AGLET – We're Gonna Tour The World Together! Updated 11/9!!!

You got wet on PotC?! Both my sister and I did, too! I forget when exactly that happened because I didn't write it down. I am SO glad it wasn't some freak incident! :rotfl:

Okay, call me crazy, but I swear that when we went through the HM queue that the organ did play music...I think that's even why I have a picture of my hands playing it with both girls playing at the same time:confused3...am I insane??

Love the corny jokes. I cannot believe that I've still never seen any Tiki birds!

I hate flashers! Come to think of it, I am pretty repulsed by BOTH kinds of flashers. There's no such thing as a good flasher!

Wow I was far behind! I have been behind on a bunch of the TR's I have been following.

I have been catching up this evening, but I wanted to jump in and say I am so sorry about your job, I actually just started working about a month ago after being out of work for 10 months. It was so hard to find something in my field which actually was very shocking to me (I am a nurse) Luckily I had Unemployment to keep us going until I got this job (Actually with the same company in a different capacity).

Your meal at Sanaa looked good, My SIL and BIL ate there when they were there in March and liked it too, I would like to try it but DH and I are not real adventurous so it may be a while before we add that one...

So sorry you kept getting lost at the Poly, hopefully that got better.

Crystal Palace is on my list, that Puffed French Toast really looks yummy! I love Pooh and Tigger!

ETA: I finished reading, I love the Haunted Mansion! We didn't do the new queue when we went because it was fairly crowded and also we used the w/c entrance for my MIL and her scooter. I will say that I LOVE the new Hitchiking Ghosts! It was neat for my Dad because he didn't know they had changed them so it was a fun surprise for him.

I love Adventureland. It was a pleasure to read the quick notes on those Magic Kingdom classics to start my morning.
I'd love to be boarding a Jungle Cruise boat this morning.
Or this afternoon.
Or this evening. :goodvibes
Yay for all the folks that get to enjoy that Extra Disney Day today! :cool1:

Finally caught up! I usually love to just read/lurk your reports (you two are soo cute & funny) but I had to comment on the Puffed French Toast...DD hates cinnamon but I always put them on her plate so that I can have them;) I LOVE the zepoles!! We live in Putnam County NY & there is nowhere here to get a good zepole. :sad1: I usually get a bag when visiting relatives in the Bronx or Brooklyn.

Hope your job search is going well.

UGH!!!! I hate people who use the flash when they are CLEARLY told NOT TO!! I feel like smashing their camera on the ground, or throwing it into the Pirates water!

I had a guy in front of me on the Mexico boat ride. Not only was he taking photos non-stop, he stunk. :faint:

OMG I literally burst out laughing when I read that! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: TOO FUNNY!!! (but not funny at all at the same time! :sad2:)

I don't know how I did it, but I missed the tiki room again! DOH!

I cannot understand why people take flash pictures anyway, they NEVER come out looking good and do they just ignore the rules??? BTW, those of us that are professionals would never consider a flash in a dark ride, so you can blame the amateurs who are flashing away, not us!

It's funny, if you're not really looking for it, I think it's pretty easy to miss. It's by a sign labeled "Sunshine Tree Terrace", which sounds more like a place to eat than watch singing birds!

I totally agree! It's like, are you really going to watch the ride frame by frame again when you get home?

I was behind a couple of updates. I'm happy that you were able to take your time and really get a good look at the new queue at the Haunted Mansion. I think that Disney did a great job with it.

:thumbsup2 for stepping it up and getting around the tour group before they entered the line for Jungle Cruise. Jungle Cruise is one of our favorites and a not to be missed even though it's super corny.

What the heck was up with you and Wingnut getting wet on Pirates? That's a first.

I agree, the new queue really does look great!

Jungle Cruise is one of our favorites too! We love that silly corny humor!

It was definitely a first for us!! I'm not sure what happened!

Boo hiss to the Prolific Phlashy Photographer...way to ruin Pirates, dude! Glad to hear the CM at the Tiki Room stopped him.

Way to keep us in suspense...did she find her Beaker hat...or did she not?

I was really happy when she told him to stop!

Sorry, you'll be in suspense for awhile on this one! :rolleyes1

What would anyone need a flash on the jungle cruise during day light? :confused3 It really disturbs me when people have no idea how to use their camera and disable a flash. Really? That camera should have gotten washed away while on the JC.

I am really looking forward to taking my nephews on this ride this summer and I can't wait to make the tarantula jump at them.

I have only seen the Tiki Birds once. Should I break down and see it in June? :rotfl:

I'm sure people do use a flash during the day on JC, but this one was on Pirates! It really is a shame that wave wasn't just a teensy bit bigger...;)

How do you make the tarantula jump at someone??? I foresee a new way to torment Wingnut...:scratchin

Hahaha I always think it's fun, but I think the majority are with Wingnut - once is enough for them for awhile! :rotfl:

Aha - soaked on Pirates? I would have been laughing if it had been me. Odd.

I recently came across some of those knit hats at a store in our mall. I remember thinking - hey, they have those at Disney too! Of course I tried them on, along with the care bear knit hats. Because I am just as young as my daughter.

We were laughing, but it was definitely an unexpected surprise!

Seriously??? You'll see how many stores I visited tracking that thing down...

I had a guy in front of me on the Mexico boat ride. Not only was he taking photos non-stop, he stunk. :faint:

:rotfl: At least he wasn't also talking on his cell phone???

Getting soaked on Pirates, yes! That happened to me too! I thought it was a one time deal because I hadn't read that it happened to anyone else in other TRs and I thought it was just me! Sorry, I got excited there. :flower3:

Biggest pet peeve at WDW, flash photographers. UGH! I was on Pirates with one once, she sat behind me. I asked her once to stop, she didn't. I asked her a 2nd time, she didn't and her friends then told her to stop (btw, she was a grown adult with 2 adult friends.) So the 3rd time, I put my hand up in front of her camera and MADE her stop. I told her that she was ruining the whole ride for everyone. She looked at her friends for help and they just looked at her like "we told you so." I try to stop them if I can and then when I get off the ride, I like to take photos of THEM. Oooh we should start a thread on the DIS. Take photos of flash photographers that ruin your experiences and post them! :rotfl:

I read about that on a few recent TR's too! Maybe it's a new feature they added in??? Or maybe the calibration of the water jets was off for a few weeks?

Oh wow, you are MUCH braver than I am!!! I usually don't even tell them to stop, I just sit there and seethe, all the while wanting to pipe up with a "NO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY!"

first i must ask, hows the job hunt going? :confused3

and second...Yay :cool1: i am all caught up...mindly reading and typing while holding a cranky baby ;)

i have loved all of it, you and wignut had me smilimng and laugjing away from your "lost" moment to the divine puffed french toast and other food tidbits!

the best has to be WN's little juanty hat :rotfl2:

keep it coming

J~

It's coming along...still hunting! :sail:

Thanks!! Hahahaha I love the little "hat" too!

Bravo to yall for avoiding the tour groups (at least at that moment. Ugh, tour groups. :sad2:)

I love the corny jokes too! I just find punny jokes hilarious, even though they're intended to be lame.

RIGHT? What's with the water on Pirates VIOLATING guests these days?

Aw, the Tiki room! I've never done it before, but I'm glad now that I didn't do it when it was the Under New Management version. Yay for the original! It sounds really cute.

Thanks! Hahaha the worst is getting in line RIGHT behind one! :headache:

Hahaha I don't know! But that splash was VERY unexpected!

The original is much better than the Under New Management Iago version! Much less obnoxious! :thumbsup2

Yay for an update !! Boo to flash photography on Pirates !! We have gotten a little wet on Pirates before, but not soaked. Yikes !! We have never done the Tiki birds. Another Disney must do to knock off our list.

Literally, my pocket with my phone and camera was drenched. I was frantically pulling electronics out of my pockets after that!

Oooh yes, the Tiki's are definitely on the Disney Classic Must-Do list!!

I remember your whole Beaker hat dilema! You should've bought it silly!

Love love love The Jungle Cruise, it's so fun! Especially when you have a witty skipper.:thumbsup2 Good move on fast walking past the tour groups. Were they Brazilian by any chance?;) Last Jan. we saw quite a few groups, I thought my retinas were going to be permanently damaged by all those fluorescent t-shirts.

PotC is soooo good! Though I don't recall getting soaked on it! How weird. I know the canons you're talking about but we've never gotten wet.

Oh, the proverbial idiot flasher on dark rides! It's difficult to believe that people cannot understand that bright flash on a dark ride = freaking flash for everyone.:sad2: You mean if I flash my camera then the whole area will light up? Um, yes genius, that's generally how camera flashes work.

And then you got stuck with him again in the Tiki Room?!?! Ugh, bad timing. Maybe he was stalking you and Wingnut? Seeing the Tiki birds is on my list for next trip though! I love all the old school Disney attractions. (When you wrote "Tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room" the song popped into my head! It's on my 4 Parks CD!)

I SO should have! You'll see what happens on this hat quest...

There were SO many different groups around the parks this time, from different countries, lots of organizations actually.

I think it's a new thing! I've read about it happening to a few people lately, it's really weird!

 It really is obnoxious. I wish Disney would enforce the flash photography rules more often! It was so nice when the CM actually stopped him!

I love the Tiki room birds! But isn't the version on 4 Parks the one with Iago? I can't stand that one!

That's a cool waterfall picture. Was that in the preshow to the tiki birds?

Thanks!! Yes, they have a whole little preshow area and little skit.

We went to Tiki room this year as well. I love the singing totem pole :)

Hahaha the totem pole was my favorite too! And the singing flowers! :thumbsup2

So sorry to hear about your job situation. Hopefully your search will be brief and fruitful!

Sounds like you had a wonderful early morning at the MK. There is truly not much better in the world that the MK empty early in the morning (or very late at night :lmao:)

How cool that you got into the HM queue ahead of everyone? We missed it, as we were too eager to get Max on the ride this time around.

...and yes...people who take flash photographs on rides...UGH! Thanks for messing with my ride experience. Its just so consummately inconsiderate.

Thanks!!! :goodvibes

That is so true! I love being there when it's so empty!

It is convenient that they have the option to get straight on the ride. How did Max like the Haunted Mansion? You should definitely check out the new queue on your next trip though!!

They must have done something to Pirates, because I've been reading in lots of TR's about people getting soaked lately! My camera got splashed in October and I was SO freaked out that it was going to break! :scared1:

Ugh, I can't stand people and their flashes on the dark rides! :sad2:

I really need to do the Jungle Cruise. I love corny jokes like that!

I have to say, my camera truly has been through it all (water, sand, various food, being dropped), and it keeps going! I don't worry about it TOO much anymore (I was more worried about my new phone!)

You haven't been on Jungle Cruise?????????? :scared1: Ok. Seriously. You need to go there!!!! It's the best ride ever, especially if you love that kind of humor!!

hello :) I'm all caught up and subbing for the rest! Sounds awesome so far!

Welcome!!! Thank you, glad you're here!! :goodvibes

You got wet on PotC?! Both my sister and I did, too! I forget when exactly that happened because I didn't write it down. I am SO glad it wasn't some freak incident! :rotfl:

Hahaha wasn't it the weirdest thing???? I'm glad it wasn't just us too!

Okay, call me crazy, but I swear that when we went through the HM queue that the organ did play music...I think that's even why I have a picture of my hands playing it with both girls playing at the same time:confused3...am I insane??

I hate flashers! Come to think of it, I am pretty repulsed by BOTH kinds of flashers. There's no such thing as a good flasher!

Did it??? Maybe that was turned off when we were walking through? There was music playing but I definitely remember touching the keys had no affect on the music. That'd be really cool if it did!

You should see the Tiki birds! They're the ultimate in corny humor, but a fun show!

:lmao: Good point!! I'm not a fan of either type of flasher either!

Wow I was far behind! I have been behind on a bunch of the TR's I have been following.

Thanks!! :goodvibes Congratulations on your new job!!

Sanaa really does have items for less adventurous eaters too, it's a really great (and beautiful) restaurant!

Hahaha after the first day, we got much better at the Poly layout!

We loved Crystal Palace!! The puffed French toast was awesome!

Aren't the new Hitchhiking Ghosts fantastic?? I love everything they've done with that ride, they really did make some fabulous updates!

:cool1:

Hahaha so would I! How wonderful would it be to just snap your fingers and be at the Jungle Cruise??

I'm so jealous of everyone there today! That must have been so fun!! :wizard:

Finally caught up! I usually love to just read/lurk your reports (you two are soo cute & funny) but I had to comment on the Puffed French Toast...DD hates cinnamon but I always put them on her plate so that I can have them;) I LOVE the zepoles!! Welcome!!! I'm glad you commented!! :goodvibes

Awww I love zeppoles too!!! We don't have any good ones where we are either, you really can't get things like that outside of the NYC! (Or good cannolis! Or [ducks from the Chicago people :duck:] good pizza!)

Thanks!! :goodvibes

UGH!!!! I hate people who use the flash when they are CLEARLY told NOT TO!! I feel like smashing their camera on the ground, or throwing it into the Pirates water!

OMG I literally burst out laughing when I read that! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: TOO FUNNY!!! (but not funny at all at the same time! :sad2:)

Hahaha same here!! It's SO annoying!

After singing along (probably just me) with those Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki birds, Wingnut and I retraced our path through Frontierland, stopping in the candy store along the way (because, well, just because).

We didn't buy anything there (or take pictures, apparently), and continued on up into Fantasyland.

The wait for Peter Pan's Flight was around 40 minutes or so by now, but we walked right on to "it's a small world".

(Well, phew. ;))

YES. FRONT ROW.

(Julie, I looked and looked for that Chicken Dance sign - I even enlisted Wingnut for help - but alas, could not find it!)

..it's a blurry world after all...

Wingnut and I have a tradition of tossing coins into the water on this ride. He enlisted me with choosing the room we would toss the coins overboard in, and I suggested the Polynesian room, since we were staying at the Poly.

Okay.

We reached the jungle room, and that's when I began seriously doubting that there was a Polynesian room at all, and decided to give the signal to toss the coins here. There was pretty much no logic behind that decision, which was further reinforced when we sailed into the Polynesian room moments later.

Oops. :headache:

(Wingnut decided to not to mock me over this one. Thanks honey.)

As we rounded into the second-to-last room that I can't remember the theme for (carnival? snow?), we encountered what is probably one of Wingnut's top 5 nightmares.

WE'RE TRAPPED. AND ARE NOW GOING EVEN MORE SLOWLY THROUGH THE RIDE THAT HE ONLY TOLERATES JUST FOR ME.

"it's a small, small world..."

We bumped along slowly through the last two scenes (seriously, WHY does this ride get so backed up towards the end???), finally wishing the little international doll ambassadors goodbye.

And adios.

And aloha. (But only the goodbye version, not the hello one again.)

Much to Wingnut's relief, we exited the ride not long after that. Fantasyland was starting to get a bit more crowded, and we joined a large group entering Philharmagic. We just missed the previous show, so we loitered around the quickly-filling waiting area and decided to check my phone for crowds guidance.

I'm fairly new to the smartphone world, but I did become a very quick fan of the crowds and lines apps available (the one I used most frequently was Undercover Tourists'). If you haven't used these before, generally, the parks are ranked between red, yellow, and green, with red being the most crowded and green being the least. They also provide wait times for the rides.

We logged on, and of course, Magic Kingdom was listed as red. While our time in Adventureland had been fairly crowd-free, it was around 11 am now, and more people were starting to arrive. We decided to keep making our way through the MK, since we were already there, and we had a lunch ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern. After lunch we would hop over to Hollywood Studios, which was labelled as green.

The doors to Philharmagic opened soon after, and the theater was completely and entirely full.

This was somewhat new to us. We usually go during crowd-avoiding times of the year, so we've never had the "move all the way to the end of the row" rule very enforced. Not so this time around!

The show was fun and magical as usual (especially for one little girl next to us that tried to reach out for all of the 3D effects with such persistence that Wingnut and I were convinced she was going to grab the woman's head in front of her .). Soon enough, we were back out into the sunshine, and near the area I was very interested to see.

(Note: I know these pictures make me sound like the biggest liar about the crowds that day, but I swear they were there! Just not in that area at the moment!)

Fantasyland Expansion, as of 1/9/12:

The Beast's castle looks super-awesome.

Ohh wow, I think my heart skipped a little beat at the pics of the Beast's castle! I can't wait to see it finished!
Being stuck on iasw is my DH's nightmare too! :lmao: Glad it didn't last too long. Too bad about MK getting crowded.

Hahaha I'm glad you at least got to toss your coins in a room CLOSE TO the Polynesian room. :thumbsup2

Thankfully I've only been stuck on small world once... oddly enough, IN the Polynesian room!

The expansion is going to be amazing. I CANNOT WAIT.

Haha, Brandon hates IASW and only goes on it to make me happy too, so if we got stuck on there, he'd probably dive overboard or something! :rotfl:

That's cute that you guys throw coins in the water, there are SO many in there!

I can't wait for the Fantasyland Expansion to be finished!! Not even because of all the new attractions, but because I'm SO sick of those walls being up! I'm starting to forget what it looked like before!

Do you think they cash in all the coins that are on the water rides? I've heard of people dropping the cremated ashes of friends/relatives on those too :scared1:

Nice update! I'm looking forward to being able to use the lines/crowds app that I just got! For our trip in July we won't have park hoppers and I think everywhere will be generally crowded...but for next year, it will be just the tow of us and we'll have hoppers so I can see it being pretty beneficial!

I can't wait to see Beast's Castle when it's finished! It looks so awesome already!

Do you think they cash in all the coins that are on the water rides? I've heard of people dropping the cremated ashes of friends/relatives on those too :scared1:

I read in one of the guidebooks that they donate some of the money from IASW to various children's charities, and some of the money that is in the fountains and such at AK gets donated to wildlife assistance programs. The rest is used to maintain the parks. Don't know if it's completely true or not, but it would be nice if it was!

Enjoying following along on your report. That was a real nightmare at the end of IASW. That is one thing that gets on my nerves is the waiting to get off a boat ride. It happened to us last time on Splash, Gran Fiesta Tour, IASW, POTC and Living with the Land. I wish they could do something about this!

My thinking is that those rides get backed up sometimes when they have to take a little more time to get someone out and into a wheelchair, or maybe there is an elderly person or maybe a handicapped child that needs a little more time to step out.

I hope they donate the money thrown into the rides and fountains to charity. I would guess that they do.

It's fun to watch the little ones or first-timers in Philharmagic. It has a good gift shop, too.
