I searched the Disboards for a thread about the Viggle app, but didn't find one. So I wanted to share this amazing find with everyone!

Viggle is a free app that is only available for the iPhone, iTouch, and iPad. (They have plans to make a version for android soon.)

Check into your favorite shows and accumulate points that you can later redeem for rewards. They offer gift cards, and even an Amazon Kindle! A $10 gift card costs 14,000 points, and the Amazon Kindle is 175,000 points, just to give you an idea.

On average you earn 2 points per minute, so an hour show can get you 120 points. If you watch shows that are featured on the Viggle app, they earn you more points. Example, American Idol is worth 400 points. When you open the app, the featured shows are listed right there and you can scroll through them.

Sometimes the app gets hung up when checking into a show, which can be annoying because you don't start collecting points until you are checked-in. (You receive points after the show is over.)

Viggle also offers extra points from correctly answering trivia questions, and watching movie trailers and commercials.

I work from home and tend to watch a lot of t.v. I average about 4,000 to 6,000 points per day. (There are other out there who have accumulated more, believe it or not!)

So in two and a half weeks I have redeemed $50 in gift cards! Barnes and Noble, Sephora, and Itunes were the gift cards I chose. :cheer2:

Check out the app; there is a FAQ's page and a video on how Viggle works. I recommend everyone who can: check it out! :thumbsup2

Cool, thanks for the info! I just got in the last hour, with playing around on how to use it, watching some movie trailers, etc.. I've already earned over 2,000 points.

I can see where we could earn a lot of point here, with the TV shows that dd's watch, etc.

Very neat!

Oh, and to the posters above, it looks like you can earn points for recorded/dvr'd shows.. not sure how that works though.

We mostly watch from Hulu or Netflix.. wonder if this would work with those programs?

Thanks, I'm checking it out now to se ehow DVR'd stuff works. We also watch a lot of on demand stuff so hopefully I can get that too.

Here's the difference between live tv and DVR:

Live tv: Gives you the option of manually checking-in if the audio fails twice.
Meaning you type in the name of show you're watching, and click on it.

Recorded shows: If the audio doesn't check-in, you're out of luck. There is no manual check-in for recorded shows. This sucks, and I've already tried it with recorded shows.

After I checked-in to my recorded show, the app kicked me out after 2 minutes and only awarded me 20 points. So I only do live tv now.

Wow, 2,000 points in an hour?? The highest points I've gotten from all the trivia and videos was maybe 1,000 points in an hour, and that's answering every trivia question correctly!

Hint: They often have the same trivia questions over and over again. So if you miss it, try and remember the correct answer for when it comes around again!

I also am up a little over 2,000 points and I just downloaded it about an hour ago. It gave me 1,500 just for downloading. I can't seem to get it to recognize DVR'd shows unfortunately.

Oh, I forgot that new comers get those points upfront. When I joined two weeks ago they gave me 1,800. Wonder why they lowered the amount? Oh, well. It's still a nice sign up bonus! :thumbsup2

Do you have to check in during the show or just at the beginning? I think this is a good app for me... I'm home a lot right now. Thanks for mentioning it!

You can check in anytime, however you will get less points the later you check-in. Let's say something is on at 8:00pm and goes an hour. If you check-in at 8:00pm and watch the whole hour, you'll get 120 points (2 points per minute.)

If you don't check in until 8:30pm and the show ends at 9:00pm, then you only get 60 points.

One time I didn't check into a show until 10 minutes in, so I lost out on those first 20 points.

So try to check-in as close to the start time as possible to get the most points! :thumbsup2

So basically you have to watch the show from start to finish without switching channels to get the points?

Not really. Once you check in, you can go about your business. You don't keep the app open. However, you can't check into more than one show at once.

One word of caution: I don't think they were necessarily ready for their own popularity. There have been several occasions when I haven't been able to check in only to read later about server issues. Grammy night was an absolute wash. They were running a promotion where you could get up to 10,000 bonus points for " playing along" during the show by answering trivia questions. I don't know if it ever worked for the East Coast. We're supposed to be getting some sort of consolation points to make up for it, but I haven't heard the specifics yet.

I'm on the East Coast and had the same problems. Their server was hung up a lot that night.....there were several questions that I missed out on. :sad1:

But the Viggle Bowl (during the Super Bowl) was way better. Didn't have any server issues.

The Featured shows that are list on Viggle give you lots of points. (I'm sure you've noticed that as you scrolled through the list.)

Any other show not listed will give you 2 points per minute. Doesn't matter whether it's a movie on HBO, or a show from Food Network.

I have checked-into such shows as The Today Show, many reality shows on Bravo, LifeTime, ABC Family and movies on HBO.

I LOVE Viggle! I am trading my points in for Amazon Cards and am saving up for an I-Pad! It is going to take some time but after 1 week of "doing the viggle" I have $100 is amazon credit! Today Amazon was not listed as a reward anymore - but they assured me they will be coming back soon! This is a fun app!

Thank you for posting this!
I signed up yesterday and I finished up this evening with over 10,300 points!
I was obsessed with it today. I figure I need to rack up a lot of points on the days I am home since I won't get any points when I'm not here LOL.

Thanks for sharing! I've gotten over 10,000 points in 2 days with this!

A few questions:

Has anyone redemeemed for Target gift cards and then used the target gift cards in the store? (Scanning off your phone?)

Is there a limit to referrals?

Thanks!
