Why Not Just Queue Up Another Disney Trip? Link to New TR 6/24 p136!

I think we have the same bucket list! At least for AK... I have never been on the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Ever! It was on my list for November but didn't happen... we made it through the Pangani Trail though. I'd done that one before but wanted to see the baby gorilla. Unfortunately that didn't work out. Maharajah is on the list for April for sure.

I'd also love to ride EE at night. Sunset is at 8pm in April so it's unlikely to happen then. Unless they add some evening EMHs during our onsite days... fingers crossed.

:rotfl2: You tend to get your way, huh? :rotfl2: Why the heck not? I'm just excited that we will be there at the same time in October! :cool1: Fingers crossed that the July trip comes to fruition!

Me, too! I'm super exicted about October. That's going to be a great trip, even if its short. :goodvibes I truly cannot get over the people I'm going to get to meet that weekend.

We'll see about July. :lmao:

And we're moving...down one of the paths at the AK, apparently. You got even more amazing pictures. I truly am in awe of your photo-taking abilities and never tire of looking at them.

They reminded me that the one park I hope to get some alone time in when i go in April is AK. Mark isn't big on it, nor is Max. In fact, its the one park we're skipping next week.

Until April...I can look at your pictures and think about all the sights I can't miss when I go again.

And EE at night...had not considered how incredible that must be.

OOOOOooooohhhhhh I am not even a wine drinker and I like that wine glass. Very Pretty.

Uhm....Yes.....I think I was the instigator on that one, but you LOVE it, don't you? :rolleyes1

AK is the only place I saw that mug. Denny got it in the EE dump shop, but I didn't go in any other shops so it might have been somewhere else.

I bought my mug at Ziwadi in Africa I think but I also saw it in MK inthe Adventureland near Aladdin. Best, biggest mug I have. :)

Sorry I missed the update, MEK. Mark and I worked the high school wrestling tournament Friday night and ALL day Saturday and were totally wiped yesterday.

I'm with Nick--I love Dinosaur. It is one of my all-time favorites. EE...nope, I can do without.

Love your trail pictures; although I must admit I skipped the bats. But your tiger pictures and all of the Disney touches are terrific, as always.

I'm another that likes Dino, it's a fun ride!

You are right about the cherry chocolate wine, it is great swigged right out of the bottle!:rotfl2:

I'm back in town and all caught up.

Love the Wishes pictures, just amazing!

I could watch those bats for ages, I think they are so cool.

I'm another Dinosaur fan. Even though I know what's coming I can't help but scream!

AK really is a fabulous park. I love them all can't pick a favorite.

I promise replies tonight and maybe an update. But right now I am trying to gear myself up to go running and its taking every ounce of motivation I have. :sad2:

I hope you have fabulous April weather so that you can walk one or both of the trails comfortably. I love the baby gorilla too. She is so sweet! But I really did enjoy the maharjah trek for a change of pace. It was wonderful. We got to visit the Pangani trail also.

I'd also love to ride EE at night. Sunset is at 8pm in April so it's unlikely to happen then. Unless they add some evening EMHs during our onsite days... fingers crossed.

Well, I had not ridden EE in the dark entering this trip, so stick around to see if that changes! Let's just say I was pretty determined to make it happen!

Me, too! I'm super exicted about October. That's going to be a great trip, even if its short. :goodvibes I truly cannot get over the people I'm going to get to meet that weekend.

Sometimes short trips are the best, even though they inevitably leave you want MORE! It is going to be a ton of fun to meet so many DISers from all over the country! :cool1:

We'll see about July. :lmao:

I hope it all works out for your! I know you really enjoyed last July's trip! :goodvibes You must be out of your mind excited about your upcoming trip!

And we're moving...down one of the paths at the AK, apparently. You got even more amazing pictures. I truly am in awe of your photo-taking abilities and never tire of looking at them.

.

Thank you! It's funny, but I was looking at the difference between the pictures I took when I first got my camera versus now. I can definitely see the improvement, although I would still love to take a real photography class not just on the use of the camera, but on photoediting as well.

They reminded me that the one park I hope to get some alone time in when i go in April is AK. Mark isn't big on it, nor is Max. In fact, its the one park we're skipping next week.

Until April...I can look at your pictures and think about all the sights I can't miss when I go again.

I'm sorry Mark and Max don't love AK. I can see why Max might not love AK, but its a bummer that Mark doesn't like it more. Well, actually a lot of adults don't like it. But that's what is so great about Disney. There is a park for everyone!

And EE at night...had not considered how incredible that must be.

It is something I have wanted to do for a long time! Every outside coaster is better at night, IMHO!

OOOOOooooohhhhhh I am not even a wine drinker and I like that wine glass. Very Pretty.

Well, I have to admit that I have drunk more than just wine out of it! ;)

I bought my mug at Ziwadi in Africa I think but I also saw it in MK inthe Adventureland near Aladdin. Best, biggest mug I have. :)

This is good information. I love that mug. I probably should buy another one just to keep at work. It would totally cheer me up there.

Sorry I missed the update, MEK. Mark and I worked the high school wrestling tournament Friday night and ALL day Saturday and were totally wiped yesterday.

I would have been wiped out after that too! I hope it went well.

I'm with Nick--I love Dinosaur. It is one of my all-time favorites. EE...nope, I can do without.

Well then you would love riding Dinosaur with Nick because he is out of control. His fake screams are hysterical and he has the script of the entire ride memorized!

Love your trail pictures; although I must admit I skipped the bats. But your tiger pictures and all of the Disney touches are terrific, as always.

I really enjoyed the bats, but I finally decided that its because it was daylight. I don't think I would be nearly as fond of them in the dark and do they stay in the cage all night? :confused3 What if one got out? :scared1:

Glad you enjoyed the pics!

I'm another that likes Dino, it's a fun ride!

It's one of the best and I think it feels different in each seat! :goodvibes I often use the line "not our Dino" when something doesn't belong to me. What can I say, I'm a Disney nerd.

You are right about the cherry chocolate wine, it is great swigged right out of the bottle!:rotfl2:
:rotfl2: Well, that's much better than out of a dixie cup! :rotfl2:

I'm back in town and all caught up.

Welcome back! Did you go somewhere fun?

Love the Wishes pictures, just amazing!

Thanks! So glad you enjoyed them!

I could watch those bats for ages, I think they are so cool.

Me too! They were pretty cool to watch. I was fascinated by the different species. I didn't know there were so many different types of bats.

I'm another Dinosaur fan. Even though I know what's coming I can't help but scream!
:cool1: woo Hoo for Dinosaur. It's so fun and I love being on it with first timers who have no idea what to expect. That's always fun.

AK really is a fabulous park. I love them all can't pick a favorite.

I can't really pick a favorite either. I usually have two that I like most, but those two frequently alternate. Most recently my top two have been AK & MK and Epcot & AK. But there have been times when MK & HS are my fav. It just depends!

Quick question -
When you do replies, you can break up one person's comments and separate them out and reply on each one. HOW do you do that?

Did I mention that I love your AK pictures???

I went to Cozumel Mexico for a week. It was so hard to come back to the cold. When we landed in Atlanta it was 33 and then BWI was 27. Coming from perfect 80s in just a few hours was hard.

LOVE that wine glass!!! So pretty!! :goodvibes
I am a fan of the fruit bats....I just find them so fascinating.....I know a lot of people shy away from them but I love their wings and their little furry bodies  I think it was in October when we were going through and saw two of them getting a little close :rolleyes1 the female was NOT happy!!!

I copy the entire reply and then I cut everything out but the first section and respond to that. Then I paste the entire reply again and again and do the same thing with the section I want to answer next. It's more work, but I like to answer each individual comment. It's only a pain when the DIS is going SLOOOOOOOOOOOW or if its a really LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG reply!

Did I mention that I love your AK pictures???

Thank you! I absolutely love to take pictures of AK! Favorite park for photo-ops - hands down.

13 more days for you! Woo Hoo! :cool1:

OMG! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Jealous! I hope you had a wonderful time. I definitely think I need a warm weather vacation next February right around this time. I bet it was GORGEOUS!

LOVE that wine glass!!! So pretty!! :goodvibes

Thanks! I think sparkling vodka would go pretty well in there, don't you? ;)

They are way cooler than I thought and that's why I wished that CM had been more helpful than she was. I wanted more education. I guess I was expecting her to answer me like she was a trek guide. No such luck.

Leave it to you to observe two bats engaged in a little hanky-panky! :rotfl:

The bats are cool to look at, but it freaks me out a little that there is no glass or screen between me & those bats.:scared1:

I got a pin number today from Disney. I was hoping for free dining, but it is for 30% off lodging in October. I don't know if it's worth pursuing or not. I would get to do F&W, but the crowds keep me away. My DH just hates those crowds & that would make him a very unhappy Disney camper!:confused3

Lunch with a Yeti!

When I left off last we were still exploring the Maharajah (NOT Pangani - thank you Glen) trail. I absolutely adored this trail and I do have a few more pictures to post that I took on the trail. Surprised?

I didn't think so!

Bye Maharajah Trek. It's been real!

IMG_0855.jpg

Next stop

IMG_0856.jpg

Conditioned air? OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Kay!

Yak & Yeti was an ADR I made when we were still on the DxDP. I didn't drop it when we realized we were doing TIW instead of the DxDP. Probably not the smartest move because just about every other restaurant in the AK takes the TIW card, except Y&Y. It's a Landry restaurant. There is a 10% AP or DVC discount, but its only on entrees.

Anyway - I wanted to try this restaurant because I've tried to eat here a couple times and haven't been able to. In 2010 Jen and I dropped this ADR and changed park plans and in 2009 Denny could not get an ADR here no matter how hard we tried.

So finally I was here - at 11:30 am for an 11:40 ADR. Tip - if you want to eat lunch here and don't have an ADR, just show up at 11:30 and I think you have a good chance of being seated. I am pretty sure we were the only ones in the lobby that had an actual ADR.

So a few pictures while waiting to be seated.

IMG_0858.jpg

IMG_0859.jpg

IMG_0861.jpg

I rushed to take those pictures because we were seated very quickly. We were seated upstairs in the center of the restaurant. I would have loved one of those window seats, but I figured since they were just opening up they probably had a system for seating people.

Light near our table.

continued in next post.........

We had a very friendly server who recommended several appetizers and entrees. Of course I knew of a couple of these recommendations from reading the DIS.

I really wanted to try a Yak attack, but I passed because I knew if I had a drink this early and a big meal I would need a serious nap.

So we decided to start with the wok fried green beans.

Yum!
IMG_0869.jpg

All I can say is these were heaven on a plate! So good. The outside was crispy and the inside was so soft and yummy. Good stuff.

For entrees Nick went with the Kobe beef burger

IMG_0880.jpg

Kobe Beef Burger - 10 oz grilled American Kobe beef burger, sesame-soy sauce, mayonnaise, crispy shoestring fries. topped with choice of shiitake mushroom & scallion compote or Asian slaw $17.99

Nick loved this! I have to admit, I'm not a huge burger fan, but this was really good. I have no idea how he ate almost all of it.

Denny had the Seafood Curry.

IMG_0881.jpg

MalAsian Seafood Curry - Mahi Mahi, scallops, little neck clams, mussels, shrimp, zucchini, roma tomatoes, red curry coconut broth, and jasmine rice $21.99

He did not love it. He said it wasn't very flavorful and the rice on top was just a huge clump of starch.

My entree has no description in allearsnet. Our server recommended the ahi tuna as an appetizer. It was also available in an asian salad. So I ordered the salad. Check this out..........

IMG_0882.jpg

That salad was HUGE and yummy. The dressing was incredibly flavorful. However, ahi tuna should have a nice firm consistency or texture and this tuna was sort-of mushy in the middle. That's the best description I can give it. It tasted fine, but the texture started to get to me so I actually didn't finish all the tuna. I did do a bang-up job on the salad. I'm actually surprised how much I ate. Wait...no I'm not. :rotfl:

Everyone was way too full for dessert which was a bummer because I really wanted to tried the fried wontons. I was counting on Nick to try dessert, but I guess after a 1/2lb of red meat he didn't have any room left.

So, overall our meal here was OK! Not great. Not bad. Just middle of the road and we only ended up getting about a $8 discount. I would definitely go back there for drinks at the bar and the fried green beans, but it will probably be awhile until I eat there again. I enjoyed the TH more.

So what was next on the agenda??????

We got out of the restaurant about 12:50, so I made a mad dash for Safari FP's and met the boys back at Flights of Wonder. I saw this show once before and since the weather was gorgeous I figured, why not?

It's actually a very good show. It's educational and entertaining.

The stage

IMG_0884.jpg

We sat near the back since we entered RIGHT before the show started.

For those of you who have never seen the show, the "story line" is one of a lost tour guide who has a fear of birds, but learns to overcome it throughout the show.

Lost tour guide

IMG_0894.jpg

See the flag

IMG_0895.jpg

Not for long because this little sucker goes and steals it off this rock

IMG_0898.jpg

Something like this

IMG_0900.jpg

Hey! Come Back Here with that flag!

IMG_0901.jpg

Ok. Where did it go?

IMG_0903.jpg

A wide variety of birds are brought on stage and this one was so cute because it actually imitated the trainer.

IMG_0906.jpg

IMG_0907.jpg

I wish I had video of this part because it was really funny!

IMG_0911.jpg

Of course Mr Tour Guide with a Fear of Birds hangs out safely behind this very protective tree

IMG_0913.jpg

The trainer tries to get the tour guide to help her feed the birds, but he doesn't come around until much later.

IMG_0914.jpg

Here a guest holds out the dollar bill, the bird takes it and gives it to the trainer and then returns it

Look at this ladies' face. OMG! Too funny!

IMG_0918.jpg

Don't move a muscle

IMG_0919.jpg

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMG_0921.jpg

Why thanks!

IMG_0916.jpg

Sure. Go ahead. Put it in my Pocket!

IMG_0917.jpg

At one point they asked for two audiences members with cameras to come down and yours truly got picked. I don't remember exactly what we did, but I think when we held up our cameras to take pictures the birds flew back towards us. I got as many up close pics as I could while I was on stage.

IMG_0925.jpg

IMG_0923.jpg

I wasn't down there very long, that's for sure!

Continued.......

Continued........

Holy crap.. I'm glad I got off stage before this big, bad, boy came out to play.

IMG_0930.jpg

Gloves look like a smart idea

IMG_0931.jpg

That is one big wing span

IMG_0937.jpg

Oh wait - You know what? I think THESE were the pictures I got on stage

Hi birdie

IMG_0947.jpg

IMG_0945.jpg

I get nervous when ever I get called to go on stage. that must explain why I can't remember the experience that well. :rolleyes1

More birds

IMG_0953.jpg

IMG_0958.jpg

Why Look! Our bird fearing fearless tour guide. I think he overcame his fears of birds. What do you know????

IMG_0959.jpg

Cool

IMG_0962.jpg

IMG_0967.jpg

Well, will wonders ever cease? Look what just got delivered back to the stage?

IMG_0968.jpg

At the end of the show all the birds came out to fly. I love this pic because it looks so surreal

IMG_0992.jpg

I really enjoyed this show! If you need a half hour of down time, this is a great way to spend it. Just don't go in if you are afraid of birds.

Up Next...Safari, Pangani Trail, an adult beverage and a Holiday Parade!

The bats are cool to look at, but it freaks me out a little that there is no glass or screen between me & those bats.:scared1:

There was definitely some type of barrier. I think it was glass. I don't remember. I just know they couldn't get out of there so it had to be glass.

Yeah for a pin! :cool1: Isn't it still a little early for free dining? I hope you do get it. I know you love your September trips. I hope October is not terribly crowded.

Wow! Your salad at Yak & Yeti looks awesome...well, minus the tuna 'cause I don't like tuna that much. Oh and the fried green beans look really good too.

You know, in all of our trips to the Animal Kingdom, we've never seen Flights of Wonder. I may just have to try and work it into our plans though because your pictures are great. How cool was it that you got chosen to come down on stage? Oh wait, you don't remember how cool it was do you? :lmao:

I copy the entire reply and then I cut everything out but the first section and respond to that. Then I paste the entire reply again and again and do the same thing with the section I want to answer next. It's more work, but I like to answer each individual comment. It's only a pain when the DIS is going SLOOOOOOOOOOOW or if its a really LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG reply!

I just copy the "end quote" {/QUOTE} (using the squiggly bracket in place of the square bracket so you can see it) to the end of the section I want to quote and then I copy the "beginning quote" {QUOTE=MEK;44050537} to the beginning of the next section. Then, if there are a lot sections I want to reply to, I'll just copy that group (the "end quote", 3 blank lines as placeholders for where I'll write, and "beginning quote") and paste it between all of the sections I want to break it into. Then I can go back and fill in what I want to say, in the blank spaces I left. It's too bad I can't show you -- it's a lot easier than it probably reads.

That lady's face at FoW is hilarious! :rotfl2:

Hey MEK, ask me how I sold Judy on DVC. :rotfl:

I'm sorry to hear your meal at Y&Y was kinda meh. It always sounds interesting in theory there, but I have heard many reviews similar to yours!

Flights of Wonder looks awesome! I always forget about it when we're in AK! How cool that you were able to go up on the stage!
