june 1, 2013 magic med 7 day

Ok it's official!! We will be joining the June 1st Med cruise!!:banana:

I will be traveling with my sister and we're taking my DD who will be 13 at the time (not 14 like I'd previously stated - that would have been if we kept our original August date as she turns 14 in July).

I'm Tracy (Tracerr00), my sister is Diane and my DD Eilee will be 13 at the time.
We are from Wisconsin and this will be the 2nd Disney cruise for Eilee and me but the first for my sister. I've been reading blogs like crazy that were written by previous Med cruisers. I'm getting so much info and I can't wait to share info with those of you that have cruised the Med before. I'm one of those extreme planners! :lmao:

I am also an extreme planner - and another person taking a teen daughter out of school for this trip. We were originally scheduled for august but then I realized it will be the week before DD goes into high school as a freshman. In case we need to change some of her classes or if they have an open house - assign lockers - whatever - we wouldn't want to miss it.

So we switched to June 1. Which yes, it means I will be pulling her out of school and my husband then said "what if they have placement tests for high school that week or final exams she can't miss?" Argh!!! I cannot win. But considering how much more affordable June is to the mid August cruise, I figure we'll just have to make it work. I thought about calling the middle school and asking their opinion but honestly I was afraid when I said that I was calling about the summer of 2013 they'd laugh at me!!! Some people just don't get how Disney works. :rotfl:

I made my reservations myself and then had the reservation turned over to my TA. I received my invoice from my TA today and discovered that the amount DCL quoted me is different from the amount they indicate on the invoice. The downpay amounts quoted, charged to my credit card and reflected on the invoice are all three different and none are 10% of any of the total amounts quoted nor any amount on the invoices. My TA is looking into it but thought I mention here so in case you all want to check your credit card activity against your invoices.

It was the same for us! We had a date scheduled in August but my DD will be going into high school as well and I realized that our district schedules orientations and sports sign ups and such in the weeks prior to the first day of school. But I don't think she'll be missing anything in the last few days of Middle School. I plan to give the school PLENTY of notice and I've found that her school is really accommodating. Hopefully our girls will be able to meet at a DIS meet since they'll be about the same age. However with the age rules my DD will have to be in the tween club because she won't be 14 until a month after the cruise.

Val, that's too bad about your discrepencies! I checked my e-mail conformation and all is in order. :thumbsup2 My card wasn't charged anything because I transfered a deposit from another cruise that I had booked.

Tracy, I think missing the last few days of school is far better than missing the first few, especially of high school. As far as the cruise prices being better in June than August, the same will be true for airfare. Airfare to Europe in August can be outrageous. :scared1:
My middle DD will be in Edge also. She will be 13, 2 months shy of turning 14. I'm much happier with her in the tween club than the teen. My oldest DD has been in Vibe on our last 3 cruises, and those kids can get crazy. :rotfl: This will be her first cruise that she can't go in Vibe and she's disappointed! I keep telling her she will get to go to Palo with us and the adult only pool and cove cafe, etc. It doesn't seem to be helping. I also keep telling her that she will have just finished her first year of college and she's not going to want to hang out with a bunch of "high schoolers". I think she has this feeling that she is going to be bored. :lmao:

I'm so glad to see a few girls that are DDs age! It will help so much to either have them email each other prior to the cruise or do a DISmeet so they can meet each other. They will have so much fun!

Hi, my first post here on the forum (just signed up).

I found this site after looking for information on the Disney Med Cruise and would like to tag myself in this topic. I will be on board the Magic for the 1st voyage in the Med 2013!! I am so excited and have lots to read.

Myself (Rhian), Hubby (Gareth) and 2 sons (Harvey, 9) (Theo, 7).

This will be our first cruise and we are excited to travel from Wales to join you. :yay:

Welcome along, you will find loads of useful information on these boards about cruising with Disney. I had never fancied going on a cruise, but Tracey (The boss) wanted to, so we went on Disney Magic last year in the Caribbean. It really was the best 7 days holiday ever. Addicted now and can't wait for the 1st June. We are now planning on when to fly out to Barcelona, may have a few days before the cruise.

DH and I are booking this cruise. It is not booked yet as I am not sure if I am willing to pay $1100 more for a balcony so I think we might book a inside for now.

It will just be DH and I we are celebrating a late 25th anniversary (which is really Aug 15, 1987 and our mortgage burning which is April 27, 2013.

Welcome!! We also booked an inside room for now. We're considering an upgrade but we're sticking with the inside room for the time being because we might want to spend that extra money on excursions. And congrats on the upcoming anniversary and mortgage burning - both incredible milestones!!

My DH doesn't like flying so we will be taking the Eurostar to Paris and then having and adventure on the hotel train to Barcelona. It looks quite fun and my boys are stoked about the train just as much as the cruise. lol

Now I have talked my DH into booking with DU I best pay the deposit. I have booked cat 9D but may upgrade in future. DH wants verandah, but I just wouldn't feel comfortable with the boys.

State room 1070

I'll be there.... Did the 11 day in 2007 - back for more.... I'll be in 8032... Midship Suite... It will be me and the GF...

Disney mam - THANK YOU!!! Based on your post I had so much fun researching Elipsos hotel train today. We plan to fly to Paris for just a couple nights prior to travel to the port in Barcelona. I've read about a 12 hr train ride, and a new high speed 6 hr train, and small airlines that fly Paris to Barcelona, but this hotel train idea sounds like something that my family would get a kick out of, and is within the price range of all the other options. And I wouldn't have found out about it if you hadn't mentioned it. So thanks!

It does look quite fun, doesn't it.

Booking for it doesn't open up until about 3 months before the travel dates, so we have a while to wait. I will let you know when it comes live for our booking dates if you want. What day you hoping to travel on the train? I will be looking for Friday 31st May, so I will get in on the Saturday morning.

Thanks all for the welcome.

We are working with dreams right now to get this thing booked. We are sticking with a inside cabin.

We will be going in to Barcelona a few days early somewhere I have always wanted to go looks like such a exciting place.

Welcome Disney mam, hockeychic and WVMD. I've added your names to our spreadsheet and rollcall list on page one, first posting. If you post any/all of the info on the spreadsheet I'll update it.

Bob and I are booked on the EBTA and B2B with this cruise. We are not sure if we will fly home from Barcelona or what. We thought about taking the QM2 to NY, it would cost almost the same as flying, but don't know if we want to be gone that long.

I just realized that I'll be celebrating my birthday as well!! I've been so concerned about my DD's bday in July that I didn't even realize that the cruise is so close to my own bday which is May 25th!

My DH birthday is on 27th May.

I have been reading up about fish extenders, looks fun.

I know it's early days, but I am researching loads so that I don't feel like a rabbit in the head lights come the time.
