Amount of kids on non-Summer/school break cruise

Hi all- We're going on our 2nd Dream cruise on 5/13. Our first one was last year during Spring Break. We have two children (12 yo DD and 9 yo DS) and they loved having lots of kids to play with on the cruise and made lots of friends. Our kids are homeschooled so the schedule is not a problem, but my wife is concerned that our 5/13 cruise will not have any children for them to meet and pal around with since it's not during a school break. I've assured her that the ship will hardly be barren of kids, but am I possibly mistaken? Even if there aren't as many, I'm sure there will be plenty?

Schools around the country have many different schedules and that doesn't even account for things like year round schools and homeschools.

Reality--does it matter whether there are 25 kids or 400 kids in your child's age group? No kid can "play" with 100 others at the same time; she needs a few to interact with.

Our best ever cruise from a group standpoint was the September 2005 Panama Canal crossing. There were a total of 15 teens on the ship. Many of them are still in communication--best bunch of kids ever.

Quality matters a lot more than quantity...and she'll have ENOUGH kids her age on the ship.:goodvibes

Did you check your Cruise Meet group? This is how I knew whether there were same-age kids in my cruise and kinda "meet" their parents :thumbsup2, informally thru the group thread. Hope you have a dreamy vacation!

Come to our Meet group! I'm bringing my 12 yo DD and 10 yo DS. Hope to see you!

we will be on that cruise as well...sarah will be 10 and matthew 7 :) our kids are not off from school though.

We are on that cruise too, along with some other family members. Total of 6 kids in our group. Boy's 12, 10, 7, 6 Girls 5, 4. I think from the size of our FE group alone we can expect there will be a good amount of kids.

We are also on the cruise and between my sister & I, we have 5 kids & one young adult coming ages 20DD, 17DS, 16DD, 14DD, 9DS, & 8DS. Loks like there will be a great group of kids on this cruise! :thumbsup2:cool1:

I keep wondering the same thing about our Sept cruise. We have two kids, one is homeschooled, one is not. We have already found friends from the boards that homeschool their kids too, so hopefully they can hang out! Can't help but wonder how many kids will be on a cruise the week after Labor Day....

There won't be as many kids in mid September as there would have been in August...but there will be plenty in each age group. Granted, it will be more weighted toward the younger kids, but you can expect a decent number at every age.
