Let's be Spontaneous!January '12- Sunrise Breakfast and EMH! 2 part update(3/11)

The alarm went off early the next morning! We had Extra Magic Hours to catch at Animal Kingdom! We both got ready fairly quickly, and had our breakfast on the balcony!

My chocolate chip muffin was so yummy! The only way it could have been better was if I had heated it with some butter, but I didn’t think to grab butter the night before! I had filled my mug with lemonade, and stuck it in the fridge, so I had had that to wash it down!

Josh had filled his mug with Coke Zero, and got a huge coffee cake. Josh would recommend the coffee cake, said that it was good sized, and awesome tasting.

It was a little cold sitting out there, but this was our reward.

We decided that we had time to stop and see the flamingos on our way out! This photo was taken at 7:19, so we were running really early!

With the sun rising!

We headed to the bus stop, I knew that we were doing perfect on time, because Animal Kingdom is only 5 minutes from the lodge!
At the bus stop, Josh took a photo of the vending machines.

IMG_6046.jpg

We met the nicest ladies on the bus who are also pin traders, and talked the whole way there about how we spend all this time and money on pins, but when we get home, they go into a book, and get put away.

A very short bus ride later, and we were there!

This beautiful tree was still standing!

IMG_6048.jpg

I was trying to so hard to get a good photo of the tree, and a nice security guard showed me exactly where to stand, and BAM I got the perfect picture!

There was a Photo Pass person on the other side of the tree, so of course we got a photo!

We then headed in right through the gates! I was a bit surprised because it wasn’t quite time for Extra Magic Hours, but my confusion what cleared up when I saw that they were holding us all once we got over the bridge. There was a young guy amping everyone up, having people cheer based on the ride they were dashing for!

This is a photo of the crowd, sorry you can’t see much, I am short!!

IMG_6051.jpg

He asked who was headed for Mt. Everest, I got confused and cheered. :upsidedow We were in fact headed to the Safari fist thing!

Before we knew it, they were letting us into the park, and off to the Safari we went!

The line was moving so fast I was in shock! I had heard that they wait to run the first trucks some mornings, but I guess this wasn’t one of them!

IMG_6052.jpg

We were quickly settled into a truck, and off we went!

Continued in next post due to too many photos!!!

I have a ton of photos from this trip through to share. It was the THE most exciting and interesting trip we have ever taken through! There were animals everywhere and boy were they active!!!

Because we were out so early, we saw people out taking care of the animals!

This is where things started to get crazy! I felt bad for our poor driver! The animals in the big open field area were chasing each other all over the place, it was nuts! They kept jumping in and out of the road, and were just generally going crazy!

Once we got out of that area our poor driver relaxed a little, and we continued to see amazing animals!

By some miracle we chased away the poachers, and saved Little Red! From what I have been reading though, this might be the last trip that Josh and I will have a chance to save him on though!!!

thats the one thing i loved about going in january and feb last year, the weather is so cool more animals are out to see! to this day my little guy still remembers the color of the giraffe tongue and says it each trip.

one of our guides in january i swear to god i saw her texting and driving. thank goodness the weather was wamer that day cus if the animals had been out like that she surely would of hit one!

Mmm, chocolate chip muffins. What do you do with the butter and heating it up (I know I'm probably making this way complicated in my head, but I've never heard of that method!)?

So many flamingos! They're penned it, right? My boyfriend HATES flamingos so if he finds out there's a huge flock running wild, I don't think I'll ever get to stay in AKL! :rotfl:

Being a Disney zookeeper has to be one of the best jobs. I'd love to get that close to the animals on a regular basis!

It must have been fun watching all the animals run around on the safari. You got some really good pictures of the animals.

Love your sweatshirt!! There was a little gift shop downstairs in the Polynesian... (OHANA'S YUM!) anyway, I was able to find a sweatshirt there that I hadn't seen anywhere else. We spent quite a bit of time in MANY different gift shops, so I was surprised to find the best sweatshirt there.

Thanks for the info on the lines. I would have felt bad too, but I completely agree that if they had read the sign it wouldn't have been an issue.

We always make a mad dash to Expedition Everest. By the time we make it to the Safari the animals are usually just laying around. Great pictures from your early morning ride.

Wow, that looks like a fun safari. The driver may have had a hard time getting through, but it would definitely be interesting to see the animals out running and being active.

I can't say that I would be too sad if that story line disappeared.:rolleyes1

Hi. Just wanted to say I stumbled on your TR by way of your Dining Reviews from last year! Enjoying both and will be back!!

:scared1: Texting while driving in that area is scary!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love that your little one still talks about it, it's the small things!

Stick the muffin in the microwave, cut if half, smother on some butter... OMG it is amazing..

The Flamingos are penned :lmao: He will be fine! However I must say I love flamingos, so he is silly!!!

It was really fun! I love trying to take photos of animals, most of them end up really blurry though!

Glad you found a sweatshirt that you liked! I love to buy fun things like that when we are down there. I am wearing my sweatshirt from my 2010 trip right now (in class)

We ended up over at Everest soon after. We were really lucky with the crowds, and were pretty quick to get through the big attractions

I am hoping that they will revamp the story line, not ditch it all together. I love that you can pretend that you are out in the wild with the animals... kinda. I have heard they are adding more zebras!!!!!

Hi. Just wanted to say I stumbled on your TR by way of your Dining Reviews from last year! Enjoying both and will be back!!

Glad you followed me over!!! I love working on my dining reviews, but I feel like people think I all I do is eat! We do more on vacation than eat, but I sure do like to eat! :lmao:

Oooh, that does sound good! Now I just need to find a microwave...

Haha, I don't know what it is! Apparently, flamingoes run free attacking people in central Florida (or so I've learned from stories of his childhood...)??

my kid has a memory like an elephant i swear! we went to a bday party last weekend and he remembered playing with some of the toys there last yr! im lucky if i can remember and keep ds and dd's names straight....yesterday i was not successful at this. lol

as for the texting thing, i can't be sure, but she was looking down and up an awful lot. we were literally right behind her and she did have something in her lap that looked like a cell but who knows. im a stickler too as its now illegal in ns to use your cell while driving unless you have a hands free set.

Either way, being that distracted with live animals everywhere isn't a good idea. Then again I almost hit a deer coming home the other night, so who am I to talk.
