Dream or Fantasy

We invited extended family (aunt, uncle, cousin) to join us on our cruise in May. We were really planning on the Fantasy. But they want a shorter 5 night Bahamas cruise on the Dream. We would like a 7 nt WC cruise.

Which should we chose? The ships will be almost exactly the same. its a matter of itinerary i guess

Go western! Persuade them that 5 night's isn't enough, and Nassau is boring!
7 night cruise all the way!

Ex Techie :)

Are you already booked on the Fantasy? If not, I think it would be very expensive to book now, unless there are some non-refundable guarantee cabins available.

I greatly prefer Caribbean itineraries to Bahamian ones. I'm also not a big enough fan of Castaway Cay to want to go there twice on the same cruise.

I prefer 7 over 5 nights and definitely prefer Caribbean over Bahamas. We just weren't that impressed when we went there on our first Disney cruise.

The key here, for me, is that YOU invited THEM to join you on YOUR cruise. So either they go with you or they do what they want on their own.

This isn't too snarky, is it?

Excellent point! No - not snarky at all.

I agree. One 2 occasions, we have invited a particular person on our vacations. She jumped at the opportunity and seemed thrilled and genuinely interested. Then she backed out at the last minute after I had made my plans around HER. Needless to say, won't be inviting her again, although she is a VERY close family member.

Anyway, I would suggest you make YOUR plans. If they want to go, great! If not, enjoy the vacation you planned :-)

Carry on with YOUR plans this trip, especially since May is coming up very quickly! While on board you could start making plans for another cruise, and book a dummy date.

The further in advance you book, the cheaper the rate. Usually. If the rate drops you should be able to get a refund.

We are booked on the 7night Western on the Fantasy and did the 5night on the Dream in October. The ships are amazing whatever one you pick but I thought the 5night was too short, hence the 7night in October.

If you can go on the 7 night Western then jump at the chance, and try to book Palo, it was stunning food. :surfweb:

I have to agree with the others, definitely go for the 7 night. We cruised for the first time ever on a 4 night cruise on the Dream in October just to get our feet wet. It simply wasn't long enough and I don't think we can ever do a cruise shorter than 7 days!

We're cruising the Fantasy in March 2013 and we invited our families. They were complaining about price and wanting to switch to a shorter cruise. For a brief moment, I considered it because I really wanted to cruise with them but my heart was set on the 7 night. Then it hit me, if they cancelled on me I could possibly be stuck with the shorter cruise and I would be VERY upset. Needless to say, everyone's booked on the 7 night now. :cool1:

Thanks everyone! We both did more research. They called us back and changed their minds. They were not that impressed with Nassau (I wasn't either)! So we're going on the Fantasy!!! :cool1: May 26- June 2. It was a bit expensive but we are going to cut back on some things. It may be tough at first, but it will be worth it!!! :goodvibes

Doesn't it feel GREAT to make a decision. Just don't be like me going back and forth and back again.

:lmao:
