Is the buffet available for dinner?

Just in case we don't want to do a sit down, long dinner is the buffet open for dinner? We will be on the Fantasy.

At dinner, it is not a buffet on the current ships. It is a "casual" sit down with a salad bar. They choose 4-6 items from the main dining room menus and add one carved meat. The attire is casual, service very prompt. No waiting for us! It is a training restaurant--the chefs and servers are in training for the main dining room.

We found the service to be amazing, the view lovely, and the food better than the main rooms. That might reflect the smaller quantities being prepared.

when we ate dinner at Cabanas on the Dream there was no "salad bar" at dinner.

There was a lovely menu of a variety of choices. If you're a beef eater, you'll be in heaven because there were 3 different steaks on the menu - all of them cooked to order and wonderfully juicy (unlike our dry beef in the dining room - which we were told "was for our own protection").

The service and food were both wonderful and we really enjoyed the casual setting with the very attentive serving team.

We'd do it again in a heartbeat.

We were able to order our meat however we wanted last week. I order medium rare and DH orders rare. We had not problems whatsoever. I wonder if something was going on at the time they did not let you chose how done you food was?

I wish they ran the buffet for dinner each night. It would be a great option, especially for 7 nights and longer!

We were able to order our meat however we wanted last week. I order medium rare and DH orders rare. We had not problems whatsoever. I wonder if something was going on at the time they dd not let you chose how done you food was?

Oh, we could choose how our meat was done (I like mine rare) but even though the meat was red it was dry (no juices - like it had been cut and patted dry). Our head server told us all of the meat was served dry "for our own protection"

They never offered that to us - there was a salad on the menu though (that I ordered).

We went to the dinner in Cabanas one night on the Dream last March. We had late dining and our daughter was so tired, we knew she wouldn't make it through the 8:30pm dinner. Plus, we were tired of the offerings out near the pool at the Cars themed places. The dinner in Cabanas was GREAT. We were in and out in 30 mins. I'm hoping they have the same dinner most nights on the Fantasy....we're crusing June 23rd and have late dining AGAIN!

We went to Cabanas on Pirate Night -- we have never been fond of the Pirate Night menu.

When they brought our menu out -- yep, it was the Pirate Night menu (in fact, abbreviated from the main dining rooms' menu.) That was our biggest laugh on that cruise.

We had the exact same experience on the Magic in November. We did not care for the menu one night (it was Prince and Princess night) so we went to Topsiders (or is it Beach Blanket?). We were not impressed at all and would not do it again. The food was the same, but more limited, the service was iffy (in all fairness, they were people in training and did their best). It was VERY casual and there were a lot of kids who were cranky and tired.

I had read how great it was so we tried it. It just wasn't the dining experience for us, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't be good for someone else looking for a very casual sit-down meal. It was much faster than main dining, which was a plus.
