Wine Package Question

DH and I are considering ordering one of the wine packages for our next cruise. We'll be flying in and just don't want to be bothered with bring wine onboard and/or corking fees but we do want the luxury of a glass of wine with dinner. The packages are priced by number of night but if we're on a 7 night cruise, can we buy a 5 night package? I can't see us going through a bottle of wine every night at dinner! Okay, I can see it but then I'd pass out and miss the shows :rotfl2:

Are they flexible? So if we did buy a 5 night package and one night DH wanted red, but I wanted white, could we get two bottles and then just use up the rest of the bottle over subsequent nights?

We did that on our October sailing. We purchased a lower night package for our 7-nighter. Also, ordering more than one bottle at a time is not an issue.

This is very helpful. We plan to have friends over and wanted to get a larger package to go through a couple bottles at that gathering.

Please be advised, however, that if you call to order the package ahead of time you will not be able to purchase a package for fewer nights than the length of your cruise. We were absolutely not permitted to do so last year for our Alaska cruise. I would try waiting until you are aboard...and then you could just purchase by the bottle.

I have not heard of anyone successfully ordering a wine package ahead of time for fewer nights than the length of the cruise.

Hello

I was curious if they have dessert wines like Moscato's or Iced wines on board. My wife and i prefer the sweeter wines.

I know they have Moscato. However, if you can, bring your own. They are charging $6.50 a glass and I bought a bottle of the same stuff for ~$8.75 yesterday.

Yep! I didn't think I could buy small package for the 7 night, but once onboard, i was given the option of buying any package i wanted. Theyvwill give you the info at dinner the first night. If you want it for sailaway, go Over to the lounge/ bar area (i dont know which ship you are) and they will have tables set up displaying the packages right after embarkation. It worked really well for me since my Dh prefers beer generally. I bought the 3 night package and chose to have one bottle sent to the room.

That's a really good idea:goodvibes

Thank you for the tip!!:thumbsup2

I agree with the author's point of view! I learned a lot. Thank you!

I recently returned from a 7-night aboard Magic, and my sister bought us a 4-night wine package beforehand. I believe she faxed the request in, so maybe that was why it worked? Just a suggestion, although it sounds like you won't be bothered ordering it once you're onboard.

Ah I see...great to know! So I'll plan on ordering on board...Maybe by then we will want the bottle per night !

Another little fact I did not know until our last sailing - if you wait to order it after you leave the port - like at dinner the first night - you pay no tax - but if you order it in port you pay tax.......

I had thought we would order ahead of time for our 3N, but is it really easy to buy on board? You can even order it at your table the first night at dinner? Since it's only a 3N, I'm trying to avoid having to go to Guest Relations and stand on line for things--we're ordering Rain Forest room passes ahead of time--but if we can get the wine package right at the table for dinner, we may just do that. Any suggestions? Thanks!

It was always very easy to order. Most of the time we would order it while we had our embarkation lunch. On the Wonder and the Magic (haven't sailed the Dream yet) there was a whole display available as you walked to Parrot Cay. If you want to order it at dinner your first night, there will be a package list available on your table and your assistant waiter will take the order there. Disney always makes it simple for you to part with your cash!

How much of a tax savings are we talking? 5%? 10%? :thumbsup2

The premium wine package is $129 for the 3N and the classic is $84. It's hard to find the info--it's buried on the shopping section of the Disney Cruise web site and is listed in the "Spa, Photo, and Beverage Pre-purchase Options" section.

This is why I wondered if you could buy it on board--they don't make it easy to get the information and I would assume that it does save you money if you planned on having a bottle of wine with dinner every night.
