Linking tickets

If I stick to my monthly budget I'll only be able to buy a one way ticket every few weeks. There are two of us going round trip so that will be four one way tickets purchased one at a time.

We fly with Delta so does anyone know if, after I've purchased all 4 tickets, they'll link them all together for me?
I know they'll link two round trip tickets so people are on the same reservation/sit together but does it work the same way for this situation?

Just save the money until you can afford to buy them all at the same time. I'm not sure if they can link them together, but even if they can, what will you do if the flight sells out before you can get all the tickets?

I live in an area where that has never, and probably never will happen. (although now that I've said it.......LOL)


Maybe I'll buy each leg for both of us at the same time but I'd rather not put that much money out all at once. Hm.........

You would need the two departure reservations linked and the two return reservations linked. You don't need all four linked.

As I understand it, the reason for linking is if there is some kind of change (equipment, time, etc), whatever changes happen, happens to all linked tickets.

Yes, you can link your reservations. You just need to call the airline.

It seems odd to buy tickets one at a time. Keep in mind that buying one way tickets on legacy airlines is usually more expensive than buying round trip tickets.

I know many people who've bought their tickets one at a time for various reasons. And I know it used to be that one way was more expensive but the last couple of years I haven't found that to be true. In fact in pricing out this trip the round trip tickets cost more. And multiple stops cost considerably more, which isn't how it used to be either.

Things....they are a'changin' I guess.
