Used an awesome National code for my April trip!

I just called them, and they said it's because I am using the car upgrade coupon with the ressie. Even though it's not a physical coupon, I still have to go to the counter.

Did you use that or any other coupons with your ressie?

Oohhh. I didn't use that one. I'm renting a minivan, so I didn't want to play games with upgrading, I need room for 6 people.
I used the Mousesavers coupon, it's $35 off and they take it right off of the quote. Maybe try that one for the upgraded car and see if it'll be the same price anyway? That one does not require me to go to the counter.

I was trying the one for the upgraded car, and it goes to counter service.

I tried with no coupons and it went to the Isle service.

I now have a bunch of ressies from trying it different ways, and the site won't let me cancel any of them.

I could modify and cancel my old ressies, but not any that used that code. I think maybe it's because of the KLM code it's assuming you booked through them rather than your E. Isle code.

Yes, I had to call to cancel the ressies I didn't want.
My advice (not that you asked for it, lol) would be to cancel the national ressies over the phone.
Then go back into the system. Put in the KLM Corp ID number and the Mousesavers coupon code and then select the level of car you wanted to be upgraded to anyway....I bet the price of the higher level with the $35 discount code will be the same or close to the lower level with the free upgrade but no discount coupon. The Mousesavers coupon code is ND8578ADT.

Ok, I just looked up the price picking up at 9am on March 16th and returning March 25th at 9am....the total price came to $409.29 for a mini van.
Does this sound like a good deal? Used 8572130 and the mousesavers code

Well, it's 2 more days than me for $137 more. That's not too bad. You're dates may be slightly higher demand than mine...
There aren't many decent prices out there right now. Budget was the only other company that wasn't 4 hundred dollars more!
So, I'd go ahead and lock it in! Save your confirmation and cancel if you find a better deal

Went back in and applied coupon sign in as emerald customer then changed the id and now got $317 for 8 days! It does say proceed to emerald isle on my res.

:worship:HUGE Thank You's to the OP. I just slashed my MCO rental for 2/18-2/25 from $310 to $221 using this code. :cool1:

I think the reason is because my ressie starts on the last day of the Feb. school vacation. I tried every coupon on mousesavers, and no coupons work except the upgrade, and then it says to stop at the counter.

Using no coupons gets me the Emerald Isle, but it's about $45 more for 2 weeks. I guess I have to decide if it's worth going directly out, or saving the $45. Or maybe, since I have no coupons, I will not stop at the counter and see if they will let me through.

Thanks again for the great codes!

Thank you Op for the tip on the code!! Signed up for Flying Blue no problem! This is an awesome rate for my placeholder reservation, as always I will keep looking. Beats my previous rate with Budget and has all insurance included. To everyone who is skeptical this is very typical for a foreign code to include this at little or no charge. Biggest plus for me is it's National and can you say Emerald Isle!!! :cool1:

Ok I'm a Nervous Nancy so I called National and they said our rental with FlyingBlue membership is all fine and good. They said because we used an upgrade coupon from compact? up to Midsized we have to stop at the counter... but will still be able to pick from the Aisle. She said the rental was legit and all was in order. She said any coupon at anytime can come up with the Counter Grade. I will take the upgrade coupon from Emerald Club members with me and my handy dandy FlyingBlue membership number with me. (not sure how long it will take to get the membership card)

THANK YOU SO MUCH for this great code!!
I'm not headed to Disney in April :sad2:
But we are going to Naples, FL and the rates have been outrageous for Spring Break. Just use the FlyingBlue Code and Mousesavers coupon and got a midsize, Emerald Isle for the week for $157.00 total!! Woo, Hoo.

Awesome - glad I could help!
I was actually getting frustrated with only finding a good rate with Budget - who i haven't used before. Then i thought....maybe someone knows something that's going a different month - so I checked the thread for March - and there it was! Moral for me - check all the threads!

Not only do you get a good rate with this code, it also includes a lot of the fees so that is a HUGE savings too! I'll be anxious to hear some feedback after some of you folks return from your trips, as I have several trips that I'm planning and this could save me big $$. Thanks to the OP! :thumbsup2

I just posted this in the March thread, but I thought I would post here too since this email is specifically about the KLM Code and I have some concerns. Mostly about how they are crediting back taxes/the line by line breakdown and whether the rate is only for non-US renters(Passport rates). Here is what I posted in the other thread:

There is something very weird about that Air France/KLM Flying Blue Discount. Has anyone used it yet and had it work at the rental counter? It includes all the taxes, recoup fees, and every other fee in the very discounted base rate. It also includes the extra insurance(s) for nothing which would normally be expenses. I have never seen a discount code do this before. It also showed another line were it actually credited some of the tax back due to the $35 National Coupon being applied. For anyone who booked it, check out the line by line on the reservation online (slightly different than what is shown on the email confirmation). It also shows the contract idea as XXXXXXX on the reservation when the Continental code I used before showed on that reservation. Anyone else think something is not right? Here is the breakdown on the car I reserved. Note that the 6% state tax shown that is calculated is also not 6% of anything I can see.

I do worry about the rate being honored though as it says it is 20% off Passport rates on the KLM site. Even though I could not find anything about passport rates on the National website, I did a quick search on it and saw that they were special rates on the European market and included taxes b/c that is standard for how the rental companies do it in Europe. I am not sure that the rate will be honored even with a Flying Blue club card that anyone can get if it is a U.S. customer. Although, my reservation is under my Emerald # and also clearly shows my country of residence as US above the total rate at the bottom. I am interested to see if this does or has worked for a U.S. Customer. . . especially an Emerald Club member who does not even have to go to the desk.

I have done some research myself on this code and it is legit and I have read responses on several other travel forums where it was used successfully at many different National locations in the US. If you don't feel comfortable using it, then I would book something else. Best of luck with what ever you decide.

I know the code is legit and I am not questioning that. . .what I am questioning is whether or not it is a U.S. Code for American renters. I realize it is for US locations. The US Contract ID for the Flying Blue Club is different if you click through the Travel Partners tab at the top of the National.com site to the International Airlines tab to the Reserve button. I did join Flying Blue and got the Contract ID from the KLM partners site that is different and gives the much great discount via Passport Rates. I found some old threads on travel sites in my research that said passport rates required a foreign passport at pickup.

I really hope it works for me as a U.S. renter and I am certainly going to try it as I will have a backup reservation. However, I was just looking for some first hand accounts of U.S. renters getting the discount when they picked up their car (including the insurance and taxes). The way my reservation shows a credit for the taxes as I pasted above just seems like a bug or something. Does your reservation show a credit like I showed above for Taxes and Surcharges?

Also, try and pull up your reservation made with the KLM site code on the National.com website. Go down to the Modify button and see what it says when you click it. It says it cannot be modified on the National.com website. It also says this if you click the cancel button. What is that all about? I will call them about this as well of course.

I think the pp called them and asked specifically about his being able to use the code and was assured that it was fine and that he was all set.
When you click on partners and then on car rental and national, nowhere does it say anything about residence restrictions. You enter your cow try of residence on the same page where you enter the contract ID, if there were something about being a us resident that would interfere, I assume that you would not be allowed to continue to the next screen with US as residence and the KLM code.
I am confident that the code will be no problem. If they tried to deny it after letting the ressies go through and sending me a confirmation and me having the proper Flying Blue membership, I would have a big issue with that. And if I have an issue, they have an issue. I don't make a stink about the small stuff - but something like that would have me seeing red and I am sure National wouldn't do it.
