Edit:We're going to Disney in Feb. 2013 for the Princess Half Marathon:yay:

If you want to skip over the first few pages of wishy washiness- here is the start of Feb. planning.

I will also try to update my chapter links so you can skip all of the Sept/Dec plans that got switched a million time
Official Feb PTR start

I know, I know… starting a pre-trip report 20 months before the trip? Crazy, right? As you can see from my title though- No ticker and no planning make me GO CRAZY!!!!

I know Homer isn’t Disney, but this scene from the Simpsons seems to express how I feel when I have no trips to plan.

My name is Diane and I am 29 years old. (Although I will be hitting the big 30 in a few short months)
CaitlinsDisneyDreamPictures014.jpg

My DH is John and he will be turning 31 next week. We have been married for 10 years.
CaitlinsDisneyDreamPictures013.jpg

Our daughter is Caitlin and she is 7. I’ll probably do more detailed intros later, after all- I have 20 months to kill here.
DisneyMay2011onSony294.jpg

I have been lucky enough to have been to Disney 10 times (I think). DH has been 6 times, 5 of which have been with me. Caitlin has been 3 times. On our last trip in Oct., DH only agreed to go if I promised not to make him go back for 3 years. Of course, during the trip he stated he isn’t going back for 5, 10 years, maybe never. However the original agreement was 3 years so I'm running with that and that brings DH to 2014 before another trip. Whatever, that doesn’t mean Caitlin and I have to wait. I also promised that would let him choose our vacation destination for 2012, which means no Disney that year.

Which brings us to 2013. I have always wanted to see Disney during the Christmas season. I know that DH will not appreciate the holiday magic at Disney so it will be the perfect time for a mother/daughter trip.

I have also taken up running (okay, really slow jogging) and recently started to run in local 5ks. I really want to run in the Princess Half Marathon but am not sure if that will happen in 2013 or 2014. I’ll get into that later.

DH has given his 3 year leave of absence, which brings us to 2014. I have told Caitliln that we could go to Disney for her 10th birthday (last time paying child’s price is a good excuse for a Disney trip, right) Her 10th birthday will be Oct. 2014 which will be a family trip this time. I am hoping to get AP’s on our Nov/Dec. 2013 trip which will also let us go back to Disney in Feb. 2014 and Oct. 2014. Have I lost anyone yet?

There is one big variable in all of these trips that might change everything around. We are really hoping to add to our family this year so when and if I become pregnant that will have a big impact on the dates.

As of right now I am hoping to be pregnant within the next few months and my dates all work around that.

Trip #1- mother/daughter trip
Dec 2013- Hopefully 4 nights. Just enough time to check out all Disney has to offer during the holiday season. Xmas party, Osbourne lights, decorations, etc. Right now I say that it will remain a mother/daughter trip whether or not we have another child. That could change, not sure I would want to leave one kid behind.

Trip #2
February 2014
Princess Half Marathon- This trip is the most up in the air. If I get pregnant soon then this will be perfect. Who goes with me is undetermined. I asked me sister (nermel9 on the boards) to train with me and she agreed. If I take a trip with her Caitlin and any other children who might be around by then will have to come. But if we both in the race who will watch the kid(s)? Grandma, that’s who. I mentioned it to my mother and she would like to come but she is not in good health and two years is a long way away.

Nermel9- who might make an appearance on one of the trips

Here is a picture of me during my first 5k in Dec. I look like I am about to die. But that little blue strip is the finish line and I didn't walk once:banana: I just did another on Sunday but the pictures aren't up yet. I am hoping that by training for a half marathon I can get faster in the 5ks and not look like I am dying. I also need to start smiling and waving to the cameras. I usually look down or away:confused3

If my sister does not train there is the possiblilty of her just doing the 5k (there is usually a 5k the day before the princess, right?) and doing the half marathon myself. That way she can just watch the kids and grandma doesn’t have to come.

DS might not be making any trips to Disney in 2014 (although I find that hard to believe) so that either leaves a solo trip or bringing along DH. I think I would lean towards solo. DH and crowds don’t mix well, so I don’t really want to bring him to Disney during President’s week. However if he does come it will be a short weekend trip with maybe a 3 or 4 night cruise mixed in.

Trip #3
October 2014
This trip is almost certain as our next full family Disney trip. It will be more of a FL trip than Disney. Half at Universal/ half Disney. A day at Discovery Cove. If for some reason we have not had another child by then this might turn into a cruise on the Freedom of the Seas instead. We loved our DCL cruise last year but DH will not take an infant on a cruise for a week.

Last one- I have decided not to put too much stress on when/if I become pregnant so I am hoping to train for a local half marathon that takes place in Sept. If I become pregnant before then, awesome. If not, at least I’ll be in shape to do a half marathon. I will also push up the Princess Half to Feb. 2013.Honestly though, I am really hoping it will have to be 2014.

I didn't know you started this! :thumbsup2

I'd like to do the half marathon in 2013, but of course, there's always the small possibility of me having a baby by then (or close to that time anyway) or being in school, but who knows, either way, I'm doing 2014. :thumbsup2 I gotta get a treadmill, I was just looking at some at the mall the other day. I might just start running outside for now, since it's getting a little warmer out. I really want to do the Royal Family 5K more than anything next year. Even if I go alone for a weekend. I really want to run through Epcot. I thought of doing the new 5K for the Tower of Terror weekend in September this year, but the course is at the World of Sports complex, that's so ridiculous. I thought it would be in DHS. :( I want to do the 10 mile race SO bad. I wish I could run 10 miles by September. It's too bad we couldn't just go that weekend this year and do that race.

I wouldn't count on Grandma coming ever...it just doesn't seem like it will happen. :confused3

Oh yeah, you can leave your baby with me if you want to go on a cruise in 2014! :)

Following along! My DH isn't a fan of Disney either. Everytime we go I hear " this the last time for a long time.." he does enjoy himself when he goes though.

Good luck with the marathons and babies!!

I just saw an add in Runner's World magazine for the 10miler. It looks so cool.

I wish I do all the Disney runs. Once I get my AP it will be hard not to slip away for a weekend to do the 5ks.

I told Caitlin to keep bugging Grandma to go for walks to get in shape for Disney. She just says yeah, yeah and that it is two years away. :confused3 I know she probably won't be able to go, but it would be nice since it would be probably be her one last trip to Disney.

I'm sure Brandon wouldn't be happy watching a baby for a week:laughing:

DH always seem to enjoy parts of our vacation, but then throws in that he doesn't want to go back again.:confused3 I give up and will just plan our trips anyway. I'll ask him if he wants to go and if he doesn't, oh well, at least I save some money:thumbsup2

I am heading over to caught up on your PTR.:surfweb:

I'm joining in! I must've been hiding under a rock for awhile, because I had no idea you Nermel9 had a sister on the boards.:confused3 (Talk about oblivious:laughing:)

It always stinks to have to wait a long time for another WDW trip, but I think it's great that you're thinkig about the Princess Half and a mother/daughter trip. Both sound like so much fun. I can't wait to follow along with your plans!

I love how you have three trips in various stages of planning so far! Something does seem "off" if there isn't at least one vacation on the horizon.

I took up running last year so that I could run in the Wine & Dine Half Marathon (needed an excuse to "deserve" to spend the money to go to MNSSHP). It was so much easier than I thought it would be with all the on-course entertainment, cheering people and camaraderie with other runners. If you're thinking about it, I can't encourage you enough - I can't wait to run another Disney race myself! :cheer2:

Yeah ...... another pre-trip report I HAVE to be in on!

Now going back to read ... I just wanted to make page 1 :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

Well I'm joining in of course! We the Disney-deprived need to stick together! :rotfl:
I 100% understand the feeling that if there's no ticker and no PTR, I would go crazy.
I'm also glad to be following another runner! More motivation! Today I'm on my second week of my modified C25K so I'm hoping to see some improvement in my lung capacity.
Subbing now, I'm along for the long haul! :surfweb:

:welcome: Thanks for joining in.

 For awhile I would avoid threads and TR's that my sister posted on. It always seemed strange to me that I saw her online but didn't talk to her that day. I would mentioned something from her TR to my DH and he would ask when I talked to her. What do you mean, talk to her? It was on her trip report:rotfl:

It does stink that I have to wait so long but I am hoping it is for a good reason. If I do get to go back sooner it will mean that I haven't gotten pregnant in 2012 and that will make me even sadder than no Disney for a year:sad2:

:laughing:I first started the C25K so that I could use the Princess Half as an excuse to get to Disney.

I am glad to hear about the half marathon being easier with the cheering and entertainment. I was really thinking about doing my first one in CT, but I really think I need the extra Disney touches to push me through.

I would love to do all of the Disney races but DH doesn't think that running a 5k is a good enough reason to go to Disney:confused3 I am hoping to do at least one whenever I finally get an AP.

Yeah ...... another pre-trip report I HAVE to be in on!

:welcome:
You know, I was just thinking about you:thumbsup2 I was reading on of your many reports and you showed a bottle of diet coke. I :lovestruc diet coke and usually drink it a few times a day. Last week I decided to stop drinking it:faint: I don't even know why, I think I was reading on of those articles on how they make you eat more junk food or something but I finally decided to give it up.(except when eating out or when working an overnight) I had the worst headaches and was so nasty the first few days:mad: I knew if anyone could understand my missing diet coke, it would be you:goodvibes

I don't think you have to worry about making it on page one:laughing:

We definitely need to stick together:thumbsup2

Good luck with the C25K. I am amazed I made it through. Before this year I NEVER ran. I would always fake being sick in gym class when we had to run. I HATED it!!!

I thought I would do a little running update. Even though I am not sure if a half marathon is going to be in the cards this fall, I am going to just train as though it will be happening. There is a half marathon in CT taking place Sept. 3 that I was thinking about doing, but if I am ready for a half marathon and not pregnant I might just beg DH to let me do a solo weekend for the Food and Wine Half 2012 or the Princess in 2013.
I printed out Jeff Galloway’s Half Marathon training program and will use it as a guide. Since I am not 100% sure when or if a half marathon will happen, it will mostly be a guide for the next two/three months until I am more sure of when a half will take place.

Last week I finally went to an actual running store to get some new sneakers. I was hesitant to spend over $100 on sneakers if I wasn’t sure if I would keep up with running. I am hoping that it has become a part of my routine so I finally gave in and got some decent shoes. The man sized my foot and had me walk back and forth a few times to see how my feet turned. He gave me two selections and I ended up with
shoes.png

I have used them twice for runs about 3 miles and there really is a difference when you have good support. I used to be able to feel each time I landed on my foot, but not anymore. I don’t know why I waited so long. Cheap, I guess.

I am hoping to get in 3 runs a week.

Last week I managed 3 although 1 was pretty short.
Sunday- Local 5K- time 37:09

Tuesday- tried going out but quit after 1 mile. I had a huge headache and it just got worse as I ran plus I was still sore from Sunday. I really need to remember to stretch at 5ks. I usually get caught up in the people and atmosphere that I ignore stretching that I normally do at home

Thursday- long runI am going to use the run/walk method and try to increase my distance a little 1 day each week while sticking with two 3miles runs the other two days.
I thought I was running about 3.5 miles but once I got home it turned out my route was actually 3.9 miles. Oops.

With warm up and cool down-
3.9miles/50min 45sec (pace 13)

Friday – I was hoping to get in another 3 miles but DH was home from work sick. I went for a quick 2 miles but didn’t time or track it

Today- I decided to do a little test. When I do a 5k event , I don’t do a warm up or cool down. When I jog the 3.1 course I mapped out around my neighborhood, I walk 5 to warm up and 5 to cool down. Today I added an extra street to warm up so that the warm up didn’t slow down my time.

Time of 3.1 miles- 38.30 (pace 12.21)
Total with warm up- 3.46miles 43.30 (pace12.34)

Overall the warm up really doesn’t change my time too much so from now on I’ll just stick to the 3.1 miles. That extra .3miles was tough.

I would really like to get faster, but I guess that comes in time.

Speaking of Disney runs-

There is a 5k coming up at Disney in May that EVERYONE seem to be doing except me.

Whlle everyone else is in Disney there is also another interesting 5k taking place in MA. I saw the link posted in Tim’s (that’s nice) PTR and mentioned it to DH.

It is a zombie filled obstacle course. We watch the Walking Dead together every Sunday night so this seemed like something DH might like.

I will not spoil last night’s episode for any who have not seen it, but I will say that it made me very sad.:sad2::sad1::sad2:
shane.jpg

The 5k run/obstacle course is called Run for your lives.

Here is a link to the video if anyone is interested. There are a couple more around the country.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4XvnVz9qDQ

DH asked his brother to run it with him, but he can’t make it. I was planning on just watching but am now thinking of maybe doing it? I’ll admit it- I’m scared. Not of the zombies or the run. It’s the obstacles that I’m afraid of. I hate running with sweaty feet, I can’t imagine running through water and not being miserable. Right now the race is about 70% full and the price jumps to join after March 21. I am going to try to make up my mind this week.

I think if I go into it thinking it is just for fun, take my time, fully know that I will be a zombie at the end (your wear flags like in touch football. If you have any left you survived, if the zombies grab your flags you are listed as turning into a zombie on the results)maybe it could be fun. I am always asking DH for some alone, adult time. Although I don’t think this is what I had in mind.

What do you think? Should I do it?

(this was a finish line- notice you have to get under the fence. In the video, people ran and slid under. Ew, mud. I hate getting dirty. I would probably try to duck under just like this)

A nice swim through a blood pool. Ew.

Haha, I used to avoid TR's that you were subbed to also! Then I thought, who cares? :rotfl2: I'll tell everyone on my PTR to sub to yours if you want!

Where did you get those running sneakers? Whenever I start, I need to get a good pair, my feet were killing me last year when I started the Couch to 5K. I was thinking of starting this week and just running outside, since the treadmill thing obviously isn't happening very soon, and it's nice out. Although, my left leg just started randomly hurting me last night. Probably a blood clot. :confused3

I told Brandon I want to do the Royal Family 5K next year, and he told me I'm insane and I'm going alone. Fine with me, I was just warning him. I told him I don't want to go for a week or anything, just go to run the 5K and go home and he said that it's stupid. :sad2: Whatever, I'll just go alone. I mean, if I'm going to go all the way to Florida for that, I'd much rather do the Princess half, but I don't think I'll be ready by next Feb. We'll see.

I can't believe you're considering doing that zombie thing! I would never, but I don't like zombies. I'd consider it if it were vampires. I don't get everyone's fascination with zombies. :lmao:

I was thinking if I start the Couch to 5K this week and really push myself for the next 8 weeks til my trip, I might just go the EE challenge. Except I'd have to do it alone, because if Brandon tried it, he'd probably die. So we'll see!

It is a zombie filled obstacle course.

This just became my favorite PTR ever! Someone else who's actually considering a Run For Your Lives run! I didn't know that they had decided to hold more of them outside of wherever it is that it started on the east coast - that's so exciting; I'll have to check to see if there's anything nearish to me. I'll say it again: distraction makes running easier - be it cheering crowds and Disney entertainment or zombies and freakish-looking clowns.

Here's the closest I could get to a zombie smilie: :crazy2:

And your times are great... you only need a 16 minute mile to keep from being swept.

Oh my gosh, a zombie run!? That looks so amazing and halarious! I imagine the obstacles would be tougher than any other run, but still. So fun.

Run For Your Lives looks pretty epic! Although, I'd be in the same boat as you; I'm not a fan of getting filthy and crawling under fences.:rotfl: My DH is a big zombie fan and he's mentioned how cool these races are.
You'll have to keep us in the loop and let us know if you decide to do it.

I know what you mean about good shoes. I broke down and bought an expensive pair a few months ago. Up until then I swore I would not spend 100+ dollars on a pair of shoes I was going to work out in, but I can feel the difference now. Are your shoes Asics?

You should totally sign up for EE challenge when you go. I was only on like Week 6 when I did the first 5k in Dec. I had such a hard time getting past the 20 minute run. First of all there is no reason you can't walk when you need to and second the whole experience pushes you through. People cheering on the sidelines, people running or walking all around you. Just do it.

I don't really care for zombies one way or the other. It just seems like something that I would never, ever sign up to do. I guess I feel like talking a step outside of my comfort zone for some reason.

I sent you the name of the running store. I would say I would go with you but I will most likely be easier for you to go after work. It is owned by a couple and they are very nice and helpful. I just told the guy I have no idea what I need and that I would take all the help I could get.

I really need to sign up soon before I change my mind. I am so none athletic that the thought of climbing a rope ladder or going over hurdles terrifies me. I have a feeling that if I see DH doing it I might regret not giving it a try. What's the worst that can happen, you know, besides finishing with no flags, covered in mud and turning into a zombie

Oh my gosh, a zombie run!? That looks so amazing and halarious! I imagine the obstacles would be tougher than any other run, but still. So fun.

The obstacles scare me:eek: I could care less about getting chased by zombies, it's the obstacles that make me not want to do it. Especially since there is no way to really try for them. I just need to go into it with a good attitude and I think it could be fun. We'll see.

I am really considering doing it. I think I am going to sign up this weekend once I get paid.

They are Asics. I can't believe the difference. I feel like I am landing completely different and I haven't been as sore when done running. I still feel a bit sore when I do the longer runs but don't feel it until the end. I wish I had just listened to everyone and gotten better sneakers when I started but I wasn't really sure I would really be committed to running and didn't want to waste over $100 either.

You post totally reminded me that I never commented on your PTR even though I read it the other day. :headache: Don't worry, I corrected that:thumbsup2
