same restriction on the number of candles per table. I'm ok with replacing some of the "open flames" with the fakies. I think it'll have the same effect. I'll post about my colors and flower ideas in my next post for you!

I saw that about Regina. I heard she's awesome. I just flat out refuse to go with them again. Part of the reason is I won't know who my photographer is until after they're booked and I can't risk the same experience we had for our engagement session for the amount of money we're spending.

That is so awesome! I'm glad you found me. I just loved Michelle's PJ! She literally saved me $100's! I just hope I can do the same for someone else! She was the reason I started this! You are too sweet to say that about my ring! Thank you!!! I can't take any credit for it tho, it was all Charles idea! Sapphires are my favorite because they mean "pure" and so does "Kathryn".
