Hi krispykreme97

Was you on Disney Magic 7th May 2011, Eastern Caribbean cruise? I think I remember your name. If so, looks like we are going to be cruising again together.
See you soon.
Neil

No sorry wasn't me but I look forward to cruising with you this time around!

I don't want to bring up any debate at all but are any of you taking your kids out of school to do this? My DD will be 14 at the time and we think that due to scheduling reasons we might have to change to this cruise (we were booked on a 7 night in August). That would mean that my DD would have to miss the last 4 days of school. I'm fine with her missing school but unsure about the last 4 days. I don't think they do a ton in those last few days but I'm not sure. I took her out for a few days last month for vacation and our school district is absolutely ok with it. I'm almost positive that we're going to change either way so you'll probably see me on here very soon!

Our schools are out May 23 this year so I'm assuming next year would be about the same! If I'm not mistaken this same cruise is the following week on June 8. I don't think missing the last 4 days will be an issue if u let them know ahead of time. We usually miss the last few days in December before Christmas break never been an issue until this year a new school for her and they do end of the semester exams. I just requested that she take them early and it wasn't a problem.

Disney mam - THANK YOU!!! Based on your post I had so much fun researching Elipsos hotel train today. We plan to fly to Paris for just a couple nights prior to travel to the port in Barcelona. I've read about a 12 hr train ride, and a new high speed 6 hr train, and small airlines that fly Paris to Barcelona, but this hotel train idea sounds like something that my family would get a kick out of, and is within the price range of all the other options. And I wouldn't have found out about it if you hadn't mentioned it. So thanks!

This sounds interesting!

Than you Tracey, that's awesome. :)

I am thinking it is a system error, but yesterday our cruise had availability in every category, today the DCL website says the cruise is sold out. It also says the first sailing after is sold out???

Working now.

Just reserved for my DW and I.

Chad and Brandy
2nd Disney Cruise
Cabin: 6126
From: Escondido, CA

We are planning on going to Disneyland Paris first, but have barely begun to work out the details.

Welcome and congrats on the cruise.

I have been to DLP 5 times and loved it. We were going to go for Christmas this year but booked the cruise instead.:)

My family will be going to Barcelona by train from Paris for the cruise as my DH doesn't like flying!!!

Hello there,
we are on also.....It's me, my husband Daniel, my two DD at time of cruise 5 years and 4 years, and my inlaws Ans and Leo. Very excited and counting the days of to the first of June 2013. This is our second DCL cruise, our first cruise ever was the Disney med cruise last year and we love'd it sooo much....too bad that DCL wasn't coming back in the med in 2012 so when 2013 med cruise were released, I had only one mission! I'm also taking my oldest daughter out of school, but the 12 night cruises, which are during the holidays, are not affordable :scared1: .
Our dream is once to fly to Florida and cruise the Dream or Fantasy and visit Castaway Cay, but we need pixie dust I think;)
We are on the main seating.
Have a great research time.
Regards
Mimi

Welcome to the June 1st board! As you've already been on a Med cruise :cool1: we might have to ask you some questions. I also found the 12 night cruises to be a little more than we wanted to spend but I'm very happy to be going on the 7 night! If you have any ideas please feel free to post :thumbsup2

Hi everyone - the Med cruise will be our third on DCL but this is the first time we are going to do the FE - it's ordered from ebay and should get here soon! So I'm wondering what types of little gifts should I plan to give? Since space/weight is an issue I know they will need to be something lightweight and easy to pack. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I know we have plenty of time but I'm in a "magical" state of mind right now...and counting the days till Barcelona!
:rolleyes1

We would like to do the FE as well and would love some ideas. I too will have to order ours from ebay because I don't plan to make one - I'm the least crafty person I know! That being said, if I plan to do anything homemade for the FE I'd have to start now because it would take me 1 year and a half to finish!:rotfl2: Also, do you bring items for adults as well as children or just for children? Thanks!

I plan on trying to bring items that are quite local to me and my heritage. :)

Happy counting, I am like a child in a candy shop at the moment, just so excited!!!

Also, I am going to try and make my own FE.

We can't wait to see DLP. DWs mission is to see all the Disneylands. We grew up going to WDW and we only live an hour from DL, so I guess Asia will have to be next!

I can understand the flying thing. We are not looking forward to the flights from California to Europe. But we will probably do the train thing as well once we get there.

Any recommendation on DLP hotels? Newport Bay looks pretty nice.

I usually make things for the FE exchange and give out candy, but I won't want to haul candy overseas. Depending how many people we have, something like Disney key chains, custom pens, notepads, door magnets, etc wouldn't take up too much room.

But I like the idea of not bringing anything and buying things there like buying postcards for everyone at one of the Italian ports, or some trinket while in port, and then giving it out. I'm sure it would make a street vendor's day if you walked up and asked them for 25 Tower of Pisa snowglobes.

All you have to pack is a box of sandwich size ziploc bags and a sheet of labels that say your name and cabin number so you can stuff and deliver them. I might just do that. But no worries, I'm not really into snowglobes! :goodvibes

This is the FE I made, it was not to bad. pixiedust:

Any recommendation on DLP hotels? Newport Bay looks pretty nice.

Everyone who has stayed there likes the Newport Bay and it is close to the Disney Village. It has a nice pool and is right on the lake.

I have only stayed in Santa Fe, Cheyenne and Sequoia Lodge so I am not had personal experience of the NPB hotel. My family just preferred the Santa Fe as it was very vegetarian friendly (which my hubby and boys are). We kept saying we would stay at all the hotels for a different experience, but my kids wanted to go back to the SF because they like the food in offer.
We didn't spend much time in our rooms (only to sleep). So, it made sense and saved money which was put to an extra night. :)

Very pricey DLP and especially if you have cocktails. It cost us over 40euros for 2 kids drinks, 1 lager and a cocktail when we went to the bar in the Disneyland hotel.

Just two little tidbits! First of all I've been reading Med trip reports like crazy and I'm getting a little nervous about how much pickpocketing I've seen! :scared1: Is there anything that you do to make sure that you don't get pickpocketed or any precautions you take?

And second, I just bought Rick Steves' Mediterranean Cruise Ports book and it is fabulous! I'm not extremely far into it yet but he's got some great tips and information. I highly recommend it! He is all for doing ports on your own but he's also realistic and lets you know when you really SHOULD do an excursion or tour. Can't wait to read more!

Thanks!

For my camera bag, which is a camera rucksack I have one of the carabiners you would use for absailing. I clasp it through both zips in order to make it a difficult task for anyone wanting a quick steal.
Whenever I go to Disneyland Paris I am very weary due to other people's experiences. I have never had any trouble and this may be down to the extra security or just luck.

You could always carry a rucksack on your front. And I read a trip report where a lady kept her money in her bra.:)

Not sure if we have Rick Steve's over here, but I will pop to my local library when I get the chance to see if there is anything there of use.
