My DH has just been diagnosed with sleep apnea. I think I know the answer but want no surprises. I know it can go on the plane with us and we have the doctors note for that. I know it can go through the screening x-ray too. My concern is, is there a plug near the beds in the cabins so my DH can use it?? Also will they because of medical reasons supply us with bottled water or do I buy some before heading onto ship? We must use bottled water in the CPAC machine. I don't mind buying bottled water at all, I think we will only need a pkg of 6 anyway for our 5 nights 6 days cruise. Oh by the way we will be on the Dream. Thanks inadvance

I haven't been on the Dream yet, but I also use a CPAC. I've done some research and if you fill out the special needs form, Disney will proviide the distilled water for you. I believe I also read where there are plugs by the bed also, but I could be wrong.

I always hand carry mine on the plane, never check it, even at the port! And I always bring a new or near new extension cord just in case. A 10 foot usually works well, even on Carnival, which only has 1 outlet in the cabin.

On Carnival ships, they will charge you for the water, but I just use the tap water there. It is made from a reverse osmosis process and is virtually distilled water anyway! The reasons for using distilled water in the humidifier is to keep mineral build up from occuring on the heating element. (If that does, just use a litle Lime-a-way and then wash well. Gets rid of it very easily!)

Plan on a litle extra time going through security at the airport with your CPAC. Usually, they take it out of the case and inspect it well, just as they do laptops, etc.

Have a great cruise!

Just off the Dream and my husband had a really hard time using his. I think if he had an extension cord he would have been better off. There just wasnt good placement for him to put the machine.

So definitely bring an extension cord.....

DCL will provide distilled water free--add this note to your reservation. There are no plugs near the beds on the Magic or Wonder; don't know about the Dream. They will provide an extension cord if you request it--there is a $50 charge if they don't get it back.

Save yourself the hassle--pack your own extension cord! You'll actually find many uses for it on the ship as only the outlet by the desk is functional for anything more than a shaver.

My husband used a CPAP machine on our Dream cruise in Sept.
We carried water onto the ship and an extension cord. We did not
use the cord at all. My DH slept on the side of the bed close to the
door. There is a plug there and during the day, we stored it under
the cabinet where it was plugged in.

I don't use CPAP but when I was on the Dream last year I slept on the side near the door and there was an outlet under the shelf next to the bed. I plugged my cell phone in there.

Same as others... we were on the dream in September and my wife slept on the side nearest the door. There was a plugin on her side of the bed... we may have had to unplug something, but I can't remember for sure. We filled out the medical form and sent it to DCL and they had a gallon of distilled water waiting on us at no charge.

It was certainly easier than trying to get on ship with a gallon. :rotfl:

:surfweb: I as many others use a CPAP machine, and Disney is great with any type of medical request. If you need the Distilled water, call DCL dirct with you reservation number and let them know. A gallon will be delivered to your cabin before the 1st night...

And "ALWAYS" take an extension cord & power strip when you cruise.

Hope this helps....

take an extension cord. I have used mine on all 5 of our cruises - and i have used the water out of the tap - as it is really distilled water ... and it never made any residue in the humidifier chamber of my machine.

My father-in-law used one for years and took an extention cord on his cruises. For myself, I am planning on keeping one in my cpap travel bag permanently.

My husband used his on the Dream a few weeks ago. There is a plug for by bed. We did not have to fill out any medical paper just called and asked for the water. It does go under health request. Some operators don't understand but look it up and it is provided.

3 out of 5 of my family members have CPAPs. Do the following:

Send an email to DCL.Special.Request.Medical@disney.com . Make sure you have your confirmation number, your cabin number (if assigned) , the name of your ship, and the date of your cruise. Request a bottle of distilled water (you should ONLY use distilled water--not regular bottled drinking water) for the CPAP. Explain the need for an outlet, and ask for an extension cord as well. Trust me--we were running two of them in our inside stateroom. We had a bottle of distilled water waiting for us in our cabin, and the required type of extension cord when we boarded. All three of our machines ran every night.

WOW what a response. That is why I love this board. Thank you all for all the information. This is just great. Now where is this medical form that I need to fill out for him? I have already got all our luggage tags and everything from Disney. I'm thinking e-mailing them would be best since our cruise is less than a month away. We were told that bottled water is okay as long as it hasn't been opened . The machine he is using now is on loan from them until 2 days before we leave. He then gets his own for the cruise. The government doesn't want to pay out unless it works (which is good, everything else they do is a little off:rotfl:) I will bring a extension cord just in case, it will go in our suitcase. Thanks again for all the help:thumbsup2

Call them [DCL] with you reservation number, and let them know what you need.

(800) 951-3532

unless you used a TA/ or used points....
if you used a TA/ call them to arrange what you need
or if you used points, call DVC

Hope this helps
