ARG, having a hard time with this change, help??

We had planned on DCL to Hawaii in October, but then I just found out that i have the chance to buy then home that we currently live in, if I pay off our bills, have a down payment of about $6000.00 our monthly payment will be about $290.00, I can do this too, with a sacrifice.

I am currently married, but the loan will only be in my name so I think DH will not be helping out on down payment or me paying off my/our debts, also I was paying for the entire DC to Hawaii.

For $2500.00 less I can get a 1 bedroom Mexico cruise,plus I would have until Sep to pay off, where as Hawaii it was June.

I can hit DLR before or after the Mexico trip......

Please help me by saying I am making the right choice my changing cruises, I have dreamed of this Hawaii trip for awhile.......

It's a house! That is long-term, big deal, best case fabulous! You are still getting to go on a cruise and you will have a great time wherever you go. Then you get to come home to your house...that you are buying...it's yours! Hooray!

You are talking about the difference between short term pleasure and long term security. My only question would be whether you should consider not cruising at all right now as you WILL need some savings for when (not if, but when) the home needs repairs. If the roof leaks or the furnace goes out, as an owner YOU are responsible--you can't just call the landlord or his agent.

Pretty much everything is new, when we moved in last February all the floors, kitchen cabinets, counters and sink, the walls, the roof, water heater and wall heaters were brand new. A very nice wood stove that heats up the house great was put in just in June, all it needs is a little yard work. So no worries there, just gonna miss my Hawaii

Yeah but they are new better then not new, I am not to worried about things breaking, with a house payment of $290 I am sure we can afford to fix things if needed and that is with insurance, no property taxes either, a big plus

Congrats on the house! Defanitely do the house and a smaller cruise and maybe you can even book hawaii cruise for next yr. Is asking for hubby help a possibility?

It's clear you've thought about this carefully, and feel like you've made the right decision. So, you made the right choice in changing cruises. Good luck to you and DH.
