Looking for cheapest rental cars from MCO

We got a great deal this past November from dollar rent a car. We had the car for 10 days and only paid around $300 (taxes included and it was a ford crown victorian). We are pricing the same size car for Sept for 8 days and its coming out to around $500. When do they run specials. I know the rental in November was a special

My recommendation is use sites like Mousesavers and price compare. I would book something now on a non-prepaid rate and then keep checking prices. Unlike airfares, most non-prepaid rates can be cancelled, rebooked, etc without penalty. Also, typically, car rentals get much cheaper as you approach the 30 day mark and up to one week prior, but in case they do not, it's better to have at least a reservation.

Try Autoslash.com. They automatically rebook you when rates go down. My rental for april started around $400 when I first booked. (Intermediate car - 8 days) Over the past few months it has steadily dropped and I am now under $200.

I started watching Hotwire rates for this weeks trip in January and cost was way up there. Tried using codes from Mousesaver, Sams club. Things were just really high.
A few weeks ago I saw the crown vic come down to $24 a day, then 2 weeks ago it went to $18. a day Fri. Sat it was $34 a day, but on Sunday, it dropped to $17 a day for nearly every size including the crown vic,. with $70 ish in fees. Total cost 7 days was $197. The smaller cars went down even more, $137 a week, but the fees with the Crown vic went up...I am assuming it was not Alamo any more that the veh was coming from.

That is were ours came from at the end of the purchase. I watched all the Orbitz and sites, Hotwire came up the best deal for next week. The only thing I wish I did different was perhaps take a wild card chance or what ever they called it. Some have gotten a Ford Edge with that. BUT I am not sure the trunk space could be a large as a Crown vic, or Buick Luceren (sp)

Clarification, a Crown Victoria is an example of a premium car you could receive, but is highly unlikely. More likely you'll receive a vehicle the agency now classifies as premium, like a Nissan Maxima, Buick Lucerne, Toyota Avalon, etc.

Last September, the 12th through the 25th, I had a reservation for just over $200. (and I was annoyed it was so relatively high, compared to the December before) I did an Emerald Aisle "midsize" reservation with National at a rate my husband could deal with (I could not, but I figured it would come down), and played around with codes and coupons until I got it to that level.

Since the EA reservations mean that you can choose from whatever's in the aisle, and since we've hit the lottery every time we've rented at MCO so far, we got a new Durango.

Each time we've gone to the MCO Emerald Aisle we've seen a ton of CrownVic-like cars; we just don't get them since we own a Grand Marquis and my car bores me (although ya gotta admit they have quite a bit of power) so I want something different. :)

Thanks for that great website Autoslash.com. It's great how they monitor if the price goes down and then notify you and you don't pay upfront. Hope we can get a decent rate. I signed up for dollar rent a car. Should I put a price alert on for another rent a car agency??? Thanks

On expedia.ca I just plugged in Sep 8 - 16th to see what I got. For a fullsize with Dollar it is $166.98 or $173.25 with Budget inc taxes. Note Dollar charges for additional driver and Budget does not. Even a US resident can book and even if you cancel you get a refund within 24hrs.
